Newspapers of LDAP data using entire disk?

Hi all

Last week, my Mac OS X 10.11.2 running Server 5.0.15 was dangerously near full and now he declare 'Zero bytes available.

Using OmniDiskSweeper, I was able to identify about 21 000 files named log.0000000001 through log.0000021329 taking about 235 GB located at the following location:

/ private/var/db/openldap/data /.

WOW! Something tells me that I have all that, especially since it is a stifling of the machine, but I thought I would ask here first:

1. can I safely delete these files? Do I really need?

2. How can I identify what is causing these logs to be created and stored? It is not normal or expected activity, is it?

Thank you very much

Willhaus

Then, I moved and remove the vast majority of these files, because I don't see why I would need them, and the server keeps do new all few minutes or a few hours, so I'm having a lot of replacements soon enough.

But still, can someone help me understand what is what in fact occur and how to stop it?

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I also noticed that there is an about 25 GB of files here:

/private/var/db/OpenLDAP/migration/oldsystem.tar

It was created on the same day 10/10/15, which comes from the grip of these files newspapers of thugs. Y at - it possibly a link there?

I'm definitely not an expert when it comes to these things, so that any help would be welcome.

Thank you

Willhaus

If I bring in photos from Iphoto, I use more disk space on my hard drive. I don't want to replicate my entire file. I have 26000 photo photos in I.

You need to duplicate pictures unless you want to use the PSE as external editor for iphoto. In iphoto, your photos are stored in a library owner, which should never be marred with programs other than iphoto. Written to the iphoto library from outside iphoto is the best way to corrupt and lose all the photos it contains.

So you can either set PSE as external editor and send the photos of in iphoto, or you export photos from iphoto to use them outside of this program.

  • Can I get the Win 7 on a hard drive with multiple partitions without erasing all the data on the disk

I have a HP p6310f with a 1 TB hard drive partitioned into two partitions.  One I have a Win 7 OS, which becomes more and more corrupt.  I would get a new version on the other partition and keep the old version until I don't know that I have restored all the programs and data properly, just in case I need something and are struggling to rebuild.  Is this possible?  When I tried to install the recovery disks, they said that the entire disk, not just the score, would be erased.  This seems a bit silly, but I am very worried about losing key information and programs that I am not able to restore.

    Hello

If you use HP recovery disks to reinstall the operating system, you are right that they reformatted the whole HARD drive before installing the operating system.  As far as I know, has no way around that.  The only thing I can suggest is to make sure that you are able to get the installers of any program that you need before you restore the PC and maybe do two backup copies of all your personal data, just to be sure.

On the link below, just select your operating system (Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit) and verify that you are able to download the drivers and software you need before you reinstall it.  You can always save installers for a writable DVD etc. now and then just to run it from the disk when you want to reinstall.

  • How to format and re - install Windows 7 using recovery disks/Partitions?

    Hello..

    My product-

    HP DV4-5109tx

    Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a free space of 78 GBs that I'm not able to use... As when I try to use the "disk management" and right-click on the free space to "format partition" this option has been grayed out... !!

Please suggest if I can use this space without formatting? (I was suggested for formatting)

In addition, due to some other issues too I want to format my Windows (and reinstall) IE drive C so that the free space problem can be solved... Also I don't want no data in my other drives to be formatted...

I have the recovery partition and the recovery disks sent by HP...

Please help me how I can use them to solve my goal...

    Thank you

It's simple, as I suggested in my previous post.

Once you have a drive like the one on the image management window simply click New Simple Volume. Create a new partition called "New Volume". Make a right click on it and the option to format it will appear.  The strips on the 75,38 GB of free space in your image indicates that the selected action will take place on this point in the disk management window. You can change the name for the new volume in Windows Explorer.

  • I use 67GB disk hard 160GB but only 21 GB of free space. Why?

The title says it all.  I have eliminated the system recovery files, cleaned the disk, run Chkdsk, used all the tools I can find but does not know where the rest of the disk is used.  The total space is reported by Windows Explorer properties.  The use of real is reported by TreeSize.  I get the same results using Windows Explorer and check the size sub directories.  How to reclaim that space?  I'm tempted to make a backup, reformat the disk, and then restore the system.  This seems to be a pretty radical approach.  There must be a way to know where this space is gone.

XP & prerequisites windows OS had limited space detected HD, updates

for xp with SP2 & SP3, usually got the rest of the hd used through CHKDSK.

One could imagine that if explore sees the full amount, then at some point

part of it has been divided. Try to run, type: diskmgmt.msc msc, the lost partition

must be seen, L.click on this subject, go to actions, select all,: 'enable '.

If you see the space but are blackened space, then it must be formated, R.click

in this regard, select format, follow the default settings.

If you see the space & want to combine it to C:, and then install the xp installation cd, exit

menu, restart the pc, boot from the xp cd, press the cd menu "recovery console", r

Press 1 for drive C:, press key for password recovery, type: DiskPart

In DiskPart, delete all partitions, create one, press the key type, ESC: EXIT

Restart on a xp cd, select install xp, format the HD, install xp. This should help you

the entire disk for the operating system space...

  • During the compression of an entire disk in XP, combine multiple files to single-sector?

I'm curious about the similarities of compressing an entire disk works in xp-Edition family versus how a unit with compression used to work in older versions of Windows like ME, 98, etc... I'm talking about how in older versions, Windows would give a specific amount of disk space and then would butt beginning of the right to one single file at the end of another. It seems to me that it is not good to compress the files in single-sector with the family xp Edition because they will still use a file area, or that is incorrect? If they are correct, then when you compress an entire drive with xp-Home Edition, then work just like the older versions?

