  If I read this correctly, you have a portable computer that do not have an operating system on it.  You try to install Vista and get the error.
  You've restarted the Vista installation?  So then you get the same error? If you have tried to install more than once and continue to receive this error, check that the laptop is capable of Vista?  You may need to check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if it is able to support Vista. After trying some suggestions Internet on how to solve this BSOD problem that did not work, including repair of Windows, I did a data back up mode without failure and then decide to reinstall Windows 7 from the MS CD. My level of understanding is limited, but as noted, I've done this before with success. What I didn't understand is there seems to be another unsolved problem which does not allow the complete reinstallation of windows.
   
  I did a clean install, then a formatting and in both cases, W7 could not complete the installation. It progresses to the final stage of "complete installation" and then there is a second error message 1 that I can't read... "" a problem has been detected... close... "."  It seems to be a reboot loop.
   
  I have since read that the original BSOD problem and the 'detected problem' could also well be linked to the display driver. And this driver it must be disabled before performing a Windows installation. But I'm not able to access Safe Mode or the control panel to turn it off. If this driver is the problem, is there another way to turn it off?
