Unable to create a user in XP limited account

I just installed Windows XP on a new computer and the default user account is administrator. I want to create a limited for General connections to the Internet user account, but the Panel will only allow me to create a second administrator account.  When I did that Windows doesn't let me pass this second account to a limited account. Please can you help me? Thank you.

Create the second administrator, then restart. The first administrator will probably disappear and are visible only in safe mode. You must create the user limited with the second administrator account.

    Hello

Recently, I'm stuck with these issues:

    1. not able to access 'Change PC settings' - when I click on it nothing happens.

2 start menu/Store does not work - I am using the profile of the user admin Start Menu is a blank blue screen with just the user name appears at the top right. Store is completely scratched too.

While the guest user has all the tiles in Start menu/store.

    3. cannot create a user profile - I wanted to try to create a new user profile and check if the store is working properly. When I click on 'Add a new user in the laptop settings' nothing happens.

I tried the system restore, but it does not solve all of the above. Is there any solution to these problems without having to reinstall Win 8? I don't have the installation discs.

    TIA!

You can use the restore or refresh options without going in the settings of the PC.  Read the instructions carefully, it says:

If you can't identify, or use laptop settings app, you can access these rather safe mode options. On the login screen, click on the power icon, and then hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard while you click on restart. Now keep update until the next screen appears.

  • I tried to create a USER with administrator rights, as suggested by XP, but now I don't see the icon administrator when connecting?

My new user does not have the original administrator logon icon the same settings, computer desktop or programs I should use and before setting up the new user.  How can I copy, convert or restore settings (find) the Director, programs, files, documents, office, Internet settings and Favorites, etc. to the new USER?

Since owning my laptop I had connected using the Administrator icon and had an icon of comments, as well, until last Thursday.  I tried to follow the advice of XP and create USERS, so the administrator access would not be compromised.  Children were downloading apps and devours space... I was afraid they would accidentally remove a program or file, or worse... Then...

When I set up my USER he asked me if I would be the Admiistrator. I said yes.  But, when iI rebooted my laptop, only the icon of the USER (S) presented at the connection... the Administrator icon was missing. and my new USER reflects only a few shortcuts shared on the desktop...

I expect Admin rights and my old administrator settings.  I need to recover them because all my documents and especially my work programs do not exist.

Help, please!  It would be greatly appreciated EV.  I would like to restore to last Wednesday, if the system would, but it seems that it will not.

    Sincerely,

    KC

What you experienced is normal.  When you create another user, the original administrator account becomes hidden.  It's still there (in fact, it cannot be deleted), it just doesn't appear in the login screen.

You should still be able to login as administrator.  When you get to the login screen, just tap Ctrl-Alt-Del twice.  This will bring up a login dialog window.  Just enter 'Administrator' in the user name and the password (if any) in the password line and press 'return '.  If you want or need to copy your files and data from the administrator account to the new account that you created, and then follow the steps in the following procedure and claim that your administrator profile is corrupted or damaged.

  • Explorer crashing only in limited accounts

Hi - I am using Windows XP sp3 and IE is if crush in limited accounts I set and newly created. Explorer never gets started, it just hangs. It works very well in the admin account.

Another strange thing is that when I go to start search there no place where to click for my choice, IE. on the left side of the window in the blue field, just above the dog's all white, just a bunch of blue, no search files..., location... etc.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

This solution worked for me on Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional (sp3):

    (1) from your administrator account, under users, change the limited account to be an administrator account

    (2) log on to the account and start IE (it should start now that the account is an administrator, you may experience script errors).

    (3) under Tools / Internet Options / Advanced tab:

    (4) to the title of "Reset Internet Explorer settings", click on the reset button

    (5) there is no need to check the box "delete personal settings '.

    (6) close and restart IE before disconnection of the account

    (6) log Off of the account, go back to your admin account and reset the account is a limited account.  Reconnect and check that IE starts correctly.

Note that you need to do this for each limited account that has the problem.

  • 5.1.7 server on El Capitan: create a user with a personalized folder location

I've recently upgraded to El Capitan on my server once an apple advisor told me that 5.1.7 server had a bunch of bug fixes for Open Directory(which I plan on using down the road). Given that the Working Group Manager is not compatible with 10.11...

Is there a way to create a user with a personalized folder location? When I create a user on the server, I can choose to create a home folder, with or without limitation in the disc or make the service of the user only. My problem is that I have no way (that I know) in the window of creating user to change the location of this folder.

I tried to create a model of a user with a basic 'tailor-made' folder location (Volume/promised Pegasus/Home 2016 / etc...) but when I create the user, the home folder is not in the specified path.

The "work around" I found for this batch of user is to create in the default location then move them on my raid Promise Pegasus, change the path to the advanced option to the each user and reassign the appropriate permissions.

