    Hello

Yes, Windows 7 firewall is an internal function that would be always available even if McAfee would be uninstalled.
You can also enable or disable the firewall from Win 7 following way:

    1. open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking Security, and then click Windows Firewall.

    2. click on turn on or off Windows Firewall.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on (recommended) and then click OK.

  • Impossible to completely uninstall McAfee program

Bought 3 McAfee license.  2 programs installed on the desktop and laptop.  Third license installed on the Dell laptop, but some itms has not installed correctly.  You need to reinstall but same problem. Computer laptop but of course purchased pre-installed trial version has replaced it and was left without security. Checked the account McAfee online and showed all 3 licenses in use.  Downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials for protection or safe, but not able to completely uninstall McAfee.  Program will appear in Add/Remove Programs area OK but when click on delete, just an empty box appears.  Happy enough to leave but worried it will conflict with the current Microsoft security.  How can I uninstall completely all the associated files of McAfee? Have reviewed the mcafee programs and folders on the program area but worried if I delete the related programs.  Any advice?

  • Uninstalled McAfee, now the computer does not start - crashes at MUP. SYS

Hi new to the forums here - I'm pretty desperate at this point - here's the game:

    I guess that the problem lies with the uninstall - never had any problems before and did a reinstall of fees<1 year="" ago. ="" computer="" is="" only="" used="" as="" htpc="" and="" occasional="" web="">

McAfee, asked me to reboot after uninstall so I agreed.  I assumed that I would run the McAfee removal tool once the computer has been restarted, but now my computer freezes right on a black screen after the initial startup.  When I boot in safe mode, the computer hangs on the last file MUP. SYS.  I have left on all night, still will not get past the MUP. SYS

I have run chkdsk and found 0 errors.  I also followed the indications of MS here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 does not.  I used Hiren boot and back up my data.

Running XP MCE 2005 cumulative 2 - SP3.  The computer is a Sony Vaio - so I did not have a full XP disk, only the recovery discs (thanks to strip sony!).  I downloaded a copy of the recovery console which I can boot to.  Is there a way I can run the MCPR.exe since the recovery console?  What else could be the cause? Thank you very much!

PS I also unplugged all devices except for my keyboard and mouse.

Unfortunately I do not know which files to delete McAfee.  I guess there could be hundreds of them.

I sincerely apologize for bad reading you post. The problem was more than likely caused by the process of uninstalling McAfee. Hang up on MUP. SYS actually has nothing to do with the Ministry of the INTERIOR. SYS file. It is simply the last file loaded by windows when an attempt to start in safe mode has been selected. There are a number of issues that can cause this error. As I said above, in your case, it was likely to McAfee.

Follow the instructions below carefully to perform a restore of the system using Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (MSDaRT). You will need a computer to work with a working cd rom and a dvd/CD blank.

Download and install ISO Recorder version for the operating system of the non-working computer to work.

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Download and install the Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Tool to the work computer from the link below, choose the default installation during Setup.

    http://www.Softpedia.com/progDownload/Diagnostics-and-recovery-toolset-download-100885.html

CD blank insert in your cd/dvd burner. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset and right click erd50.iso, select and then copy the image to a CD . Follow the instructions in this link to complete the creation of the bootable cd.

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/HOWTO.htm

Once completed, restart the PC with the cd in the drive and start over the cd to verify that it works correctly. If successful in the computer non-Boot.

Boot with the cd and when prompted, connect to the operating system (should show C:\windows).

Once connected, click Start > system tools > system restore
The interface of the system restore opens where you can choose to restore the system to an earlier time.

Select the restore point, follow the guests and restart when prompted, remove the cd during the reboot.

  • Completely uninstall McAfee

My computer came installed with McAfee and now it asks to be reinstalled, but it will not reinstall if I was about to delete it, but the privacy service will not erase and I keep getting pop ups saying to reinstall McAfee. It uninstalls everything except the privacy service. I wonder if anyone has the solution to my problem. I want to reinstall AVG, but I'm not sure if the McAfee Privacy Service can damage my computer or not, because there are two types of protection anti-virus on my computer. • The difficulty to uninstall mcafee...

    Evening,

First time I did this... I'm trying to uninstall Mcafee so that I can have Windows defender. I read the markets here, which are excellent... But whenever I try to uninstall Mcafee, it won't let me. Said mcafee agent uses certain products. If anyone knows what I can do at this point? I have Windows Vista... Should I bother with uninstalling mcafee? I loaded the essential protection of microsoft and I read that you don't need both...

    Help!

    Forget about using Windows Defender:

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and it automatically disables the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

    If it's not:

Turn Windows Defender on or off the information on the link above of Microsoft.

  • Vista Sidebar and Media Player stopped working after uninstalling Mcafee and AVG installation

Hi, I'm new to the Dell Forums, my apologies if this isn't the right place to post this.

Yesterday, I decided to remove Mcafee completely from my Inspiron 6400 (running Vista Ultimate) and install the free version of AVG. First, I downloaded the http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=1033 and AVG Mcafee removal tool and was save on my desktop. I unplugged my internet connection, uninstalled Mcafee Security Center of programs & features (recommended by Mcafee), rebooted, then ran Mcafee Removal Tool Development. EXE, rebooted, installed the free version of AVG, went online and installed the AVG updates, performed a full scan with no errors. The system seems to work well, but then I noticed that the clock on Windows Sidebar gadget turned black, the deleted with only a yellow box calendar gadget. I tried to open Media Player, no luck because he would not just open. Tried to launch Media Player as an admin, no luck. While my connection is an admin one. There is another connection admin account so connected to this account, but you have the same problem. I did a system restore and also tried to create new accounts, but the same thing happens with the Gadgets and Media Player. I also ran startup repair by using the Vista DVD, no luck.

Did somebody encountered this problem? There is an almost similar post under Vista (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=41524&query.id=225388#M41524), but no solution. I had a feeling this uninstallation of Mcafee or running the Development. EXE may have messed up with the registry keys for the sidebar and Media Player. I also downloaded another gadget clock, no luck. Y at - it a fix for this? I don't want to install Mcafee again, as I had many problems with MCProxy and Spamkiller causing system crash and Mcafee has no solution so far. I also have spybot running on the system.

I would appreciate if someone could help me with this. Thank you
