Uncertain of Windows 7 disc

I build a desktop computer for my own personal use, and I ordered a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium at Amazon. However, I have since checked and realized that it is an OEM version for systems integrators, and I now have my doubts about its use (I plan to go back and get a refund).
Also, looking at it more closely to the disc, it says "Intended to be distributed with a PC rebuilt". It has a key of product and COST, but it came in a package of disc small paper and did not have a sticker with the windows logo. I did not open it at all, because I don't think that's what I want.

So, my questions are:
Am I allowed to use this drive? (I'm the Office for me)
If so, it will work correctly without damaging the system? Is there anyway that I can check the product key to ensure that it is authentic?

And if I'm not allowed to use this version of Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), is anyway I can get a genuine version of Microsoft? I would rather stick with Windows 7, if possible.

I just want to point out: I haven't used this disc because I don't know if it is safe to use.

Well, you've already opened the packaged, once the Red Seal is broken, you're bound to the agreement.

There's nothing wrong with using it, in fact, that might be your only option right now for Windows 7 copies of detail being quite expensive or rare.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Windows installation disc needs for a new disk hard but is not available

    Hello

The hard drive on my PC HP badly shot - he tells me I need to check for consistency, but it cannot and will not run chkdsk on a restart and will not let me create a restore disk.

OK, I accept that I need to buy a new hard drive but I have no CD to install Win 7. The pc has a partition called "factory secctings" but it will not create a cd of Windows or a restore cd or a Sun.

Microsoft has said that it is not available for me because my serial number includes the letters OEM. I had a case created at HP, and a person called me and said I should get the CD of the os from Microsoft, or from the store I bought from (Staples). Staples said they have no CD for Win 7 and cannot make me a. They said get them from Microsoft or HP.

The number of cases is 3016271460

See that I get nothing from Microsoft, HP, or Stqples. I never got a CD with the pc because, I guess, it's there on the partition to factory settings, but with the failure of hard drive I can't use it.

  • Should I order initial recovery disks or upgrade to windows 7 discs?

I have a HP Pavilion p6116f Desktop 64 bit Vista operating system updated and original upgraded to Windows 7, my drive crashed so I'm looking for the recovery disc.  Should I order initial recovery disks or upgrade to windows 7 discs?

    Harddrivealert, welcome to the forum.

If you use original recovery disks it will restore the computer to its orignal configuration, including Vista.  You can't get recovery for the computer disks that include Win 7.  You will need to purchase a full copy of Windows.  You need to make sure that you can find all the drivers for Win 7.

    Hi Dominic,

Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.

original title: HOW I CAN UNINSTALL LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM

If there is absolutely nothing on the disk you want, just format the drive and install Windows XP:

    1. start from the CD. You may need to change the first boot to a CD device in the BIOS. To do this, when you switch on the look for a configuration message indicating what key to start typing, F2 and del are commonly used. The message appears for very long and it you miss, you have to restart the computer. In the BIOS, look for a section that contains the boot sequence, change it to CD, save it and let the computer to restart.

    2. the installation sequence is answering the message press any key to boot from the CD, and then press ENTER to set up Windows, press F8 to accept the EULA, delete the partition, press ENTER, type L to confirm delete, type C to create a partition, choose (Quick) format. Then begins the installation and restart will therefore ignore the subsequent message to press any key to boot from the CD-ROM.

    3. actual installation will begin and takes about 30 minutes. Finally, download all the missing Windows service packs and other updates.

  • ENVY of HP dv7 Notebook PC: install Windows 8 discs HP

I just ny laptop from HP repair center a week ago and I already had to perform a system reset.  I tried to reset my laptop and the message I got was, ' cannot reset no, because no disk partition detected ".  I called HP and they could not help, they told me that I have to reinstall Windows 8 and they post the discs to me.  HP blamed the problem of the partition on the fact that I had Windows 8 is installed and then I downloaded Windows 8.1 store Windows and it screwed in place the parition.  This answer has any sense at all to me.

As I mentioned earier, HP is mailing me new Windows 8 discs. However, the technical support representative HP told me that the discs do not come with a product key.  How can I perform a clean installation without Windows product key?

Yes at the time the upgrade of the OS is corrupt or delete the recovery partition, especially when it formats the disk.  It is always better to create recovery disks when you get the computer.

The key of Windows 8 is embedded in the BIOS and not need to know the key when you reinstall, the installation will recognize the key.  If you want to know what your key, download Belarc Advisor, and it will give you all kinds of information about your computer: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

It is best to upgrade to 8.1 Windows because it is more stable and with the new Windows 10 to come this year you will be eligible to get the free update if you are running 8.1

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

I need to format the hard drive but don't have the windows vista disc to reinstall, but have had the key code that vista was preinstalled do I have to buy a new drive for vista

    Hello

    How to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
