Uninstall of XP SP3

I have a new PC with Windows 7, but have an old computer with Windows XP I have a CADD program that does not work on Windows 7. I installed SP3 a while ago and you have not used the program CADD since. I used it the other day, when I went to print it would not work correctly so contacted the company that pulishes the program CADD and after explaining the problem they said the problem was caused by the SP3 and I uninstall it first.

I went to control panel - Add Remove programs and I tried to uninstall it. He went through the first four of the five steps very well, but when he got to the execution of processes before uninstall it came with a message indicating that the system cannot find the specified file, but did not specify the file. Then he said that Service Pack 3 has not been uninstalled.

I followed method 1 and 2 instructions on the following link, but none of them worked and both gave the same results as above (which was not surprising).

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950249

I'm worried by method 3 I installed a good amount of software since the installation of SP3.

I have not tried the method 4 that I didn't not a Windows XP installation disk, only a recovery disc supplied with the computer.

I would like to know if there is anything else I can try before restoring to a point of previous restoration or any other method that can avoid having to reinstall a lot of software.

Thank you

It depends on if you want to spend the money to upgrade.

If you prefer not to do, your best bet is to find a cheap used PC with Windows XP SP2 (I'm sure you can find a good one for $125 or more). You should be able to use it for your old CADD program (and always make sure that it is NOT connected to the Internet).
You'd be crazy to run the program CADD on your current PC if it is connected to the Internet (assuming that you can work your way back to SP2 successfully)!

  • Uninstall SP3

I need to uninstall SP 3 to recharge an old program from the printer, then I can reinstall it.
I NortonInternetSsecurity 2010 and do not know how or if that I first have to disable it.  I just upgraded to it.
Also if I am able to remove SP3 with Add/Remove Programs, and I go to the updates page, SP3 will offer an update?  I would like to make updates as much as I can to SP2 before you install the printer, but do not know what I will find.
    I don't know if I should push IE8, IE7 or even how it's done.
Then I install SP3 after the printer works.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Where to start?

If the original installation of SP3 'broken' the scan function, what makes you think the same thing will not happen when you reinstall SP3?

You would certainly not want to uninstall (or reinstall) SP3 without having disabled first all NIS components then activation of Windows Firewall.

As far as I KNOW, NIS 2010 is not supported in WinXP SP2 or an earlier version if you uninstall SP3, you will not have a functional antivirus application, an anti-spyware application or third-party firewall.

If you have installed IE7 or IE8 after that you originally installed SP3, uninstall the latter could cause untold problems... but too bad, since you have no real-time protection be?

This Dell above has yet told you that the printer is not supported in WinXP SP3 and/or y at - it one (or more) updates driver for the printer that you have failed to install and which could solve the problem of scan function? Consult the Dell downloads page.

    Hi Ken,

Everything seems in order, with the exception of not to mention or not, that you have installed the Package from Microsoft Windows Update for the age (AMD) Pr no intelof ocessors before installing Windows XP SP3.

You can download an install it from this link.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-ie/download/details.aspx?ID=23751

You may need to uninstall Windows XP SP3 and IE8 before installing the package and I forget it is because you do not want a scenario where IE8 stays on your system when you reinstall SP3 of XP. You want to install IE8 after installing SP3, you can uninstall it later if necessary.

Note: If you are not currently having problems it is not necessary (to install the update package).

  • I had 26 successful updates for SQL Server 2005 SP3 KB970892, but I keep getting a yellow icon who invites me to install it. I uninstalled and reinstalled. I still get the prompt to install the update.

I have Dell Dimension 8100 with Windows XP Home Edition that has Visual Studio 2005 Express installed that has SQL Server 2005 with her. I had a problem with Windows Update and will prompt to install SQL Server 2005 SP3 KB970892 since October 14,2009. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything first and always kept getting the prompt, then I tried another solution that I got from a forum of symantec. I uninstalled the update again, and then I went into the registry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Resume REG_DWORD and changed the value decimal from 1 to 0, installed the update and restarted the machine. It worked for the person who posted, but this has not worked for me. I waited a while hoping that Microsoft will come out with a fix for the next monthly update that has not yet happened. If anyone has a solution, please send an email to .
