Understanding SFC newspapers

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, factory installed in my HP laptop.

sfc/scannow always freezes at 40%.

CHKDSK finds no error.

Here is the log of entries of SFC in the CBS.log file. It seems ends at CSI 00000099.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello

Sorry, no it isn't... you can check the actual CBS.log to see if the last entry it helps you
However, it should point to something specific. Even in this case we would guess in what concerns
the other thing that could be causing the error. Run the check disk with the hard drive
the manufacturer diagnostic utility car.

A format and reinstallation is the only other option and that may not work if the disc has
some kind of damage. Obviously replace the drive can work if it is the cause of the
issue. Best to run diagnostic tests.

  • I have to reset the HWM for marbles MV?

    Hi all
I have inhereted a system, which have hourly jobs to truncate the MV newspapers whenever they are empty, the job name is HWM of reset for newspapers of MV

in a high OLTP system can MV newspapers size becomes very large due to repeated insertion/removal automatic?

from my point of view, this isn't a big problem?
someone face or have a similar job in his approx., as I think to stop him.

    Thank you

Obviously, the first update after the TRUNCATE will have to be a FULL refresh.

It is possible for a newspaper of the too large MView. This usually happens in both
    a. the base table has a high rate of DTF, but the MV update are performed after a big lag in time (for example every 12 hours)
    b. a built MV on the base table has only refreshing but was not removed correctly. This causes the MV to stay enrolled and MV journal to continue to grow because the MV does not have the records purge.

Too much ('' how big is big? '' one responds with 'it depends') MV journal CAN quickly slow Refreshs.

I guess he was (or is probably), at some time in the past, a MV that had stopped refreshing and the DBA / Apps Team couldn't understand why newspapers on the base tables MV grew too great, so they have implemented a purge.
Then it becomes like "run us this script, because he was executed by the previous DBA, we don't know why" typical of action.

You're right, it's too long to post here. I tried to send mine here. No go.

    I only suggest:

    1. use Windows Live Skydrive to transfer the cbs log. Then send us a link in the newspaper.
But apparently you don't have SkyDrive.

SkyDrive is free and is part of the Windows Live products. Consider installing it.

System File Checker is not a universal solution, but it can help in certain situations.

You really ned to determine the nature of the error before deciding on solutions.

    Event Viewer reports

    1. normally, when an error occurs on your computer looking in Event Viewer should be your starting point to find a solution. More related system errors are recorded and get an exact copy of the relevant report is important. Unfortunately, is not easy to understand reports and most of the users computer need help with their interpretation. I have to say later interpretation.

2 Event Viewer includes three main newspapers of Windows. Here's the Application, security, and system. For purposes of troubleshooting system is by far the most important.

    3. to access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click the Date and time column header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the last report above.

    4. a tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. Select the Details tab and check the box in front of the XML view. Click the copy button to place a copy in the Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste it into the body of the message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

    5. He cautioned against three types of reports, information, and reports errors. In most situations, it is the error reports that offer the best information but sometimes WARNING reports provide useful clues.

    6. all reports have stamps date and hour and when troubleshooting, it is important to focus on the latest reports. Reports of studies from the point when the computer is started, and then check if a similar report appeared in the previous session. If errors do not repeat investigation as to why they happen is wasted effort.

    7. in the individual reports the most important information is the event ID and Source such as these help when looking for help on the internet. The description is just as important and copy the exact text to use as search criteria greatly helps achieve better results when using Google. Not paraphrase descriptions when other people asking for help.

  • A hunt for the Scan newspapers... _

Between sfc/scannow and MSE scan newspapers... and I was told there are other generators of journal autonomous automatic analysis in the background of the programs, there are files of newspapers of space-occupying stored in dozens of MB in size.

I have ZERO understanding of these memoirs written in very technical level beyond the comprehension of the average Joe computer. So I just delete them.

I know how to find the logs of CBS and MP (just deleted for a total of 125 MB). Where are the others?

    Hello

If you use the method in my answer above all computer will be searched for files ending with the .log
extension. .log files may exist in many places that some are created by the other program and not part of
    Windows.

In fact, the best thing to do with the .log files is to leave them alone and let handle them everything that creates
them. 3rd party programs that create a .log file usually include methods to remove or clean them.

    Also occasionally use disk cleanup.

