Uninstalling Adobe Reader 9.3.4 for Windows Xp Software

I am trying to remove Adobe Reader 9.3.4 my laptop and all I get is the following "Add or remove programs Windows" error this patch package / could not be opened. "Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a Windows Installer valid Patch Package" it will not uninstall

If you have the package installer, reinstall it, and you should then be able to uninstall.

Otherwise, see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/727601?tstart=0.

  • Cannot update or uninstall Adobe Reader 9 on Windows 7

I get a message to update Adobe Reader, but when I try I get a message:

«Update to uninstall adobe could not open not hkey-local-machinesoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrent\\\ version\run\optionalcomponants\imail»

I also tried to uninstall through Control Panel. Watch it uninstall with a progress bar, then the same error message at the top, and the progress bar goes in the opposite direction until eventually there is no uninstalling Adobe Reader.

Is there another way to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader? Are there instructions available somewhere to uninstall Adobe Reader manually include the registry keys that you want to uninstall Adobe Reader 9? I've seen instructions step by step for older versions, but I don't know if those would be the same for later versions such as Adobe Reader 9.

    You can try the following.

Remove all traces of drive (and not only the program) of your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. It is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can always download it from places like

    http://MajorGeeks.com/download.php?Det=4459

Then download the installer of the reader of

    http://get.Adobe.com/reader/Enterprise/

    and perform a clean installation.

How can I fix above question - what do I need to uninstall Adobe Reader?

But if I do that I will never be able to recover/fix previous PDF (now replaced by Word)?

T - Firefox or other parameters affect Adobe - If yes what should I do?

    Hi susans76239434,

As all your PDF documents are now appear as a word file, please right-click on any PDF file icon and choose ' open with... > choose default program > Adobe Acrobat XI "and click OK.

This will open the PDF with Acrobat files only and not Word.

Then, you can try to convert PDF into word via Adobe Reader.

Let me know how it goes.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. I can not reinstall adobe reader directly (without deleting the old one, even if it is incomplete) because the installation block current, of the view that this program is already on my computer, even if it does not!

I've been on labs.adobe.com and tried the adobe acrocleaner cleaning program, this does not work either.

    Thank you for your help.

Sophie never came back, so we do not know if it has ever solved its problem, but it worked for most people. You can try to use this tool first remove all traces of your computer:

    http://labs.Adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Then you can download the full Setup offline reader for the version you want from

    http://get.Adobe.com/reader/Enterprise/

After downloading, restart your computer and run the Setup program before anything else.

the latest version of Flash Player, 11,2,202,228, were announced last week.  It would make 11,1,102,62 version two behind.  Would you mind upgrade to the latest version of the player?  There are a few crash fixes in our last offer.  You can go here to update: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • How to uninstall adobe reader software?  Request a free 30-day trial and screen appears with bundles of optional fees

Cannot uninstall or get the free option of 30 days.  Keep getting requests from CNET Download.  Is this related to adobe reader.

Sorry for the confusion. There are two products.

    Adobe Acrobat DC (paid)

    Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (free)

You say that you have downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for free. It's good but there is no trial for this since it's free. Adobe Acrobat DC has a trial. You don't want that one.

Then, you have Acrobat Reader DC and it works correctly?

If you don't have it get on the Adobe site (Adobe Acrobat Reader DC install for all versions) so you want to delete what you have installed and get from Adobe.

  • Impossible to uninstall Adobe Reader 8.1.5

I want to remove Adobe Reader 8.1.5 for my computer and install a new version. But I can't remove the Reader8.1.5 using the function "Add or remove a program", in fact there is no "Delete" button shown next to this software.

I click on the Reader 8.1.5 icon in the start menu > all programs > Adobe Reader 8, there is a window that showed the following sentence:

"This patch package could not be opened. "Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that is is a valid Windows Installer patch package.

    How to remove Reader8.1.5?

Don't know if this works with Reader 8, but there is no harm in trying to use this tool:
