I downloaded free TV and after a few seconds I started to receive several pop ups.  So I went into 'Add oir remove programs' and tried to delete only whatt I added indicating by date.  Now, I can not enter in «Add or remove prgrams.»  I get an error message indicating that I have no file required to open this file.

    Apparently, I removed something I shouldn't.

    Help, please.

First of all, you can not rely or guardianship what add / remove programs tells you about the dates, time, last used, etc..

For example, I use my MS Office every day, but the ARP says that it is rarely used and last used on 2010-10-10.

Such things would work correctly if the installation programs would put enough correct information in the registry during the installation of applications, but most are not.  Even applications like MS Office Microsoft isn't much good.  Do not pay attention to this information.

If you get an error message, you must validate exactly what the said error, think what ARP file is missing and tell us more about your system.

If sfc/scannow solves your problem, I'll send you or your charitable organization preferred $100 Americans.

You will not run sfc/scannow successfully anyway unless you have a XP installation CD authentic which corresponds to your Service Pack installation (most people don't).  The technical support engineers always seem to leave out this little nugget of information.

  • Firefox is unable to open the download files

I have an instance of Firefox 3.5.5 thinapp which, for some reason, fails to open anything in the download window.  Meaning if I select a PDF and online say to open using adobe, I get the following (this problem is not isolated to adobe however)

    http://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/7900/error.JPG

I removed the name of the users so, normally, the empty space in the string contains only.

Very well the instance installed locally IE8 can open files with the intended application.  Firefox and Adobe are registered with the virtual machine using thinreg.  Windows XP SP3 virtual machine, all available updates have been applied.  Applications created using v4.0.3 thinapp.  In the end, we can choose to download the file, and then navigate to the folder and open it from there but it's not really easy to use and I can't go to anyone with this as the solution.

The behavior will change if you change the isolation mode to merged and rebuild. You must remove the tray sand of Firefox (modes of insulation in cache) before your test run.

Infection Trojan horse on Sunday, McAfee detected and removed on Monday.  run missing files missing rundll32.exe can't open most of the programs without having to 'open with' quick screen.  Have tried the solutions to similar problems, without success.  Cannot use the restore system or clickfree. AM running xp service pack 3, any suggestions?

    He hides on your part.

The dllcache folder is a hidden system folder (normally).

The dllcache folder is where XP keeps copies of important system files.  Windows file protection monitors these files when your system is working and if it happen never disappeared, PAM quickly and quietly replace it using the copy in the dllcache folder - this is why you put the rundll32.exe file in both places...  One in the dllcache folder is the backup.

If you want to use Windows search, you need to go to the Advanced Options section and select the search system folders and enable folders and files hidden research.

If you use Solution Explorer, while you're looking in the c:\windows\system32 folder, you must:

    Click on tools
Click on the folder view tab Options
Enable: Display the hidden files and folders
Disable (uncheck): Hide extensions of known file types
Disable (uncheck): Hide protected operating system files

Then, you'll be able to find and navigate in the dllcache folder.

When you are finished, you can set your options to view back the way they were then you don't have an accident one day in one of these folders.

  • Cannot open .exe programs in XP except MS IE - ask "open with - choose the program you want to use to open this file.

Any of the My .exe programs such as office, Firefox, Skype can be opened from desktop file icons or programs. Only the program that works is MS IE.

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP is not
