Firefox remembers the story, but doesn't remember the closed tabs, sessions.
It happened after the Fox update to v. 19.0.2 on a single computer. In Options of Firefox is set to use Custom Settings For History, everything is checked except always use Private Browsing Mode. So I'm not in private browsing.
When I press to Undo Closed button nothing happens, & in the Manager session Save Session button is grayed. I tried to install other add-ons that remembers the tabs. tried to reinstall/disable these 2 modules. Did ' t help. On my 2nd computer I have same modules, same settings and they work normally. the 3rd closed computer undo works tabs also. How to solve this problem? I decided to ask before Firefox Reset...

Sync is a separate issue. It works, but quite often it connects me sync account. Then I can connect only using the recovery key password and long (option choice I have no device with me because he does not accept the key to pairing device).
Thanks for reading.
In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:
- do not erase browsing history
- Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "Use the custom settings for history": [X] clear history of Firefox closing > settings

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

I only had this problem since update to firefox 25. I tried to reset the deafaults ff. He did restore the "undo close tab" for a short period. but when I quit and restarted ff I have the same problem again. I don't want to have to keep resetting to the default settings, because it's too much time to then get back all my preferences.
I had this problem as well, I couldn't choose "Restore recently closed tabs" as historic because it is grayed out.
I went to Subject: config und from 0 (10 is the default value), browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo to 10 and I set browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo to 0 (including default 3) 3.
For me, this problem solved my problem und now I can restore recently closed tabs.
-
For some time, four choices in the restore section (tabs of other devices, Previous Session Restore recently closed tabs and recently closed Windows) have been shaded. Keyboard shortcuts do not work, and didn't undo closed tab in the context menu of the tab.
I found and tried various patches to do this, including:
- From Firefox in Mode safe without addons.
- Firefox reset.
- Change the values of browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo in all: config.
- Check to see if I have a user.js in profile Firefox. (I don't).
- Verify that the private browsing is not the default mode. (It is not).
- Create a profile to see if it had the same problem. (He did.)
- Running anti-malware analysis. (BitDefender and SpyBot).
- Temporarily disable my anti-virus and anti-malware.
Any of these solve my problems.
Other devices tab is grayed out, but I've never used, and it might have previously grayed out.
The story works in general. Sites I visit are added to the log.
Preferences are saved correctly when I change them.
Any advice on how to solve the problem would be much appreciated, as I am very fond of these features and often served until they stopped working.
ADDITIVE
After that looking through the list of preferences of change created by the resolution of the problems, I tried now also reset the following text:
- browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion
- browser.newtabpage.storageVersion
- Browser.cache.Disk.Capacity
- Browser.cache.Disk.smart_size.first_run
- Browser.cache.Disk.smart_size.use_old_max
- Browser.cache.Disk.smart_size_cached_value
The problem persists.
I finally managed to understand this. In searching the Web, I found a thread detailing a similar problem on the Mozillazine forum. The problem has been identified as a missing browser.sessionstore.enabled set, so I went looking in Subject: config and couldn't find it. After creating the entry, by assigning the value true and restart Firefox, the functions of recovery/recently started working again. Apparently, some bookmark plugins and session-based can cause this problem, but in my case, it must have been something else, that I never had no such plug-ins installed.
If you have this problem, here's a detailed itinerary of the way I fixed it. Whereas there seems to be several problems that can cause restore/recently functions to stop working, it is not a guaranteed fix, but it is still a thing to try, at least.
- Open a new tab or window.
- Type of topic: config address in the box and press ENTER.
- Read reviews and promise to be careful.
- Copy this: browser.sessionstore.enabled - and paste in Subject: config'search box in s. press ENTER.
- If you copied the text at the top right, the setting should appear in the list. If it is not the case, you have the same problem, I did. (I would say that you copy/paste the text indicated and only this text before moving on to double check).
- If the parameter does not exist, right click on the parameters of the list and choose new-> Boolean. Paste the parameter name that you copied previously in the name box, click OK and then set the Boolean true. Once you have click OK, restart Firefox, and (hopefully) things should work properly again.
Thanks to everyone who offered help and thoughts!

due to a problem, I needed to re - install FireFox
When I tried to customize the toolbar there are far fewer available buttons and the 'Open closed tab' button is not there
my other computer hasCheck your extensions list to see what is disabled.
I do not see why you do not want to install an extension to do or unnecessarily wasting space on the toolbar when you can use 'Ctrl + Shift + T'.
- Keyboard shortcuts | How | Firefox help
- Firefox and other shortcuts of the browser (comparison table)
- Browsing listed in Firefox
- Configuration tabs, extracted about: config entries - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
One of the following extensions may need to be updated, if this is one of those it has probably "Tab" in its name. Disabled extensions appear at the end of the of the
list extensions ("" subject: addons ' ").- 'Undo Closed Tabs Button.
- 'Toolbar buttons' or if you want so many buttons in an extension, you can choose individually from the list here:- http://codefisher.org/toolbar_button/toolbar_button_maker
- "Tab Mix Plus" a bloated extension that prevents you from learning Firefox.

