"Unexpected file Format" Flash save corruption

Hello.

We have recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit of Windows XP here at work, and since the upgrade, I discovered a very scary problem with Flash.

When you go to save one of my major projects, Adobe simply crashes often purely and simply, gel and displaying a standard error message.

"Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "- with an option to"close the program ".

I hit close program, and Flash disappears. If I try and open again the same FLA file, I get the error message

"Unexpected file format".

Unfortunately, it seems since Flash crashes in the middle of the economy, it is corrupting my FLA file. This is extremely worrying because it corrupts my entire source file.

I am lucky that I keep regular backups, otherwise I could have lost months of work instead of just today. In the meantime I copy and paste a new version of the file each time that I open the Flash, but it's a roll of the dice that next time, I have save if he will kill him or not.

Here are my computer details:

OS: Windows 7 - recently improved 32-bit of Windows XP

64-bit Intel Xeon X 5560 @ 2.80 Ghz

4 GB of Ram

The version of Flash CS5 is 11.0.0.485

The FLA in question is 10 MB and contains large map files (gifs), a lot of small JPG as well as much of the code as well as the import of external classes. I tried to reproduce the problem on smaller files and have not been able to do.

I was wondering if it was a case of memory, but Flash seems to use about 450 mbs. About 40% of my total memory is free, according to the performance of the Task Manager.

Any ideas what might solve this problem?

Not an answer but a suggestion for Adobe:

If you could choose a location for the automatic recovery (which is programmed to save the recovery file in the same directory as the original file) + delete delete auto to the correct output of the program.

Even have it set to save in a place like 'my documents' on a local disk, would let you have a copy of your work that is X-minutes old.

  • Adobe Flash CS6: "unexpected file format".

    Hi all

    First of all, my apologies if posted to the wrong forum.

    We have been affected by a problem when users opened their .fla files - they are presented with the error "unexpected file format".

    To my knowledge, the flash CS6 version we have is up-to-date. We have also followed the fix "zip repair" suggested on the many messages of the forum / Web sites but have however failed to recover the file.

    We are currently looking through backups to restore previous versions of files, although the progress made since that version are lost. We use the software for education - and we have a number of students who currently depend on this software for their courses.

    One thing I noticed in an earlier backup is that right after you open the file restored, I am presented with a window of mapping of fonts for fonts that are not installed on my system. I don't know if it has nothing to do with the issue though.

    No official response from Adobe is very appreciated!

    Thank you
    SB

    This isn't an official response.

    your fla is corrupt.

    You can try to fix it (it seems you've tried) and you can sometimes restore work fla to decompile a swf to work (if you have one).

    and you should learn to save frequent backups with different file names.  It is safe to apply a system of versioning of your backups.

    If I have a project named adobe_test_project.fla.  I immediately record adobe_test_project_001.fla.  Subsequently, I increment the 001.

    I have a shortcut keyboard (ctrl-alt-s) and jsfl that automatically executes the jsfl which then saves the fla with the incremented number:

    my "save_as.jsfl":

    var doc = FL.getDocumentDOM ();

    var uri = fl.getDocumentDOM () .pathURI

    {if (!) URI)}

    Alert (' SAVE YOUR FILE. \n\nAn original file save is required to establish your backup directory and the name that will be used to add version numbers.) ») ;

    } else {}

    var a = uri.split ('_v');

    {If (a [a.length - 1] & a [a.length - 1] .length == 7 & {was [a.length - 1].substr(-4) == '.fla'})}

    save them

    var version = findNextVersionNumberF(a[a.length-1]);

    var prefix = [0];

    for (var i = 1; i)<>

    prefix = prefix + "_v" + a [i];

    }

    bool var is fl.saveDocument(doc,prefix+'_v'+version+'.fla');.

    } else {}

    first save

    a = uri.split('.');

    a [a.length - 2] = a [a.length - 2] + "_v000";

    bool = fl.saveDocument (doc, a.join('.'));

    }

    {if(!bool)}

    Alert (' SAVE ERROR.\n\nSave manually (for example, file > save as...)');

    }

    }

    function findNextVersionNumberF (s) {}

    var Version = Number (s.split('.') [0]);

    Return formatF (+ 1 version);

    }

    function formatF (n) {}

    var s = string(n);

    While (s.length<>

    s = '0' + s;

    }

    return s;

    }

  • Unexpected file in Flash Pro 8

    Hello, I downloaded the demo version of Flash Professional 8 for an assignment, and when I try to open the file that the Professor gave us I get an error that says "Unexpected file Format" I tried almost everything to fix the file but nothing works.  I don't know what version of Flash, the file was originally recorded in.  Can anyone help?

    If this file has been saved to a newer version, there is nothing you can otherwise ask your teacher or someone else to save down to you or download a more recent version of pro flash to open your fla.

    PS flash pro 8 is very old.  We are now the flash pro 14.

  • I can't open the FLA files in CS5 "UNEXPECTED FILE FORMAT" help!

    I desperately need help from someone.  For the second time, I can not open 2 FLAs I invested more than 100 hours of design.  I am running CS5 and need to know what can be done?  I'm afraid to do anything with the fear that this will happen, that I had open these files and complete projects.  How is this possible or which can solve the problem.

    I can't believe that ADOBE would release CS5 with as serious a problem.  It's pretty darn close to life and death, these two files constitute a $200 k account.

