Unexplained icon on 8220 blackBerry Smartphones

Correction - the number 1 is next to the blue box and inside it is an arrow or plus sign, I can't say that.

Lise

Hello-

An icon appeared on my BB8220 that I can't find in textbooks. It is a small blue box with the number 1 beside both inside her and a red sign in the upper right corner.

Thanks for the help:

Lise

It isn't a name, it's just the icon. But, in searching the phone trying to solve the problem, I realized that it was from Facebook. I thought it was an arrow was acually a lower-case F, and it indicates an update or whatever.

Not easy to find good.

Thanks for trying to help!

    Hello

What was going on just before that this behavior started? A new application? An update? Something else? Think carefully, because the smallest thing could be causal... and cancel whatever it was to see if that clears the problem.

Otherwise, it is likely that something has corrupted your OS BB, and a clean reload is necessary.

At the top of each forum device, there should be some 'sticky' threads dealing with the level of the OS available for each model. Please use those as a reference as you go along.

From a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. You can even use a different OS package carriers simply insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, a file named PROVIDER. XML. remember that you remove from your PC, no matter what other packages devices OS BB as having more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

  • Deploy an icon on the BlackBerry smartphone to a web application or URL

    Hello

I want to deploy an icon on the BlackBerry for a web application is home.  When the user click on this icon, I automatically want to launch my web app (URL).

    I found this article:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800708/800655/How_To _...

And I read about 'push channel browser', which seems to do exactly what I want to do:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/7979/1181821/832210/Developi...

I did a test with my Blackberry that is connected to a BES, and it works very well using the code example.

My question is this, 'channel browser push' can be used for Blackberry that is not configured in our BES.

For example, I want to be able to deploy an icon on the Blackberry from customers and suppliers we have, but these Blackberries are not related at all our BES or network.

Is it possible to do this?  If so, should I do something special to make it work?

If not, does that mean my only solution is to create a Java application that automatically launch the browser Blackberry (second option from the first link)?

    Thanks for your help!

Channel browser push you make reference to requires the user is on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The alternatives to this is a Java application (as you have discovered), BlackBerry Widget or Signal of Web.  Web signals is the equivalent to a BlackBerry Internet Server Browser channel thrust.

BlackBerry Widget SDK (applications requires a BlackBerry 5.0 device software)

  • Icon to download blackBerry Smartphones won't go away

I have the new Tower model and I have a small icon to download (fill a white, black circle with a white arrow pointing down and to the left and a red star) with a number 1 next to it showing at the top of my home screen.  I checked all my apps and files and I have nothing waiting for download.  I restarted thinking that something I had installed was waiting to restart computer download something else.   I have nothing seems to get this to go away.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Welcome to the csides forums

In my view, that this icon is for blackberry app world. This means that one of the applications that you downloaded previously has an available update/upgrade. I can't confirm this because I do not use app world, but what I read earlier. Someone confirm it soon enough, I'm sure.

  • BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 BlackBerry Smartphones

    Hello

Just got a BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, entered all my contacts, but when I try to use them in the contact phone adds book additional staff before the number, for example 861 can someone explain please?  The use of the United Kingdom on a Virgin sim card phone.

    Thank you very much

Press the phone button (often green but he is the one on the left) to take you to the phone application.  Press the menu key (the BB Logo key) and go to Options.  Search smart dialing options.  Change this in the right country.

  • Icon text of blackBerry Smartphones went

I have no idea why, but the text icon went from my BB Torch and I can't find how to get it back. Can anyone help please?

Start by seeing if you have accidentally hidden there.  While on your home screen, press the menu key and select Show all or show all, that one is available.  If your icon is hidden, this will expose it.

If that isn't revealing his comings and goings, you can reinstall using BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Connect your phone to your PC and open the COMICS.  Once your phone has been recognized, click Applications on the left.  (I do not know if this method does not work, it's been long that I used in the COMICS.  If no, proceed to my next suggestion below.)  Once in the application, search for your text message entry.  If it contains an "X" beside it, click to change to a checkbox.  If you are unable to do this, you will need to reload your operating system.

To reload your operating system, open COMICS as described previously, and then click device at the top of the software, then click on restore.  Choose the most recent restore point and the load on your phone.

