Understanding shared RAM

Hello

HP suggests I buy a SHARED RAM module to 125 Dollars based on the module of my laptop code: 641369-001. This HP product is the only module marketed as SHARED. My laptop is a module of ADATA 4 GB at $ 45 and after performing a global search on the web, find the category shared does'nt. Shared fact implies to my second existing memory slot in my book or module execution? My graphics card is DEDICATED so I don't see why shared RAM is necessary. Except that I missunderstood something.

WHAT IS A SHARED RAM MODULE?

WHY DO I NOT APPEAR UNDER A DIFFERENT BRAND OF PRODUCT?

IS THIS THE SAME MODULE A-DATA I BUY WITH THE SAME EXISTING PLUG WORKING SMOOTHELY WITH THAT?

Hello

I'm not familiar with this, but have noticed that HP use two different modules on laptops with 6 GB of RAM (for example). The 4 GB of RAM is a chip 16 one and the 2 GB RAM is a module of 8 chips. You can see the chips yourself. The shared module has only 4 chips on each side (8 chips module) so I think that these chips can only be used with a module of 16 chip. I don't know this advice and buy the same module as the original.

How can I recover my system RAM and the RAM 5470 use?

The system reserves some ram regardless of graphics. Shared graphics would use much more than that, I think. Note the amount on your Specs page with the original 4 GB of ram:

  • How can I change the value shared RAM on Satellite A300 VGA?

I own a PSAGCA A300 I was woundering how I can lower the allocated shared memory?
At present it has allocated 1279 MB of shared memory ontop of my HD 512 MB I think it's really useless for my needs.

How do I lower it? I checked the Bios and it could not find in there... any ideas?

    It is not possible.
Everything is controlled by software and shared memory will be assigned automatically.
This means that if you run some heavy applications like games the value of shared memory is greater than performing simply applications like the browser or Word.

But like I said above; everything is controlled automatically!

  • Shared RAM

    Hello

    Equivalent two-channel and shared memory?

How can I tell if my laptop memory is shared/dual channel?

How will I know if my mobile phone supports the DDRl 1.3 Volts?

Are all DDR3 modules shared / twin memory?

    Thank you in advance.

    Concerning

Well this isn't 1.35 1.3 volts and if the computer already has a 1.5 volt module I would not mix memory of 1.5 and 1.35 so get another 1.5 volts. Of course, the system is OK with him.

  • Sharing RAM with video card

Hey. I have Samsung laptop with video card ATI radeon x 2300 (128 MB) and 4 GB of RAM. I heard that there is a possibility to share some of the RAM of your pc with video card. I don't use all the RAM so I think it would be very good luck to increase the performance of the video card. Is it possible to do this? :)

    PS same thanks before.

Here is the procedure (if supported by your device and your BIOS): http://www.ehow.com/how_5924855_adjust-ram-used-video-ram.html.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • I do not understand the information on my graphics

    Hi all

In fact I do not understand that it means everything, it says that I have

1204 MB total available graphics memory

    128 MB dedicated graphics memory
    0 MB dedicated system memory
    1076 MB shared system memory
What is the actual information on my graphics memory? What is 128 MB or 1 GB
If its 128 MB is not why I use total memory available as shown above?
And if the 1 GB graphics, why I can't run games of good quality?
Above is the real screenshot of information

[EDIT: post your complete specifications at the beginning is always useful-]
I see now that there may be different versions of the Acer Aspire V32-471, and some of them have
a dedicated graphics card and a respectable card to this (see the link at the bottom of page) - GT 640 M 2 GB apparently.
If yours is one of them you probably have not activated the card.
Read your user manual to learn how to configure the machine automatically (or manually
If applicable) switch between HD4000 and the dedicated card. ]

"Don't tell my computer cannot be upgraded.
-Even laptops that come with a graphics card are not usually extensible, and
When they are, it is not economically viable because of the cost of the upgrade card.
[ EDIT 2: the only kind of notebook computers in which you can upgrade graphic is are those who use MXM cards.]
Even in this case, it may be difficult to get a card that has a fit right, so for all purposes useful
a laptop is not extensible. ]

As you have an integrated graphics Intel HD4000. This is not a graphics card. HD4000 is
a form or the integrated graphics card. In this case, it it is not part of the cpu.  Older integrated graphics have been
in the form of a chip on the motherboard
A dedicated (as a separate card that attaches to the moterboard) graphics card uses what is called
VRAM which is a real dedicated graphics memory.

