Unable to run SQL Developer

Whenever I try to start SQL Developer (using a shortcut on my desktop), I get a dialog box asking for the location of the java.exe file. When I select the file in Program Files (x 86) > Java > jre > bin, I get the following popup error message: "could not find a J2SE SDK installed to the path: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Java\jre7.

I receive the error message even if I use the path Program Files > Java > jre > bin to locate the jave.exe file.

The related shortcut on my desktop has the following path: 'C:\Users\mamontgo\My Documents\sqldeveloper64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre\sqldeveloper '.

NOTE: I also get the following popup error whenever I start up my laptop: "could not start the Virtual Machine Java", but I don't know if this related to SQL Developer.

I use a laptop Dell E6420, running Windows 7.

    You cannot connect to the APEX Oracle using Oracle SQL Developer workspace, but you can connect with the schemas associated with the workspace and manage database objects in this schema.

  • Unable to run SQL Dev Data model 64-Bit

    I downloaded the latest version of the Oracle SQL Developer 64-bit and like to use instead of 32 bits, which includes the JRE. I use Windows 7 Professional 64 - Bit.

    I followed the instructions and downloaded the JRE from the link specified in your documentation.

    [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1880261.html]

    The file I downloaded is second from the bottom:

    It has been successfully installed in the default folder:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre7

    When I double click on datamodeler64.exe gives me a window asking me to enter the full path to java.exe. I tried the following:
    1 paste C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\ into the text box and selecting OK.
    2. paste other variations of it as C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\ in the text box and selecting OK.
    3. Select Browse and navigate to the Java.exe file and select it.
    4. try to specify other Java.exe files on my machine in other folders such as C:\Windows\system32 and SysWow64.

    All these attempts returns the message "could not find a J2SE SDK installed to the path:"followed by each way. "

  • call a procedure stored since SQL developer UI

    I have a stored procedure that is created with a date in parameter.

    Then I tried running SQL Developer by right-clicking the stored procedure, then it comes out a parameter window and I tried to enter the value in the entry value field by entering January 1, 2015 "because I know our server date format is DD-MON-RR."

    But it shows a window of incorrect format: Please use date format YYYY-MM-DD,

    Why is this?

    The generated SQL Developer code is less after I ' 2015-01-01'

    DECLARE
    DATE OF P_DATESTORED;
    BEGIN
    P_DATESTORED: = to_date('2015-01-01','yyyy-MM-dd');

    MySproc)
    P_DATESTORED = > P_DATESTORED
    );
    -restoration;
    END;

    I can just use below: for the date, the Server format is DD-MON-RR.

    Begin

    MySproc('01-JAN-2015')

    End;

    Thank you

    We use oracle 11g 2, the window environment.

    The code is generated (SQL Developer) client-side. This code generation, by design, does not count the current NLS_DATE_FORMAT of the session. Instead, it uses the date coded hard YYYY-MM-DD format. It seems to be a design decision.

    If you want to enter this date value in a particular format, use the following snippet directly in the SQL worksheet (F5: run script), modified for your desired date format, or omitted date format - I really discourage the to do.

    DECLARE

    DATE OF P_DATESTORED;

    BEGIN

    P_DATESTORED: = to_date ('& myinput', 'YYYY-MM-DD');

    MySproc)

    P_DATESTORED-ONLINE P_DATESTORED

    );

    -restoration;

    END;

  • SQL-Developer EA3 crashed during startup

    Hi, I start sql-developer on my Ubuntu 13.04 and it crashed with errors:

    "A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: SIGSEGV (0xb) at...".

    Version JRE: Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (7.0_45 - b18) (build 1.7.0_45 - b18)

    "Java VM: Java hotspot 64-bit Server VM (24, 45 - b08 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops).

    I tried "ulimit unlimited-c" before starting to enable writing core dump.

    But if I run sql-developer as the user root, then it start normally, so I suspect it's insufficient privilege when I start with normal first time user. I changed the owner of sqldeveloper & Java to myself, but it didn't work (which was owned by the root previously).

    I do not know how to analyze the dump or the error log file created during the accident, but I don't want to start it as root user. Thus, anyone who can give a solution would be appreciated.

    There are a few related threads when SQLDev running as root "solved" the problem on Ubuntu... looks like the final solution came down to this

    unset GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID

    Try this, or search the forums for the other 2-3 threads around this topic.

    Looks like it uses the driver g 11 then.
    You can try to get around by changing your ORACLE_HOME in a batch (inside the sqldev folder) file:

    set ORACLE_HOME = [your sqldev installation folder]
    Start sqldeveloper.exe

    Hope that helps,

    As another reviewer said Oracle 12 c requires SERVICE_NAME and no SID to connect to the PDB files.

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/articles/database/multitenant-part1-PDBs-2193987.html

    What is a database of the container

    So, what is the big advantage in this configuration, you may ask? Couldn't we have just created several ordinary vanilla instead of several PDB databases? Yes, we could have; but each of these 'plain vanilla' databases would have then his own load of instance (process and memory). PDB do not have an instance associated with them, eliminating this overload. Let's look at the installer with an example. Suppose you have a CBD (database container - the real database that hosts the other PDB files) called CONA, who has a calledPDB1 of the PDB. If you check the Oracle instance, you will see that there is one - that of the CBD. First, let's check the ORACLE_SID:

    [oracle@prosrv1 ~]$ echo $ORACLE_SID CONA

    That's all. There is only a single SID; not one for each PDB. Then we will check the process, especially very important that known as 'pmon ":

    See this last sentence above? See this line in the status of listening port you have posted?

    Service "Pdb1" has 1 instance (s).

    Pdb1 has a 'service' - a SERVICE_NAME allows to connect to him and all other PDB files.

    The query is:

     T2.ATTACH_CATEGORY,
     T1.FILENAME,

       AND REL_ID = 64146);

    And the output of SQL Developer is:

    I have following Setup for the BLOB_CONTENT column in the classic report:

    Any ideas what is causing this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    I don't have notes with me, but I think that the content of the blob must be selected as:

    DBMS_LOB. GetLength (blob_content) as blob_content

    and check that you have included the primary key in the results.

  • Running a package in SQL Developer

    Hello

    When I introduce a new package in a database and the package is given bz *.pkg file, what is the difference between the opening of the packing of files in SQL Developer (via 'Open '->' file') and then run the package and just copy paste the code Pl/SQL package in an editor.

    I plead the cause I did the following experiment, which I've posted it here:

    Faraz' Oracle DBA Blog: error opening a PL/SQL package as a file in Oracle SQL Developer

    Run the file that has your ddl inside package and execution of the package itself - two different things.

    When you open a file in SQL Developer, according to the file extension, you will get either a SQL worksheet or a PL/SQL Editor.

    I'm assuming that your package file has made two database objects, the package specification and package body. If this is the scenario, you need to open it in a SQL worksheet, set your connection details, and then run with F5.

    If your file contains only a spec or body in pkg, you can and should open in the procedure Editor. There, you will see your highlight syntax errors in the code itself.

    I speak a little of that here, with some screenshots so I hope it's easier to understand.