Let us know if that helps you.

  • BlackBerry 8220 Blackberry Smartphones help please!

I have a new Blackberry 8220 its open from TMobile and it just turns off by itself.

There the BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.278 (Indosat) and before I installed it I deleted the file 'net_rim_tmo_five.cod '. (This is the one I have now, already tried like 4 or 5)

The thing is that, with NO SIM it never restarts, and with the SIM card IT will just crazy.

I tested for more than 5 hours now with no sim card and its balance, with SIM in there just turns off very randomly.

When it stops, no matter what, I have to remove the battery and put it back again, the Red led lights (Just comes on, not flashing), it starts to boot and then when comes to the white screen, it shuts down again unless I connect it to the charger. Sometimes it starts normally, but then again it stops when you use the phone.

I read a lot already about this and tried a lot of things, I don't really know if it's a defective battery or if its hardware. May not be the operating system, many tried and wiped out everything after 3 or 4 guides.

Can someone help me out here?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that, sometimes, not always, it stops even pluged in charger.

If you have tried with all operating systems, it is pretty obvious that it isn't a problem with OS. My guess is that there is a problem of radio which is the cause. It is probably a hardware problem and probably not much you can do about it.

My SMS icon and my Office e-mail icon show my emails from gmail account.

  • Icons color of blackBerry Smartphones...

How to get to home page only my msn color icon?... What about other icons?

I think that my BBM used to have the color, but it is no more...

    Help...

The Blackberry 8900, some of the icons are gray in itself.

As you can see on the screenshot: http://picasaweb.google.ru/tbilisoft/BlackberryForum#5284908858065082418

Some icons are in color, but some of them are gray. They were designed as they appear. There's no error on your device or a set of bad option.

  • Icon text of blackBerry Smartphones is missing!

Somehow, I deleted the text icon.  Can someone help me get back on my screen?  I can still text, but it's a pain because I need to go through the database of contacts.

First of all, while you are on your home screen press the menu button and see all is an option.  You maybe just hid the icon and pressing it will display it.

If this isn't the case, reload your OS.  To do this, connect your phone to your PC via USB and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  If you have not installed on your computer, type www.blackberry.com/desktop in the browser on your PC.  Once you have your phone on and the software has recognized, click device at the top of the software and the restoration in the drop-down list.  Choose the most recent restore point and proceed.  This will put the SMS icon on your home screen.

Let us know if that helps you.

  • Off the Blues several icons and their blackBerry smartphones lines menu has disappeared

Hi, Just turned 8310 to 8900 and it was working fine until today. In all the themes icons and the menu lines of profiles & Messenger of BB simply disappeared. I can't change my profile more. They are always in the file (8 profiles) when I click on the file option in the Desktop Manager, but I can't access my BB.

I downloaded a theme from Bplay.com and it worked fine until today. But even if my BB to the original themes makes no difference, line icon and menu for the BB Messenger and profiles yet not invented it.

I also tried the HRT and battery pull thing suggested in the forum, but also without result...

I let myself really confused here... I am using Vodafone and Europe as my provider. I am currently in the United States and using AT & T and T-Mobile for roaming...

Hope that everyone out there can give me a hint to begin to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Bert

To be honest, I was a little afraid to make a top-up of comprehensive software, since I had done this on other BB in the past and really got me into a disaster more than in the first place...

So I thought that maybe it's easier first try to reset to factory settings and then see what out...

So, I managed to solve the problem like this:

First I saved everything to my laptop using the BB Desktop backup manager 4.6

Then I reset my BB to the factory settings via security... options/options/general settings pressing the BB button on the left of the trackball and choose the option 'clear the Handheld' and giving the password to 'blackberry '.

Once it has been reset all icons where there still.

Then I placed the backup I made of the laptop to BB, including settings etc and everything worked again. With the exception of my BB Messenger contacts, they where unfortunately gone. But having few contacts I could easily put right again.

    Problem solved...

Hope this will help someone with the same problem...

BlackBerry technical support at $ 49 per case. The best way to contact them is to call your operator and if/when they are unable to solve your problem, they transfer you to support BB and pay the Bill.
