  I have previous been able to extract files with the ending .zip, after removing the zip genius, my .zip ending files will not be extracted by windows 7 built in Extractor. The question is when windows does not recognize the zip file and it asks me what program I open the zip file with.   If you have already tried to change the file extension, nothing helps, you can try a System Restore to a point before the problem/change occurred. I hope this helps.
