Unable to remove an admin account

I would like to completely clear my account before I sell it, but I can't delete it. I created a new account, imaginatively named new user to this effect and gives powers new user admin. as a new user, I went into system preferences > users and groups, but when I clicked on my account regularly in order to remove it, I found it is grayed out. I think maybe I gave Ria23 uber-admin powers, but I don't know how or revoke these powers.

Earlier, I tried to delete the new user and no problem with it.

TLDR: I want to wipe my personal profile completely before passing to a new user, but can't seem to do it.

Before you sell or give away your computer, and more the steps listed in this article to support, please follow these steps:

1. run the Diagnostics by Apple. The buyer will do (or it should), and you won't be surprised by the results.

2. reset the PRAM and the SMC, which may contain personal information.

3. If you set a password for the firmware, delete it.

4. If you turn on FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.

5. If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.

6. If you have created another partition of data on internal disk, remove them in disk utility.

7. If the machine has an internal hard drive, erase the remaining data partition with the possibility of putting the data to zero. An SSD has no need to be set to zero.

8. remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it is still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the warranty to the new owner as described in the terms and Conditions AppleCare (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

Note also:

You can legally or transfer almost any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. This includes OS X, so if you've switched to OS X 10.7 or later, you need to reinstall an operating system older, either from the installation media, if any, or by commissioning in recovery mode of the Internet (option-command-R start ringing.) If you have installed physical media, deliver those to the new owner.

Replacements for the original media can be ordered from Apple.

If the machine comes with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you may be able to install it from a retail Snow Leopard' drive (that you have to transfer to the buyer.) To run the snow leopard, the machine needs at least 1 GB of memory. The buyer should understand that if he does not get the support of origin on your part, it will not group iLife applications or the Apple Hardware Test.

The new owner will have to re-download everything software that came on the App Store, as appropriate, including updates of OS X, under her Apple ID. If you never updated applications bundled iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band) through the App Store, you can not transfer these either. The buyer must buy them. Note that iPhoto has been suspended and is no longer available for purchase.

  • I can't perform a restore of the system after the removal of the admin account?

Original title: admin deleted, now impossible to restore

I bought my laptop from my work for personal use and remove the admin users. When you try to download anything it gives me an error now, "the requested operation requires an elevation" when I put my user name and password. How can I solve this problem? Can't even do a restore without credentials. When I looked at the accounts, mine is the only one listed. Is there another way I can find out what is the admin account? My work told me a few options for the password, but was not really sure because they put in place so long ago.

Remove the admin account amounted to throw away the key of your safe. A better idea would have been to create and test an alternative admin account. Here's how you can recover from this disaster:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Configure Windows to a point before you deleted the admin account.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

  • have 2 admin accounts and it is impossible to get the option to remove one of them

I created for the administrator accounts and cannot get the option to remove one of them. I want to delete that won't give me the option to delete all it will let me do is change the password, it says it will allow me to change the picture, but when I try blank on the login screen is displayed. I can't change it even for standard user if I am logged in under the account of other admin. what I want to do is get rid of all my accounts and re-created them correctly like the one that I can't delete will sometimes pop up for password when I want to install something when I am connected with the other account.

Is it possible to reset all our and start from scratch? I think it happened when I made some changed account policy local when I couldn't get a regular with my admin account setup program and now I don't know how to cancel it.

I do not have to reinstall windows just to get this problem resolved... There must be an easier way.

    Thanks in advance

For the guest account - I have a little poorly stated.  You * can * remove, but it is not recommended to perform this (possible to unintended consequences.)  http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-desktop/deleting-guest-account/5a116d33-0056-47CA-B51A-b6615b90e160

Administrator account - as far as I know you just cannot delete the built-in one.  Whichever one you can NOT remove - who is integrated. * smile *.

Rename you accounts?  If not - it is one called "administrator."  Alternatively, you can use a registry setting to understand - but really the name should give it (if you have not renamed - and even if he did you rename... You renamed, you must know what you renamed to) the description of the account should be, "the computer or to the domain administrative account '...