Acer has apparently allocated a fixed amount of RAM to (dedicated), while allowing up to 1 GB be accessible 'dynamic' held by a game or other software that uses the HD4000.
So in this case the extra 896 MB of system RAM in this case would be called "shared" RAM
As long as you're not multitasking while games the HD4000 should be able to access any
    full 1 GB of RAM.

Laptops are configured differently to PC and they have different methods between mfg
Some have a software that allows you to change the amount of RAM allocated to the integrated graphics card.
and some may have an option in the BIOS, as does my PC to allocated different amounts of RAM to
    the HD4000 graphics.

However, as others have mentioned, the HD4000 has limited capacity vs a high mid range
graphics card.  It is one of the best onboard graphics at this time (recently after having been replaced
with Intels new cpu), but it is still limited.
If you had to be able to book or devote more RAM graphics system he probably wouldn't
improve performance much to the resolution you are using.

A few points for your graphics below - note that there is a small difference in
different between laptop frame rate makes and models.

  • Increase the video RAM on a Satellite C660-1N6

I tried to run a software for video editing (Cyberlink PowerDirector 8) on my Satellite C660-1N6, but it does not start.

I was informed that 64 MB of ram of the laptop is not enough. My old laptop had a shared ram of with256Mb card SIS Mirage 3 and the program worked fine.
I told myself I must increase the video ram 256 MB, but I don't know how this will affect the operation of the excellent laptop.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    Hello

I found some info that your laptop has graphics UMA (Unified Memory Architecture). This means that the GPU uses system RAM instead of having there own dedicated RAM. They are fine for the use of the web, watching movies and so forth, but don't not to play or using video graphics performance of publishing applications.

As I know there is no way to manually set. Everything works automatically and depends on the RAM used in Notepad.

New laptops hardware have auto RAM allocated to VRAM by internal parameters, which you cannot change. Only way to increase the VRAM with shared RAM is to add more RAM to increase so that when the VRAM resumes the RAM you still enough leftovers to use.

    Hi guy,

  • Real-time target - change IP and shared network varables

    Hello

I create an application for the system in time real (Compact RIO).

All data between the (current running on a windows PC-based) GUI and the real time system - is transferred via shared network variables.

Shared variables are hosted on the target.

I attributed the static IP address to the real-time target.

    Now for the question:

After the deployment of the application in real time on the Rio target compact

If I change the IP address of the target: how the shared variables 'know' to connect to the target?

There is no place in the GUI (running on windows PC based) I set the IP address of the target.

So I change the IP Address of the target (and for the sake of argument if I change the IP address of the PC, but they are always on the same subnet) - how to 'know' how to connect?

Looks like a basic question I am absolutely certain I'm missing something to understand shared variable...

    Thnaks

    Hello Hazkel,

The IP address of your shared time variable real target is located in the *.aliases file when you create an executable file, you will need to change there.  See the example below:

  • Pavilion 15 E3B55PA #ACJ: limit of RAM upgrade

I use a HP Pavilion 15 laptop (hp pavilion e015tx 15) and I understand the RAM can be upgraded to a maximum of 8 GB. I added a Kingston 8 GB stick and more existing 4 GB stick Elpida, and the properties of the system show 12 GB of RAM available.  I can use the laptop without problems (so far). If the guide specifies an upper limit of "suggested" RAM expansion or adding 12 concerts will interrupt?

    TIA.

    You are welcome.

Not really, two-channel happiness with two 4 GB gives almost identical performance compared to the 4 GB & 8 GB. But I see no problem with this, except that your model is UNTESTED in configuration 4 + 8 when he was released.

