Unable to change "Auto arrange" in Windows 7 is unacceptable

Well, here are my comments on Windows 7.
I bought a new netbook from Asus with Windows 7 to use on the business travel and more precisely selected the version of Windows 7 on the old familiar XP ((that I liked for years on my PC Toshiba) and now I'm kicking myself.

As I take a lot of pictures on these trips, such as personal folders, I decided that the failure "by" design of the ability to rearrange folders and files ("thumbnails") in Windows 7 is all FACT UNACCEPTABLE. It's such a serious shortcoming that I will ACTIVELY DISPARAGE the friends and family of buying or using Windows 7 in any product they buy.

Yes, it's so BAD.

I plan to return or resell my current Asus netbook at this business trip back and re-purchase of the XP version. I can not express how pissed off and disappointed I am that this feature has been omitted "by design? Here I thought that Windows 7 was supposed to be an improvement over XP?

I BEG the team Microsoft to write a fix for this glaring omission!

signed, a fan disappointed in XP to life.

Hello everyone who works on it about the DISABLING of AUTOMATIC REORGANISATION in WINDOWS 7.  I went online, still a time and google it.  There is a new website for me, called sevenforums.com, who had a very complete downloadable fix and free for the problem, it is a great help for tech-challenged people like me.  Go to the home page, register, and then return to the homepage search engine window and enter "disable auto arrange" or click on this link http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/92758-windows-explorer-auto-arrange-disable-new-post.html

ad, then click on the blue space that says "show the full tutorial".

Yippeeeeeee!  Finally, a solution that involves no changes to the registry very scary.  One thing to notice, that the author of the download very kindly responded to me on when I said the fix didn't work, (my bad), was that if you go to your photos in the part of the LIBRARIES in Windows 7, you cannot drag and drop to sort.  You need to access your files via the USER / my images.

So, when you click START and then click on PHOTOS in the menu, you will get a window which auto puts in evidence and defaults to picture libraries.   In this large window, look down on the left side of the window until you see the "computer" paragraph: click the COMPUTER > OS > USER > OWNER (and that you use your owner name) and you're there! "."

God bless the generosity of the non-Microsoft people who worked and is willing to share their knowledge.

LAURIE

P.S. and the best thing is that the automatic arrangement sorted is supposed to stay that way next time you talk about the record.

    Hi Trevor,

This problem can occur if a certain group policy blocks access to Windows updates.

You can follow these steps and check if it helps.

    a. press the Windows key + R, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER.

    b. navigate to Setup Computer > administrative templates > Windows components > Windows Update.  Ensure that the States of all parameters are "not configured".

    c. make a change here,

Open the node "Configuration of the automatic updates service"
    Select "enabled."
Under Automatic Configuration update, select 5 - "Local Admin allow to choose the settings.
Under scheduled install, select any value.

    d. still once, go to Computer Configuration > administrative templates > system > Internet Communication Management-> Internet Communication settings. Make sure that the State of "Turn off access to all Windows Update features" is "not configured".

Let us know if it helps. If the problem persists, we would be happy to help you further.

OK, it's because you're unintentionally also change the file extension. Go to Folder Options, as I have said and check "Hide extensions of known file types". Click OK and you will not see the behavior.

On the screen of "rearrange icons by", "Auto arrange" is unchecked. !!!

Hi there, have you tried? Click with the right button on a blank space on your desktop, highlight the icons on the desktop, check on "locking up icons" and organize the uncheck'auto?

    or

    securityguy14

When you say "LOCK icon on my desktop items" I assume you mean to stop to rearrange a reboot? If that's what you mean, so just copy paste then whats below into Notepad, then click on "file > save under...". "in the part superior, save it to the desktop. When you save the 'Save as type' change to 'Documents text (*.txt)' to 'All Files' and name it anything with a .reg extension. Close everything and then click on the file and select "merge". also, you want to make sure to add the part "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00".» This registry setting records the position of items on the desktop when you turn off

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoSaveSettings" = hex (3): 00, 00, 00, 00

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk...