It is not so much a problem if I would deal with users 10. But I have to manage/create about 130-150 users every 5-6 months.

I guess that there is an easier way to create a user with a custom home folder location. It would make sense that apple removes the Workgroup Manager and does not replace its characteristics.

Best case scenario is that I do evil and do not hesitate to let me know if this is the case!

    Thank you

    Francis

I may be wrong, but it seems that Workgroup Manager version 10.8 works under El Capitan: I can certainly start the application and query users / groups that are there.  I guess maybe it's on the machine as a rest to be updated periodically since days Lion... but it also shows that if you can find a copy, you may be able to run on your machine.

  • Problems creating "Restricted user" on Yoga 3

    Hi all

I just bought two tablets 3 Yoga for children for Christmas, and I'm setting them up before I give them to them. I want their access to him be a bit limited, so I myself put in place as the user owner of the tablets, and then I'll give them limited accounts. Or is the plan. :-) I have improved the tablets of the latest version of the firmware, so I should have 5.1.1.

I created a restricted account, with certain permissions, and then I switch to this user. But then, I get in a home screen entirely black. It's just the three soft keys at the bottom of the screen. Nothing happens when I press the triangle or circle, but if I press the spot, I get into what is usually the list of screens of course, but the list is empty. From there, I can start the Task Manager, but there is nothing on this list either. It is said that he uses however 433 MB of RAM.

So, it's a little too restrictive, looks like the only thing that I can use restricted user mode is the camera. :-) Guess this isn't really the intention, and there is probably an easy fix, so how can I I fix?

    Best,

    Kjetil

I found the solution to the problem myself, just display for future reference. Turns out that it was important the HPROF app was enabled... It's just weird, Lenovo should probably look into fixing that, but at least it's working now.

  • What should I do when the display shows "at the service of the user could not connect. Unable to load the user profile... ?

  • Limited to issues of access to user files: cannot open files C:\Docs and directory All Users\... of limited account

Developed an application, I am having trouble hosting different user accounts. In an attempt to debug, I created a user account on my XP development machine I've ever done before. Programming within this limited user account, I can test the existence of a file in the "C:\Docs and Users\etc all..." to see that there are, but I can't open it to read.

How can I access the files for purposes of development while maintaining the limited account so I can test that the system works for all computers it willl be used on and all their different configurations of users? Or perhaps, where can I find information on where and how to manage the application data, so I don't run into these issues? What I saw before me had to believe given to all users is available to all users!

    Thank you.

  • Cannot create a user account

I can no longer create a user account on my computer without a following error message is displayed. It is said that my account name cannot contain characters other than letters and numbers. the name in which I entered did not include one of these special characters, so I don't know what I did wrong. I can also change an existing account name, or what I can change my account picture. Help, please!

    Hello

If you logged in as ADMINISTRATOR, then this account is probably corrupted.

Try these to erase corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.

    After the foregoing:

Try to use the ADMIN which is accessible from Safe Mode - repeatedly tap F8 as you start - ADMIN
has no password by default (unless someone has changed). Use this ADMIN to perform the functions
suggested below (use of the hidden ADMIN account) If you are unable to access the mode without failure.

Then do-, use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK
then go back and reset it to the Admin APPLY/OK - this clearly allows corruption. Do this several times. Do the
same for other accounts that may be difficult. Then if necessary you can also reset your password
in the accounts. Do not forget to leave your Admin account and the other to the desired level.

Make another Admin account with your password and use it to fix the others if necessary. (just for

  • create the user from the command line

I use Windows 7, I don't have a password reset disk and don't remember the password. How to create a user account from the comand prompt I can change the passwords?

This has not answered my question. I could not connect. I found the answer and was able to activiate the account administrator hidden and solved the problem in this way.

    Thank you

I'm intrigued by your answer, and here's why:

    • The subject of your message is 'create the command line user '. The answer I gave you will certainly do so.
    • If you had stated that you were unable to connect while I gave you a method to solve this problem.
    • Find your own solution, but you chose to keep it to yourself, depriving other people who might read this thread for your answer.

If this happens again, then I recommend using a topic as "you forgot my password, can not connect" as this could summarize your situation in a sentence. Create an account from a command prompt has no relevance in your case.

  • Could not create the user account

Unlike some other subjects that I looked at, I am unable to create a new user account at all.  The list 'manage accounts' is totally empty (do not list me).  Windows 7 Professional, new Dell Inspiron Zino HD.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that you must open the Console with elevated privileges. Log on under a user account that belongs to the Administrators group, then do this:
    1. create a shortcut on the desktop pointing to cmd.exe. Call Console.
2 right click on the shortcut to the Console, and then run it as administrator.
    3. now type the commands I gave you before.