3rd party tools that can help:

  • sfc/scannow cannot fix corrupted files windows 8. DISM / /restorehealth//cleanup-online image does not work! Any help appreciated.

    Hello

I can't try to repair the corrupted files on my Sony VAIO laptop to Windows 8. I hope someone can help me solve my problems. I would really like to know how to fix these problems I'm having. It really gets me.  If ever I have similar problems in the future.
All my drivers are up to date. I'm pretty confident that's not a malware issue. I take care of my line on activities that could infect my computer. Although I'm not 100% that excludes. I use Mcafee security Suite (fully updated and free with my broadband package). No other scanners time real AV are running. I However sometimes use a registry cleaner, after installation and installation of various programs. but I only use the default methods, never the registry COMPLETE cleaning cleaning method. In my view, these could create problems if used files. I also defragment my HARD drive of 1 TB at least once a week.
DISM / / cleanup-image online /restorehealth/ also is not working error message and log files can be found below!
I ran sfc/scannow and several times,
whenever I get the error message stating:

of them. Details are provided in the cbs.log windir\logs\cbs\cbs.log newspaper.
For example C:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log. Note that iis logging currently not
    supported in offline maintenance scenarios.
When I reboot win 8 after running sfc/scannow. Windows 8 shows that it is far from my system of up to 100%
It charges fine. I have run the sfc/scannow, and then he did exactly the same thing. I reboot and it updates my system. but does not not my files corrupted!
CHKDSK /F also freezes 27%. But when I starts in the my Sony VAIO #1 recovery disk and run diagnostics hardware HARD drive repair tool to try to fix the sectors defective etc on my HARD drive
which works 100% and says there is NO problem!
Here are the files of newspapers that I can access. I have to admit, now, that I do not understand them.
    even after much reading online:

How to run the command "SFC/scannow" at startup or in Windows 8
    Information
This will show you how the sfc/scannow command to start or in Windows 8 in an attempt to trouble altered or modified system files.

    Tip
If you get the error that Windows resource protection could not start the Repair Service when you try to run the SFC, then make sure that the Windows Modules Installer service is active and set to Manual.

Services - Start, Stop and disable in Windows 8

If SFC is unable to repair the system files corrupted because the Bank (source) is damaged, then you could run the Dism/online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command to set the Windows component store corruption and then then try to re-run the SFC scan.

    OPTION ONE

To run the SFC/SCANNOW command. at startup

    1. open a prompt at startup.

2 in the command prompt, type diskpart and press ENTER, and then type the size of the list and press ENTER. (see screenshot below)

3 make Act your boot drive drive letters (ex: 350 MB "System Reserved" partition) and the drive of Windows 8, type Exit , and then press ENTER. (see screenshot above)
NOTE: If you do not a "system Reserved" partition and are not multi-boot with other operating system, then the boot drive and the drive of Windows 8 may be the same drive letter.

4 in the command prompt, type the following command and press enter. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: , You will see a blinking cursor at the prompt to the end. It will take a while to finish running though.

    sfc/scannow damaged = C: \ /offwindir = D:\windows

    Note
You need to replace the the drive letter of the partition or volume where your Startup system files are stored in the offbootdir = C: part of the order above instead.

You need to replace the letter of your partition or volume Windows 8 in the offwindir = D: is part of the above command instead.

5 when the analysis is finished, I hope you will see an everything is ok message as below.

6 close the command prompt and restart the computer to start Windows 8.

    Note
If SFC could not fix something, then run the new command to see if it can be able to next time. Sometimes, it can take by running the sfc/scannow command 3 times restart the PC after each time completely fix everything what he is capable of.

If this isn't the case, then run Dism/online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to repair any corruption component store, restart the PC later and try the sfc/scannow command.

If still no, then you could do a Refresh of Windows 8, or run a System Restore using a restore point dated before the wrong file system occurred to fix. You may need to repeat doing a restore of the system until you find a restore point that is older that may work.

If not yet, then you can use the steps in the TIP box in the THREE OPTION section below to manually replace the files SFC could not fix.

    SECOND OPTION

To run the SFC/scannow command in Windows 8

    1. open an elevated command prompt in Windows 8.

2 in the elevated command prompt, type sfc/scannow , and then press enter. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: It may take some time to complete the race.

3 when the analysis is finished, I hope you will see that all is ok message as the screenshot below.
NOTE: Fortunately CFS was able to repair my files automatically damaged system.