That's all just because similar issues were held with Avast area this year - and the suspicion was that Avast may have paralyzed himself at the same time as crippling Windows.

You may have updated RTM - but you still need to install SP1, SP2 and subsequent updates.

Usually the AV is uninstalled, then update WIndows completely, then reinstall the AV has solved the problem - you can check by looking at the error line TTS to see where it was detected last (unfortunately, there is no way that I know to reset it easily). I suggest that do you so immediately after the uninstallation of the AV and before you reinstall and once again on the second boot after the relocation and upgrading of the AV. - compare values

  • Automatic icons of the Organization Office, auto arrange is DISABLED.

    Hello.

Today my icons are accommodating on the left side of my screen like automatic reorganization is enabled. which is NOT the case. I tried turning power switch with toggeling snap to grid as well as in various combinations, all with no effect on the issue.

I tried some of the fix registry mentioned in other posts here, also without success, the question of fixing. I even tried to do a selective startup upward, all disable anything microsoft services too, which did not fix the issue.

OnTop of that it apears when I restart my computer not only is done also auto arrange my icons (even if its still not controlled), but he changes the size of the icon in the Middle, even if it was set to classic (small) when I restarted the computer.

When I tried to do a restore of the system just seems to say "the initialization of the restore point" and is, do nothing. I leave on this screen for about an hour before, I stopped the restoration.

I also ran a virus scan (avg) that no matter what pick and a registry Fixer (ccleaner). registery Fixer has established a large number of errors but has not fixed the problem I have.

This quite frustrating cause I duo monitors and I prefer some of my quick links on my second monitor, so I can open programs with duty reduce my current window.

  • How to change the language of Windows in Windows Vista?

I am trying to print something in black & white. I went to the print page to change the color. Language changed from English to French (or Italian?). I've never changed the language & worry how it changed. How can I change it back to English?

    Hello

Please try to change the language of the document, and then try to print the document in the appropriate language.  If the document has been changed to the language proper, but it is still printing in English, please inform me accordingly.  If you are unable to change the language, please check the version of Windows Vista that you are running.  Also, if you would please check the type of document (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe PDF).  In Word, there should be an option of translation to translate the language to the language of your choice.  If you please you would follow with me at your convenience, I would be very apprecite it.

If that's the word, simply highlight the police and the content of the document and right click.  There should be an option called translate.  Click on this option.  Select the appropriate language and insert text.  It will then replace the previous text with text of your choice.

-Create an another user account and check if you still experience this issue.

  • Disable/turn off the auto arrange files and folders?

does anyone know how to disable auto arrange? I love being organsised and organize my files in the folders for my taste. I could do it with vista and other windows before Windows 7. can anyone help? is microsoft aware of this problem and they do anything?

1 right-click anywhere on your desktop and choose View > Auto Arrange icons

2 make sure that it is there no check mark next to Auto Arrange icons

This works only on the desktop, but not in the display of records, Freak05. The menu option that you're referring to can be reported in the views folder, but only with a registry hack that I noticed earlier. It is more accurately described in the articleHow to disable the automatic reorganization in folders in Windows 7?

  • Unable to change the solid color background

original title: my wallpaper is unable to change the solid color, no matter what I select. I have 3 users defined on my Windows 7 Ultimate, and this happens for only one to three logons.

my desktop background cannot be changed to solid color, no matter what I select. I have 3 users defined on my Windows 7 Ultimate, and this happens for only one to three logons.

I usually use the 'personalization' feature to select the themes, but he 1) is not seen when I select a theme and 2) wallpaper is a solid color when I save the theme. All the other personalization... that is, the window color, sound and screen saver work as advertised. It's just the wallpaper which won't be not 'take'
Same thing happens when I try to change the background to something other than a solid color (I can choose any solid color I want). He can't do the "slide show", can only select a single peak, cannot set the background with the help of a right-click on a photo. Can't even get the default value of Windows 7 or Windows 7 Basic background to display.
I even went as check the settings of "accessibility". No joy...
    Any ideas?
