  My current tests show that once you have something stored in PersistentStore, uninstall / upgrade will require restarting the device. Can someone please confirm this or explain what is wrong with my test script (code to follow)?

  Your application being started has nothing to do with the fact that there is a direct reference from your application to the persistent store. At the start of the system, the operating system made a lot of analysis of existing modules, whether or not they are reported to run at startup. (This analysis also makes it possible for the system automatically removes the persistent, custom objects that have been orphaned by an application being uninstalled.)

  As Simon posted, is not having an object persistent, but having a custom persistent object that forces a restart. Try your experience using a hash instead of a ConfigObject table.

  Note that the downside of using a generic object as the Hashtable class is that the persistent data of your application will not disappear when your application is removed.

  I restarted the ESXI using classic Vsphere Client. Now, all virtual machines have disappeared. I tried to connect with Vsphere Client and workstation and the list is empty. I can't access the Vcenter server since it is a virtual machine that resides in the home.

  The data store is a local disk. The data store is still there and the amount of disk space used is correct. I don't see the virtual machines in the inventory. I have re-installed ESXI 5.5, refreshed of store data and what not, there is nothing there. I am freaking out and don't know what to do.

  EDIT: I am able to navigate the data store manually by creating the new virtual machine and select the existing virtual machine following this guide but I'm not sure what is the reason for which the files would be missing or corrupt

  If you see the virtual computer files, you can open the folder, right click on the .vmx file and select Add to the inventory. who will get your VM in the inventory.

• VSAN disks required for Instalation of the host

  I have 2 questions on VSAN

  (1) controller HP smart array is not needed that storage is VSAN handles.

  (2) the selected material can accommodate 5-disc, so if we use a disc to install ESXi5.5, can we use the remaining disk to can be used for VSAN somehow, or we have to live with for VSAN 4 drives in my case.

  you will need to have a disk controller that supports passthrough to a minimum and one from the HCL VSAN. Judging by the HCL VSAN you need a controller to purchase anyway.