If still no, then you could do a Refresh of Windows 8, or run a System Restore using a restore point dated before the wrong file occurred to fix. You may need to repeat doing a restore of the system until you find a restore point that is older that may work.

  • Newspapers of LDAP data using entire disk?

    Hi all

Last week, my Mac OS X 10.11.2 running Server 5.0.15 was dangerously near full and now he declare 'Zero bytes available.

Using OmniDiskSweeper, I was able to identify about 21 000 files named log.0000000001 through log.0000021329 taking about 235 GB located at the following location:

    / private/var/db/openldap/data /.

WOW! Something tells me that I have all that, especially since it is a stifling of the machine, but I thought I would ask here first:

    1. can I safely delete these files? Do I really need?

    2. How can I identify what is causing these logs to be created and stored? It is not normal or expected activity, is it?

    Thank you very much

    Willhaus

Then, I moved and remove the vast majority of these files, because I don't see why I would need them, and the server keeps do new all few minutes or a few hours, so I'm having a lot of replacements soon enough.

But still, can someone help me understand what is what in fact occur and how to stop it?

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I also noticed that there is an about 25 GB of files here:

    /private/var/db/OpenLDAP/migration/oldsystem.tar

It was created on the same day 10/10/15, which comes from the grip of these files newspapers of thugs. Y at - it possibly a link there?

I'm definitely not an expert when it comes to these things, so that any help would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Willhaus

  • find the entries in the log file for sfc /scannnow XP

How to analyze the entries in log file generating the program Checker (SFC.exe) resources of Microsoft Windows in Windows xp?

That means "[SR]" in the findstr/c: "[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > sfcdetails.txt entry in the cmd window to find newspapers?

    What you trying to do?

If you read this article on Vista (KB 928228) - which does not apply to XP - while the command does is use the fact that "each entrΘe the SFC.exe program in this file has a [SR] tag" to remove entries related to sfc.exe since services component-based' sign (CBS), which contains other entries as well.

If you ask what the letters SR actually rest in this context, you will have to search you, but I think that documentation on this subject is quite deeply buried at Microsoft.

  • MSRT newspapers

I downloaded and installed the MSRT tool and I activated the Auto updates.  I understand that this tool will be updated on the second Tuesday of each month and then will run a scan on my system.  No trace of this analysis is saved and where going to find?

Not sure if it will be automatically updated on each Patch Tuesday (I do it manually). But newspapers are %SystemRoot%\debug\mrt.log (Scan Log) and %SystemRoot%\debug\mrteng.log (event log).

  • Need Windows XP Service Pack 3 CD to scan sfc

The original title: Service Pack 3 disk

has ran sfc/scannow and it asks for service pack 3 disc.  do not have SP3 disk; one has been downloaded.

Here's the deal. SFC/scannow is essentially useless. Yes, it is possible to use the slipstream process and create an installation CD bootable XP which will be integrated into SP3. And Yes, it is possible to use it with a system at the level of the SP3 and then run SFC/scannow.

    But...
It will probably not help you a bit!
If you've hung around this forum long enough, you will see a number of people well intentioned (the technical support engineers often so-called MIicrosoft!) suggests that users run SFC. But it is almost always the bad advice. Even if one can understand how to move through all of the hoops to make it work, it probably won't resolve the problem is to have the user.
That being said, assuming you're the curious type...
If you want to run SFC/scannow, SP levels must match. So if you have Windows XP installed on your hard drive and it has been updated to SP3 level and you want to run the SFC, it is better to have an installation CD of Windows XP which is at the level of the SP3. Yes, it is possible to copy this CD i386 folder to a location on your hard drive (usually C:\i386) and modify a registry setting:
There are a lot of hits on Google using the slipstream SP3 into a Windows XP installation CD (and Yes, this will result in a new bootable CD):

My computer was always clean before the incident of the mouse. I have no idea on what caused the system freeze. Could be a clever virus that only does move it after days of length to increase stealthness.

    Thanks for you help,

[EDIT to see answer: my last post]
There is no virus, this was caused by the corrupted registry windows xp.

    Hi Alex,

I recommend you follow these steps to check if the problem is caused by a party program "smart" virus or by a third party.

    Step 1:

Download, install and run Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if that helps.

Note: You may lose data while eliminating the virus.

    Step 2:

Test the issue in a clean boot State in order to check whether the problem is related to a third-party program conflict.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.
