Unable to boot Dell XPS computer l521x laptop

Hello

I recently updated my laptop DELL XPS 15 Windows Windows 8 to 10 L521x. After the upgrade it was running fine for 2 or 3 days until I got the BCD error during initialize to top and not be able to start the laptop below. Please note that I created the recovery for Windows 8 disk before upgrading Windows 10 and did not create any disk recovery for Windows 10.

Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

The Boot Configuration data file contains no valid information for an operating system.

File: \BCD

Error code: 0xc0000098

You will need to use the tools of recovery on your installation media. If you don't have any media (such as a disk or a USB support), contact your system administrator or the manufacturing of PC.

Press ESC for UEFI firmware settings

First thing to do is to power up, press F12 repeatedly and starting Dell Diagnostics from the menu that appears.  Run a test (NOT just fast) lying on the hard drive.  If you see errors such as 2000-0142, the drive must be replaced.

If the drive passes Diagnostics extended, you can use your recovery media to restore the system to Windows 8 and then proceed to upgrade to 10 once more.  Make sure that you have a backup of all your data first, the recovery process will remove all data on the disk.

I got my new xps 15 yesterday, it works great, looks great, I am generally satisfied. (even if it's hot all the time)

It is, the WIFI doesn't work well at all, I'm 2 meters of my box right now and I feel no problems, but as soon as I get on the floor in my room, my signal rate is significantly reduced, I have yet to upload a video on youtube, I was downloading a Steam game yesterday and dl speed has fallen to 6 mb/s! It's awful, if this problem cannot be corrected, I'll be back from mine and will not buy any other product Dell, I don't see how a laptop computer cheap that can have this kind of problems. Anyway, if anyone of you has a solution to my problem (like a Bios), I would be really grateful.

    Thank you!

(Sorry for my English, I'm french)

    I got it to work!

First of all, speed will always get down when you escape the modem - we must admit, it does more information about these systems - compared to other laptops or other electronic devices.  So given that clear, I had updated the driver wifi for the last from 2014 and I lived the question mentioned that reading things that people have tried, I decided to DOWNGRADE (ROLLBACK) the Wifi driver to an earlier version.

I did this go card options, driver as shown in the picture.  HOPE IT WORKS FOR EVERYONE because it's a good machine and so sad that the issue of the design has affected all of us.

  • Upgrade the hardware of Dell XPS (L521x) how to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Pro

    Hello

I searched on the internet with the question that I have before doing the upgrade and the re-installation of windows. But the messages and solutions are all scattered. I really want to clear this for me once and for all if possible.

First of all, the material that I bought for this upgrade:

1 Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD 120 GB (to replace the one 32 GB (factory default)

2 western Digital Black 750Go Performance Mobile HDD (7200 RPM, 2.5 inches)

    3 Intel (r) Dual Band Wireless - AC 7260 (802.11ac, 2 x 2 Wi - Fi, Bluetooth)

    4. crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16 GB (2x8GB) PC3-14900 CL10 at 1.35v 204 pin memory

BTW, my Dell XPS 15 L521x has an intel core i7-3632QM and an nVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M. It also comes with 32 mSATA SSD as cache for the WDC 1 TB HARD drive.

    My goal:

1 install/reinstall Windows 10 mSATA SSD 120 GB and free 500 MB give or take for system reserved partition.

    2. use the remaining space in the C: drive.

    3. use WD Black 2.5 inch 750 GB HHD for cold storage

    4. Remove and reinstall the wireless card Intel Dual Band for a better Wi - Fi compatiability for most routers dual band out there. (Factory default, well, is not great to say the least)

    5. Remove and then install the crucial RAM (compatiable with L521x) is to upgrade memory of my laptop (maybe a little future-proof;) (D).

Before you start the upgrade, I know I have to do the following steps:

    1. update my BIOS/UEFI. (I did it)

2 clear accelerated Intel Rapid Start Technology (IRST) GUI (my laptop keeps inviting that "your system does not have any intel repaid with start technology").

    3. change Intel Smart response Technology (ISRT) to AHCI in BIOS

    4 back up my files

    5. my 10 Pro Activation of emergency Windows (how exactly? The Win10 Pro is upgraded to Windows Pro 8.1 with OEM Dell)

Now my question is what I do or what I've been missing so that what I will meet errors or problems if possible.

Also, I have heard or seen something on the OEM of Windows version. If I change the hardware, disk files or recovering backup activation does not recognize my device. Is this true? If necessary, I can buy a new version of Win10 Pro retail. But, what I really need to do, and does it perform a not-so-complicated work around?

    Thank you very much

    Dean

If you keep your motherboard you have no problem taking the other components such as SSDS.

Your system is already a Pro 10 Windows device.

Installing clean with 10 Windows installation media Pro TH2 your OEM Pro 8.1 Windows key will be automatically entered to the UEFI BIOS and Windows 10 Pro TH2 automatically reactivates when your systems online.

  • Windows 7 problem with the Dell XPS 15 laptop (L502x)

    Dear friends,

    Greetings!

I need your assistance related to a problem, I was confronted with my Dell XPS laptop computer L502x purchased in the United Kingdom a couple of years back. In fact, I tried to update my system for windows-10 de-windows 7 Home Premium (originally installed) via windows update. Later, due to some display problems driver I had to return to the former. But, as soon as I returned my windows for windows 7 HP, it stopped at day no more and I was constantly receives the message from windows update that always ends with a constant error message; so the update process has failed every time.