At the end of the day - you must remove only the accounts you know * you * created.  Ignore the rest.  Windows is/has been / will probably always be a multi-user even system when it is used by a single user.  He has accounts that are doing things in the background at almost any time.  Better than to let them be - unless you like instability.

Whenever you install something (attempt to) as a normal user, it should appear and ask you an administrative level account - but you can select 'other' and put in ANY account of administrative level on this machine, you know the credentials. ;-)

Restart the computer using safe mode, and then log in as administrator. The password is by default set to an empty space. You can now recreate your admin account.

When you have finished, try to plan ahead a little. Have a computer with a single administrator account, it's something that compulsive risk takers indulge in. The rest of us sure we at any time two fully tested and documented admin accounts.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    See you soon

I bought the clean my Mac 3 software...

'Cleaning' apps are scams. Extract of effective defenses against software malware and other threats:

    • Never install a product that claims to 'clean up', 'speed', 'optimize', 'boost' or 'speed up' your Mac; to "wash", "tune" or to make it "brilliant". These allegations are absurd.
      • These products are marketed very aggressively. They are all scams.
      • They usually operate on the erroneous premise that Mac builds 'junk' that must be systematically 'cleaned' for optimum performance.
      • Trial versions of these programs are successful because they provide more instant gratification of free space on the disk.
      • This increased space is the result of irreversible destruction of files, programs or operating system components normally protected against accidental tampering or removal. The eventual result will be the reliable operation, poor performance and random crashes that may not become evident for months, or even years after their use, when updates of programs or OS X are finally released.
      • Memory "cleaners" that bypass the work of OS x memory management algorithms by purging the memory contents inactive for mass storage, which can only result in performance degradation and accelerated the hardware failure.

To remove 3 CleanMyMac itself, use its Uninstall module, followed the following additional steps:

    • Delete the file ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist

      • To access this file, copy and Paste the following line in the menu to go to Finder > go to folder...

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/

      • Locate the following file and drag it to the Trash:

    com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist

    • Then, open  (menu Apple) > System Preferences > users and groups > login items.
    • Select the item of Menu of CleanMyMac3
    • Click on the [-] (button less).
    • Restart your Mac.

Beware that reinstall OS X has no effect on deletion CleanMyMac or reverse the damage, it is able to inflict on a system. To recover from the effects of using it to change the OS X / Sierra, you need additional software and essential files you need, follow the applicable recovery procedure below:

    • If you have a backup that you created before using CleanMyMac, now is the time to use it. For Time Machine, start macOS Recoveryand in the form of Mac OS X utilities , select restore from a Time Machine backup. Choose a date prior to the installation of CleanMyMac.
    • If you don't have a backup previous use of CleanMyMac, create one now. To do this read to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.
      • The recovery procedure require that you erase the Mac using OS X Recovery, and then create a new user account whose content will be empty. You can then use Setup Assistant to migrate your essential documents, including photos, music, products of work and other essential files.
      • To erase and install OS X read How to reinstall Mac OS on your Mac.
        • Follow step 2 to completely erase the internal memory of the CMA: delete a volume using disk utility.
        • Then follow the procedure to move your content to a new Mac.
        • When asked how you want to transfer your data, select transfer from a Mac, Time Machine backup or boot disk.
        • Under Select the information to transfer, select only your old user account and do not select 'Applications', 'Computer and Network Settings' or 'other files and folders. Deselect these choices.
      • After using Setup Assistant, you will need to reinstall the essential software that you might need, once more without forgetting to install the software from their original sources and by omitting all non-essential software.
      • "Non-essential software" is a broad category that includes, but is not limited to the products 'antivirus' third party 'cleaning' and 'maintenance '.
  • Parental control on the Admin account problems

A few months ago, I created a new account on my computer for work only.  I set the parental controls on the new account and only the work account.  I got by without my computer for work then off the parental control.  Now, I'm unable to download games without him asking for a password.  I don't know what password I had used since I don't end up need it and none I've tried have worked.  So, how can I, as an administrator, disable this feature?  I have consulted the parental control and done everything I have seen/read that was recommended, but it won't allow me to change the settings on my own admin account without establishing a second admin account.  So, how can I remove this feature from the admin, only the admin?  It does not accept any next to the admin account, and even then it won't take my password.