  • What file format to save as in Illustrator?

    Hey guys,.

    Rather new player to the game Illustrator here so be nice. I designed a simple logo for friend in Illustrator CS5 and I'm confused as to what types of files should I send him to the final design. The intention is to use the logo as a signature at the bottom of the email and some web use possible. The logo will also be sent to print in some cases, but only after my friend brought to scale it, what type of file will allow you to my friend across the logo without losing printing quality?

    Thanks in advance.

    For the web, send PNG. If your friend knows how to use it, you can also try SVG.

    To print send some vector, as format I, PDF or EPS (lowest common denominator). Favorite PDF. But you must make sure that your friend is using an application that maintains the vector as a vector and does not rasterize it.

  • Change the file format of digital copy Disney

    I downloaded a copy of the digital file of the movie Wall-E Disney to my computer some time ago. I had to choose a file format to save the portable version. As it was before I evenhad such a portable device, I selected just Windows Media Player. Some time later, I had an iPhone, I realized that I would need the version of iTunes to look on. Because the activation code runs once, is it possible to legally convert the portable digital copy Windows Media Player to an iTunes one?

    Sincerely, Danny

    Hello DanMat6288,

    There is no way to convert the format of file legally. That is, you can contact the seller who gave you the ability to download the movie in a different format. However, there are several third-party applications that give you an option to convert the file format. You can use your favorite search engine to search for applications.

  • Objects vector smart object - file format

    What is the best file format to save a photoshop file that has a number of vector smart objects that will eventually print? File can be placed in illustrator or indesign prior to be expelled to the printer either as direct files or on the PDF.

    Danny is correct: smart objects are STILL pixelated in resolution of the PSD, regardless of the format that you save it in.

    If you want to print any dynamic objects with imported objects vector (illustrator?) to setter image max resolution, you must extract these objects in the PSD file and rebuild the design in Illustrator or InDesign.

    It means that the smart object in question, which opens in Illustrator, and then save the file as a file HAVE editing. Remove the smart object in the PSD in Photoshop, then save a new version. Note the exact dimensions and positions. Open the file in InDesign and rebuild the original.

    If the layer effects have been applied in Photoshop to a matter SO vector: no chance. You will need to generate layers separated in the best of cases, or begin to recreate the effects in Illustrator in the worst case scenario. Or a combination of both.

    Vector shapes and the Type that were generated in Photoshop with effects applied to him may be problematic if the resolution of the PSD is insufficient. However, the outline remains vector while recording in Photoshop PDF format. Import the PDF into InDesign retains the sharp vector contour. Just make sure that the native resolution of the Photoshop document is high enough to produce a strong impression for effects (which will be pixels).

    The problem is that a lot of designers decided to convert their photoshop vector shapes and text in smart objects - and this will rasterize the result, no matter what. And there is no easy way to "unsmart" a dynamic object.

    A method (far from perfect) is:

    • Double-click the smart object to open it in a new window
    • Select all the layers in the .psb (dynamic object) that opens
    • Choose Layer > Group the menu
    • Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the window of smart objects to your original document with the move tool window.
    • Drag the icon fx the dynamic object for the new group of layers layer you just drag over
    • Remove the smart object layer.

    The only caveats to this method are scale and positioning. You may have to reposition some groups according to their interaction with the edges of the original document. And if you scale the smart object layer, you may need to scale of the group as well.

    Here is a script that automates some of this: http://blog.kam88.com/en/expanding-smart-objects-script.html

    This will ONLY work with SOs that were created in Photoshop.

    Dynamic objects are bothersome creatures indeed. Much too easy for designers unknowing to destroy the intent of vectors and difficult and potentially very tedious to undo in a news environment.

    The problem is that a lot of users tend to abuse of Photoshop as a request to print 'all-in-one' layout

    All my adobe files are corrupt. I saved them on my computer, my external hard drive and flash players. All report them at the same time as all my PSD files and I are corrupt.

    My computer recently had an error with the System 32 and will not open if I reformat, which means I lose everything on it. No problem, because I supported straight? It turns out that all my backups say they are corrupt. Do I just terrible luck, or is there a reason why none of my files works when I try to open them on another computer?

    Try the bugcheck on the ext hdd. Right click on the drive in 'my computer' > 'properties' > 'Tools' > click 'check now '.

    You can restart your pc and reconnect the ext hdd.

  • What file format should I save in preserving the color profile?

    I need to save an image or a layer as a file, preserving the color profile, what can I import in acrobat (probably, or maybe even re - import into Photoshop) so I can create a PDF of it x 1 has 2001 in PDF version. Since Photoshop be cannot do directly, what file format, if necessary, to achieve this? Thank you.

    I wonder if it is a bug in CS5 as it seams to work properly in CC. Or photoshop needs to be reinstalled (if a file is missing to use pdf export)

    I thought about everything which is why I recommended tiff pdf was not working.

    You are able to print to PDF? If I remember that the profile is not included in this way, but was curious to know if it worked or not.

    Your problem is typical of the CS6 recording overflows when CS5 plugins are loaded. Some plug-ins CS5 can be OK, but looks like you have one that is a problem.

    Close the CS6, move that the old plugin of your CS6 folders, launch Photoshop, try to save. Who help me?