Therefore, I want to restore my laptop to factory through the restore partition settings that already exist in my machine, the "repair" option does not appear (snapshot attached) when I hit the F8 key. I wonder if there is another option available to use this recovery partition to recover my laptop to factory State. Please suggest me the solution so that I can do what is necessary to restore my machine to the factory settings.

I can't wait to have an encouraging response from you.

    Best,

    Adnan!

If the Ctrl key pressed, while pressing the F11 key repeatedly (about once per second) at startup does not work, it means that the recovery partition no longer exists.  If this is the case, you cannot restore to the factory.

This would also be the case if the hard drive has been replaced.

  • My laptop Dell XPS 17 (L702x) does not recognize an SSD pro Samsung 840

    Hello

I buy all my first SSD for my laptop Dell XPS 17 (L702x) (8T7CQS1). I managed to install the Samsung 840 pro (MZ-7PD256BW) at the HARD School of XPS drive, but the BIOS does not detect as a second HARD drive.

My BIOS version is the most recent: A19 (26/10/2012), I tried to load the BIOS default settings, but no change.

The SATA in the BIOS mode is AHCI.

What could I do with them?

Thanks, if you can help me,

    Kris

    Hi Kris,

Traction test drive 1 and put the SSD in this slot. Then boot in the BIOS to see if the drive is detected.

  • Laptop Dell XPS 13 L322X: 8 beeps start after replacing the screen

    Hi all

I have laptop computer Dell XPS 13 L322X (serial number: CC2YVW1).  I use an external monitor because the screen is flickering with vertical lines and ghosts of the colors. I've updated the Bios and the driver video and tried the diagnostic mode (power and the D - key... and) without success.

I just bought a new replacement compatible screen but the I cannot start using the new form and meeting the 8 beeps are heard. I tried to start with the external monitor and using power on the laptop with the D key, the new screen of the laptop began to switch colors four times and return the sound signal.

I tried to disconnect the battery and the AC power and maintain the power to drain the left stored energy from capacitors without success.

Thanks in advance for your help,

In this case, return the set of sieves of replacement - it's probably the cable is bad (but since it is an integral part of the screen, the set should be replaced.

  • Unable to boot computer after several attempts

Earlier this year, I bought a Dell with Windows 8 is already installed.  I don't know where the disks are supplied with the computer.  Recently, I was unable to boot my computer.  I restored to factory settings, updated it, restored to an earlier point, and now it does nothing.  Sometimes I was able to connect and it works fine.  Then, I stopped him and I don't and then sign up again next time.  Right now, it is not yet running the auto repair.

So, anyone have any suggestions or know what I have to do because I really want my computer to work.  If I can't connect, is there anything I should do?  How can I avoid this happening again?

Almost certainly, it came with none. Instead it came with a recovery
    partition.

Recently, I was unable to boot my computer.  I restored to factory settings.

    Using the recovery partition?

refreshed, restored to an earlier point, and now it does nothing.

Unless you are having a hardware problem, you probably screwed
something in these steps upward. Exactly what you were doing and how?

Sometimes I was able to connect and it works fine.  Then, I stopped him and I don't and then sign up again next time.

That looks a lot like a hardware problem. Maybe overheating.
supply failure, hard drive, motherboard, RAM or something else.

Right now, it is not yet running the auto repair.

So, anyone have any suggestions or know what I have to do because I really want my computer to work.  If I can't connect, is there anything I should do?  How can I avoid this happening again?

He must still be under warranty, and you should probably get Dell to
    see what is the problem.

    2. How can clean the Volume in order to show "Volume is clean instead of sale"

I look forward to hear from you.

    Thank you

    Hi, Dr.,

Volumes that contain file system errors are known as Sales. To indicate that a file system problem has occurred and that the volume is dirty, Windows XP Professional displays a message similar to the following when you try to open, delete, or rename a file or folder by using Microsoft Windows Explorer or the command prompt:

Autochk runs if the volume is marked as modified.

If the file system has marked the volume as dirty, Autochk runs the Startup Repair process. Volumes are marked as dirty, when the file system detects an error on the volume. If Autochk detects a dirty volume, it provides a delay of 10 seconds, and then starts the repair process. If you cancel Autochk when a volume is dirty, Autochk tries to run again after a 10 second delay every time the computer is restarted.

See Chkdsk for all the necessary explanations:

I done a clean install on Dell XPS 420 after a crash.  Windows XP works fine, but it continues to ask that drivers can be installed before I can get on my internet which is At & T DSL with external modem.  When I try to go on the internet, it gives me the error of pilots.  I had what I thought, it was the disk drivers that came with the computer, but when I installed and then it is still asking for the correct drivers.  I called At & t for their support and they said I needed drivers.  That's why I came to Microsoft to download the drivers on my Dell Studio 17 on a cd, so I can load them onto the computer Dell XPS 420.  I was afraid to install on my computer because my Windows 7 running.

I don't know if I can load my Windows 7 and its drivers on the dell Xps 420.  It was a solution, I thought, but I'm not that computer from common sense to see if that might spoil the Dell XPS 420.   Any help would be appreciated.

Using another computer, go to the Dell support website and search the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number. Using your Dell's Service tag number is the fastest way to get the correct drivers.

If there is then Windows XP Download drivers into a folder (with subfolders named "Chipset", "LAN", "Audio", etc) on your hard drive and burn all files on a CD driver.

Then, insert the CD into the computer XPS 420 and install all of the driver files, starting with the mother/chipset, SATA, Firewire card drivers (1394), LAN, Audio, etc, and so on.