I work at it for a few weeks now and tried everything I can think of.  Today I spent most of the day trying to get this thing to work.

More details on what is happening-
-I'm going to download a game on the net while connected to my admin account
-Everything works until the final stage when he usually asks for a general permission to my antivirus
-A pop up appears which reads: you do not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run.  You can run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as long as the current user.
-Click on the current user and it closes, download fault.
-Enter a password for the administrator and it says I have a user name or password invalid.
-Enter my username and password and it closes, download fault.

Can someone please help with this?

    Hello KS. GAL.86,

Is the problem with the account of the work that you had created that has activated the Parental control? You can only configure Parental controls on a standard account and not an administrator account.

If so, then create a new account that has not activated the parental control.

Is the issue that you are experiencing that you can not download programs as an administrator?
What is the exact error you get when you download a program?

It cannot have anything to do with Parental control.

Please answer back with more details and information.

    Thank you

    Hello

seems really strange, especially after the installation of a pc wireless card software. I can give you a suggestion:

EVERYTHING YOU DATA BACK UP AND REINSTALL YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM.

I think that it is the only way, because when you describe you already tried almost every thing, then a recovery is inevitable. Copy/backup your data and put the new OS on the HARD drive.

After that, make separate accounts (for example 3 accounts) and install the card netgear with the admin account. It should work.
    Would appreciate some comments.

  • Place the Parental control over the Admin account

I use a Macbook Pro with El Capitan 11.1 2012

Today, I put Parental controls on my admin account, which resulted in the managed account. I can now use my normal administrator username / combo of password to remove it. I tried everything I found on the Internet, including into single user mode and create a new account to change to leave, but the code didn't work in my case.

I was wondering if there is any easy solution or new thoughts there for this OS...

Also why it not easier? Or at least a warning? Looks like Apple could have come up with something after that it was produced for the years.

Please take these steps to restore the privileges on your account. This somewhat tedious procedure is only necessary if you have verified that no work administrator account exists on the system.

If you do not already have a current backup of all your data, you must back up before taking any of the steps below. Ask if you need advice. You won't need the backup unless something goes wrong, which is always possible.

    Step 1

Start in recovery mode. The OS X Utilities appears.

    Step 2

This step only if you use FileVault 2. Start utility disk, then select the icon for the volume FileVault startup ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) It will be nested under another icon of the disc. Click the Open button in the toolbar and enter your login password when you are prompted. Then quit disk utility must be returned to the main screen.

    Step 3

    Select

    Utilities ▹ Terminal

in the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:

    resetp

Press the tab key. The partial order you entered will automatically end this:

    resetpassword

Press return. Opens a window to reset the password. Select your boot if not already done volume. Pull down the menu option

    Select the user account

    and select

    Administrator (root)

Follow the prompts to set a password. It is safer to choose a password that includes only the characters a - z, A - Z and 0-9. I suggest that you write the password. If you don't write it down and forget about it, you will start again at step 1.

    Select

     ▹ Reboot...

    in the menu bar.

    Step 4

This step, as step 2, applies only if you use FileVault. Sign up as usual, then select

     ▹ Disconnect...

from the menu bar or press shift-command-Q key combination. Do not restart. You go back to the login screen.

    Step 5

On the login screen, click on the other... Enter 'root' (without the quotes) in the name field and the password set in step 3 in the password field. You should now be logged in as root. It is a potentially dangerous situation. Do nothing by being logged in as root except as indicated below. You'll be fine as long as you don't dismiss the plan.

Open the preferences users and groups window. Select your usual administrator account from the list of users and check the box marked

Allow the user to administer this computer

You will be prompted to restart. Do this and log in as yourself, not as root. Your administrator status should now be restored.

    Step 6 (optional, but recommended)

Follow the instructions in this article to support under the title "disable the root user. You must authenticate in directory utility as a 'root' with the password set in step 3. As another administrator authentication will not work.