  • Used virtual disk space

Myself in trouble and am not sure how best to cope. Got a Windows Server 2008 that is configured with a 95 GB HD (which is 95% of 100 GB virtual disk) and now I am unable to create snapshots due to lack of availaable to free space on the data store. I used the disk option "shrink" management Windows disk and reduced the size of the 'C' of 75GB drive and ran the option boom of VMware Tools, which is not the amount of free space on the data store, as seen in VCenter. Also see desperate to back up the data by removing the server and re-building/restoration with a smaller drive 'C' does anyone know of all the other options I could try? Thank you.

  • With VMware View can use persistent disks and roaming profiles together

Site already has XP roaming profiles configuration and are again VDI Win7 so new profiles (username.v2) will be created anyway. However, I want to continue to use roaming profiles, hosted on a server so that the data is replicated and backed up. (redundant solutions already in place) Initially while we configure persistent discs and the VDI will be not synchronize with the roaming profile on D:\   I confirmed that my roaming profiles work very well on a physical system running Win7, but problems with the VDI. I was wondering if I can get them in sync in the current configuration, or if I should scrap the drive persistent in a way that the data will be all stay and synchronize on roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

    Hi, welcome in the community

If you want to use your existing installation of roaming profile, then the best option is do not use "persistent" disk configuration Redirect to drive persistent static and it brings the use of extra storage.

While commissioning a desk with persistent disk pool, view and changes the path of the user in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Profile profile list to the D drive.  This may conflict with your roaming profile configuration. To confirm that, in the physical machine, change string values "Default", 'Profile directory' and 'Public' in the list of profiles registry which refers to a new path.

    > If I should scrap the persistent drive in a way that the data will be all remain and synchronize with roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

Yes, it could be a convenient option for you. Deploy pools dedicated without redirection of the user's data

  • [Performance] Data store Virtual disk LUN or a raw device

We try to find the solution the faster for one of our internal systems.

Currently, we have a data store that is located in a SAN iSCSI via a virtualdisk file.

Since we want to benefit the maximum of iSCSI SAN configuration, we want to know what solution is faster:

-Via the data as virtual disk (diskfile) store

-Via direct LUN mappingl (mapping RAW)

I searched the documents, but it is impossible to find the figures/numbers how much performance gain, we would be able to get.

Us don't use clichés (and do not use then as well), and what other pinpoints should I also everything by making the decision to change the architecture?

There may be some performance improvements, you can do in your env, but they come from VMDK of RDM.

  • Transfer data to another disk group

    Version: 10 gr 2
    Platform: Sun OS 5.10

We have a database of CARS 2 knots with 4 terabyte of shared storage. Current size of the DB is only 1 TB stored in Diskgroup DATA1.
Can I create a new disk group and move all of the data in DATA1 (1 to) to the newly created disk group?

If this is not possible in 10 gr 2, is it possible in GR 11, 2?

    Hi Pete,.

Can I create a new disk group and move all of the data in DATA1 (1 to) to the newly created disk group?

I think the best way to do this is:

When you add new disks in the same diskgroup, and then remove the old drives.
ASM perform the automatic migration of data to new disks without having to create a new diskgroup, whitout donwtime. (on 10g you can do)

If you need to rename the diskgroup in Oracle 11 g R2 you can do.

If this is not possible in 10 gr 2, is it possible in GR 11, 2?

Yes... its possible. (if you can migrate partial data)

  • Encrypting the entire disk - Satellite A200 - 1 G

    Hello!

I have a big problem and the search for any solution. Firstly sth on my configuration components, and the portable computer hardware.
It's Toshiba A200 - 1 gb (European product code), which is the Santa Rosa with Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 platform on Intel P965 chipset. It comes with a SATA drive and I think with AHCI enabled (?) (I have no possibility of control via the bios). In the end it is ATI HD2600 Mobility.

    Problems:
Vista HP - installed via Recovery disk from Toshiba, after installing, everything is ok, after encryption (no matter if "while working" or"boot"), I often receive BSoD like a fist in my face almost every 10 minutes: /.

XP PRO SP2 - installed as any new install, after encryption I get BSoD occasionally and bugs as "Socket buffer overflow" or more often "could not write to disc - something with disc buffer.

I'm looking for solutions, there's a pretty big chance that these errors are not connected with Compusec (although all reported cases after WDE), perhaps it's because third-party drivers or smth.

If at the end of my question:
    1. are there any known issues with CompuSec or general with Encrypting the entire disk to my Toshy?
    2. What is that AHCI - enabled or disabled?

PS: I'm losing hope... in fact my drive is 200 GB, such encryption takes so long to buy tiles there encryption only with one

    Hey,.
So, is not an easy task because barely anyone here working with it. Have you already talked to the application programmer? I checked the site and does not guarantee that the drive encryption works under all the configuration of the computer.

So, maybe you can try encryption TPM that is built into Vista and can encrypt your drive too. It s secure and it costs nothing. It s do the same job as your compusec and you have officially supported by microsoft.

First, update the bios and check your bios settings. I can't really help you because I have never worked with this compusec, but you should visit the site Web of EC Infosystems and ask in their forum for bugs with tohshiba books/Santa Rosa platforms/etc...

I hope that you have little chance, if not I suggest you try the TPM.