It's been a long time I used Firefox (got a Macbook and for some reason any just used Safari for a long time), so please forgive me if I am just missing something in the settings of Firefox.
Anywho, I have Firefox put in place to remember not my story because I like the intimacy it offers. I think it is strange that I put him in place to delete my history, but when you go into 'History', it keeps a list of all my closed tabs... This kind of defeat is not the purpose of having the browser saves don't not my story?
Is there a way to prevent Firefox to keep this list of my recently closed tabs?
Hello drubacca117, private browsing (aka "never remember history") means that firefox will not write no historical data on your hard drive. as long as the browser is open it will store these tabs recently closed in the RAM in order to restore quickly if needed - if you don't like this feature, you can disable it this way:
enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) & look for preferences named browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo. Double-click on it and change the value to 0 and restart the browser once. -
Undo Close tab does not work in windows 7 for firefox latest version 29,0
You can do this via CTRL + SHIFT + T as well.
You can try to start Firefox in Mode safe to see if Firefox works correctly without error? You can start Firefox in Mode safe below:
- Windows/Mac: choose Help > restart with disabled modules
- Linux: run firefox-safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole
If Firefox opens fine with no problems, it is probably one of your extensions that is causing the problem. You can reactivate your modules one by one until you find the one that is causing the problem to be re-activated.

In Firefox 29 Center by clicking at the top of a tab in a zoomed window will open a closed tab previously instead of close the tab that you clicked.
Is this expected behavior? And if so is it possible to turn it off?
Thank you
Middle-clicking on a tab the farm, any means - by clicking on an empty area of the tab bar opens a new tab.
A different behavior is probably caused by an add-on like Tab Mix Plus tab-based. If you are unsure if you have a such add-on, restart Firefox with disabled modules and check if the problem persists.

"Never remember history" allows to always "recently closed tabs".
I use permanent private browsing (i.e., selected "history never remember ' with 'always use private browsing mode' selected (and"accept cookies")), and still under 'History' tab 'Recently closed tabs' is always a viable option that shows where I've been.
Granted, is that before I close Firefox, but what I want is for tabs closed is no longer be registered or my recent history. I have tried with no Add-ons (in which case they were interfering) but same problem.
In case it isn't clear, here is an example: 2 tabs open, one of which is Google. I Google search for XYZ. Get my results, close the tab. At this point, I have a tab open and when I look at 'Story' 'recently closed tabs' option will show "Google: XYZ." I don't want at any time. I don't like where I've been and do not want to have to close / restart Firefox (or go through multilayer of choice for 'clear current history') to clear this information.
A way to do this? I use Firefox 8.0.1 on Windows 7 (starter).
Thanks in advance for your ideas.
To disable recently closed tabs, please follow these instructions.
Enter about: config in the address at the top of the Firefox window bar
Scroll down to "Browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo".
Right-click and change to 0 (zero)

How to reopen last closed tab?
Under the menu history in Safari, there is a menu item "Reopen last window closed." A few minutes ago I accidentally closed a tab in a window where the 5 tabs were opened, leaving open four. I discovered, there seems to be no way to reopen the last closed tab. When I chose the menu option "" window closed last to reopen, "accidentally closed tab did not reappear." Rather the last closed window re-opened. He had four tabs (from yesterday), all different from the tabs in the window that was already open. It would be useful to have a way to "Reopen last tab closed.» Is there a way to do this?
If you accidentally close a tab, use the command + Z or undo close tab in the Edit menu. The closed tab should be restored.

It happened some time ago and he returned, I know there's a similar topic, but I want to know how to do this without having to reset firefox, I'm sure there is an option for this all: config, but I need to check first.
You can check the prefs of . browser.sessionstore * including browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash on the topic: config page and reset the browser.sessionstore prefs that are correct (in bold) user via the context menu in the default value to make sure that the Session Restore is enabled and functional.
- https://support.Mozilla.org/KB/restore-previous-session
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder of Firefox that store session data.
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)

Delete sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and groups of tabs open and closed tabs (back) to get lost and you will have to re-create them (take note or bookmarks if possible).

previously closed tabs doesn't open Firefox 35
Until this latest version of firefox 35, I could right-click on a tab, select "Recently closed tabs" and then choose a site I had liquidated.
Now, all I see is a small square in the upper right this option box. When I click on "Recently closed tabs", nothing happens.
What should I do to get the "recently closed tabs" to work?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
- Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
