Unable to update BlackBerry Smartphone OS 7.0 to 7.1 using the Desktop Manager

Hello...

I have bb 9380 curve that has OS 7.0, I want to update 7.1.  I downloaded the software for the device 7.1 and installed in the PC but when I try to update via the Desktop Manager, it shows me 'There is no update available for your device'... . How can I update?

Thank you

1. you noted in your profile here you have 'none' as a mobile operator or carrier, is this correct?

2. did you delete the Vendor.xml from PC?

Go to c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." (You might have another Vendor.xml file hiding on your computer.) Open Windows Explorer, and in organizing key (on Windows 7, there are similar tools for Vista and XP) click on 'folder and search options. On the display tab, make sure that your computer is configured to display the hidden files and folders. Once you have done this, look for your drive C:\ "Vendor.xml".)

* Starting with later versions of the OS6, there are now three copies of the SELLER. XML
C:\Program Files\Fichiers Research In Motion\AppLoader (for 32-bit Windows XP/Vista/7)
==========OR============
C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (for 64-bit Windows Vista/7)
C:\Documents and Settings\ * name * \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
C:\Documents and Settings\ * name * \Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
You can also just search of the SELLER. XML. ensure that you choose the ADVANCED SEARCH and include hidden files. It should display the file in three places. Delete all copies that it finds.

  • To update blackBerry Smartphones or not up to date - that is the question...

I'm really confused.  I just got a replacement Tour from Verizon.  On several occasions, when I am connected to Desktop Manager v5, a list of the updates appeared.  However, I didn't do the updates at this time. Now, when I log in, I get the message that I don't need updates.  The version on this phone is v4.7.1.40 (Platform 4.1.0.40).  Should I update?  If so, what is the best method to do so - since the Verizon site or the Blackberry site?  I'm a bit wary since the last time I did the update of the os, I almost lost everything on my phone.  So, I hope I have the last version/patch, etc...

Also, I have internet download manager, which includes my downloads.  Is that going to be a problem - not updated must be done via the Desktop Manager software?

    Thank you.

    Bifocals,

You have been very helpful once again.  I does not level up to what Verizon offers it or I'm having a problem making do if necessary.  Thanks for the useful JL-CMDR link - I'll upload that I do an upgrade my computer in the case.

I am a mental health professional and that you accept that Hamlet would be much better with the Blackberry - it's better than antidepressants.

  • Switching devices blackBerry Smartphones using the Desktop Manager

I just got my Torch 9800 replacement since my first only the battery was drainning (apparently a common problem).

Until I returned my old Torch 9800 I backed up and also used the device switch option in Desktop Manager. When it asked me to connect the new device, I unplugged the old camera, he took to the shop orange and then plugged my new camera.

Then an error has occurred and asked me to update the software on the new device. I did it... and then when I use switching devices, it asks me to connect the current device but the problem is... I don't have the camera more.

As I backed up all the data, I did a restore. He restored most of the data, but it has not restored my apps.

Any idea on how I can do?

I hope it is interesting all that.... and I get a better battery life this time!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Ah... never mind. While the device switch Wizard can indeed move a few apps, the backup/restore process does not have applications. So, in the State you are in, you must go to the source of your applications and re - get them. If you by AppWorld, the process is very smooth:

    • KB17625 How to install or transfer has already purchased apps from BlackBerry App World for BlackBerry smartphone

If you have from other sources, then you should see if these sources are a simple way for you. I hope you have good record of all your activation keys... and some will indeed have to be regenerated some developers to attach the key on the BB SPINDLE, which is now different since you have a new device.

    Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the community!

Yes, your office software should be able to use this IPD file as the source for a restoration. See the procedure here:

This application has requested the execution in an unusual way.
For more information, contact the application support team.

I tried to reinstall the software. I always get the same error message.

Does anyone have any suggestions I can try.

    Hello

you don't need Roxio just to move the images, just use your Blackberry as a USD external memory card reader.

Simon, connect you to the desktop computer > run the Desktop software > device > delete all databases.

Or install BBSAK and wipe the device.

  • An application using the Desktop Manager Update resets the phone

I develop for a Blackberry Storm using the plugin Eclipse JDE 4.7. I have change the version number on my application and reconstruction & regenerate ALX. I go to BlackBerry Desktop Manager to upgrade the application, and the phone has to reset. It's very frustrating because it takes almost a minute for it to end.

The application is a CLDC application, not a module of the system, and does not auto-run at startup, why my device needs to reset?

It frustrates me to no end, because whenever I make a change to the app and I want to test on the device again, it takes too much time.

I also noticed that this reset is not always necessary, sometimes just upgraded... but I did not understand why.

Here are a few useful links I hope re this situation:

As well as the suggestion of RexDoug on termination of your application (which is very good advice), you also think that if you do not change the signature of all the persistent classes, the application will upgrade easier.

Hello and welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, not... the BlackBerry Desktop Software is required to retrieve information about the device protected databases. They are not available in Windows Explorer.

What is happening with not being able to install DM? Something goes wrong? Or you may even try?

  • The blackBerry Smartphone ZOOM on Trackpad function when you use the camera no longer works. Help

I can't zoom in when using trackpad, and Volume up/down, Buttom 3 and 9 can also.  I am able to ZOOM when I bought it first, but then, after that, I can zoom 1 x 2 x more after 1 month of use.  Can someone advise how I can configure return the ZOOm feature.  I tried all the OPTIONs field and still can not.  Thank you

With the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart.

IF you have problems with several buttons/trackpad, then, this looks like what I've seen several times on a device with moisture damage.

Even sitting on a countertop bath during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause problems with keyboard and trackball up to this JUST-withered.

Really, it is more common than you think.

1 the battery immediately! Do not turn on your BlackBerry device.

    2. allow the device to dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days * (see below)

    3. DO NOT "check it every day" by placing the battery in. Leave what would to dry completely. It takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can damage only (humidity + power = disaster).

    3. If the unit is hot after the drying period, let it cool to room temperature before placing the battery in the.

    * Suggestions on your BlackBerry in a warm dry place (open, with battery):

    • Place the BB in a container of dry uncooked rice, and then you can also place it in one of the locations mentioned below.
    • On top of all heat dry emitting electronic components: TV or CRT, LCD, TV cable box / Satellite or plasma monitor
    • On the dashboard of your car on a day sunny

I didn't buy a data plan for the phone. I have a wireless modem for my desktop & wondering if I can use this to connect my phone to the web without buying data?

Do I need a data plan to send emails? Can I use my acct (yahoo) of existing email online, or I need to set up a special telephone? If so, please explain where and how? If this is not the case, what other info I have to configure the existing one? It seems that I need a PIN and e-addy & password (and assuming this is the yahoo password?)

Yes. Basically, to do anything other than use of the phone, you need a data plan. Period.

Yes... See the above reading material.

    No.... not required.

PIN... hmmm... There are several definitions for this acronym in the world of BB. The most usual is a unique identifier, as an IP address or phone number, that is assigned to the factory to your BB. It is used to register your BB for various services (Yes, through a data plan) to identify your BB on the network.

    I hope this helps.