  • How can I simulate RAM in Multisim?

I try to have my student simulate the functioning of the RAM on Multisim 9 but I can't understand how do. I tried the RAM components, but they are all dummy files. I tried to use the components of the registry file and I got the component two ports to load register 0 but I can't load any other registers. What I want to do is to ask students to load the gray code in 16 registers and scroll to show me that they understand how RAM works.

    Hi Tyrone,

There is a 2K8RAM that comes with Multisim 9. It is under the Misc Digital and TIL family group. Just give it a try and see if that meets your needs.

  • Question about RAM CL

Hi guys. I'm finalizing my PC build and I have a question about ram CL I can't find answers for hackers page here. http://ppbm7.com/index.php/news/planning?showall= & start = 3

I would use these two RAM sticks for example.

Module 240 pin DDR3-1333 transcend JetRam™ 8 GB High Performance: CL9, layer 6 circuit board

Transcend JetRam™ High - Performance 8 GB DDR3-1600 240-Pin Module: CL11, 6 layer PCB, ultimate card stability and cross-platform compatibility

My question is, what is the best for video editing? On the one hand we have 1333 mhz to with a CL of 9. On the other hand, we have RAM 1600 mhz faster, but at a higher CL of 11. Now, I'm not one to get caught up in the technical aspects as it may seem, but I don't understand so I can make decisions, especially when price is a factor. In this case however, they are at the same price...

Well good for video editing, important criteria for RAM is:

    • Never, never crashes - it is very important; choose only RAM sticks (certified QVL) certified provider and do not use unmatched sticks
    • Speed; faster is better - while true also, past at the speed of the RAM, or lowering of the CASE wait cycles (latency) contribute to the speed, but the gains are very low; Faster RAM is hardly perceptible vs CPU speed more fast which is very sensitive (I played with it a lot on some versions overclock and test first with PPBM speed and speed up the processor 5% performance contributes to 5% where speed RAM about 30% can speed up about 1%)

Google "what is the CASE for the RAM" and one week at self-teaching yourself if you want to even begin to really understand speed RAM! I know enough to know there is a lot to learn about the subject. The good news is that you don't need really to know a lot to build a reliable, excellent for running Adobe products, including the first, Photoshop and After Effects:

    • Use only RAM who has certified the seller of memory for your motherboard; do not assume that if the seller indicates a set 4x8Go of sticks that will work with your motherboard that two sets of such RAM will work with a card mother 8 locations either! (too late to discuss here, but various factors may override the controller memory in the processor itself - factors include voltage RAM, number of sticks, RAM clock, status of CASE of waiting settings speed, voltage of the cpu memory controller and maybe more)
    • Increasing the speed of the RAM always helps if slightly for first speed up to 1600 MHz (for x 79 in any case) and wins the speed of RAM which are still lighter

Now, back to why both sets of sticks are the same cost. They most likely use the same chips of RAM, which is an important factor for what it costs to build the RAM sticks. While the Asus motherboard you buy allows full customization of many, many, many things, unless you are an extreme Overclocker and plan to spend a few weeks to fine-tune a new simple version you in the bios of motherboard and it say to use XMP settings. This indicates the motherboard, how to set the speed of the RAM and sticks of timings CASE for your particular RAM with the settings the seller intended.

You really know a lot about what you are doing to set the timings RAM in any way other than the simple choice of XMP settings safely. And, you can easily burn your CPU if you don't know what you're doing and you choose some really bad parameters.

    Kind regards

  • Dc7600 USDT Beepcode

    My DC7600 USDT is unbootable and follows beepcode;

    6 beeps - flashing red 6 times 1 Hz.

    The manual reads:

"On systems with integrated graphics card, check / replace the systemboard.

My question: is there something on the Board that I can 'check' rather than replace?

The replacement is expensive and hardly worth it in my opinion.

Try reseating the Ram of your computer module.

6 beeps means a problem with the memory video pre, which is the shared RAM system used by the onboard graphics in your case.
