Unknown user accounts - what are they

I click on 'My Computer' and 'Advanced' 'User profile', then 'Settings' to list the user accounts.

I have 4 valid accounts, SMA 1 and 3 user accounts valid.

I have 3 "account unknown 855 mb local Backup 6 /...» »

I have 1 "account unknown 50.7 mb Local Local 7 /...» »

Question:

No idea what they are?

I lost two "limited account" and have them reset until two weeks ago.  The 3 accounts "backup" all have the same MB among my replacement "limited account" 855 mb.

The last one looks like my other lost limited account and put in new place.

I got a problem with Windows Easy Transfer, saying 'Administrator' running in a temporary profile and will not allow to run my backup.  I dangled for more help.

A few others have the same problem

Jerry

delete them all and it worked

    Hello

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

Please confirm where you can see this unknown user account?

    Where is it ask permission?

What is the exact message you get?

A user account is a collection of information that tells Windows the files and folders you can access, what changes you can make to your computer, and your personal preferences, such as your desktop background or screen saver. User accounts let you share a computer with several people while having your own files and settings. Each person accesses his user account with a user name and password.

I am only a very lightweight browser and the user of the social network. I do not use my PC for something else.

It is average for a system Windows does not.

Windows is broken down into different components so they can be executed in parallel to improve performance.

Their closure will cause your computer to malfunction and eventually fails.

Run process Explorer to give you a description of each process and information on the services that are running in each svchost process.

  • unknown user account - S-1-5-21-98 preventing access to the images on an external hard drive

original title: account unknown user - S-1-5-21-98... PREVENTING ME ACCESS to MY PHOTOS on external hard drive

Im having problems accessing copy, editing and viewing my photos on my drive external hard .it says I don't have permissions to access the file .and the file belongs to an unknown user account. How can I have access to these files?

I think that this resulted that I changed my operating system from windows home basic/vista (not sure what operating system) Windows 7 ultimate.

Please help me, its been two years im trying to solve this problem.

Here is the link to additional photos showing all the problems

IM using HP530, 2g of RAM, windows 7 ultimate, 32 bit

the external hard drive is a samsung HD103SI, 1 TB model

I saw the pictures and found that you had to the security of the folder/file. From there, change the owner of your current account. The account unknown S-1-5-21-98... user id internal to the user account that created the file and so you have the permission of that user, which is impossible because even if you create a user account with the same name, the user id cannot be the same.

Also, as mentioned in one of the boxes of dialogue, appropriating the folder/file and then delete the unknown user account.

Try the above, if the file/folder is not encrypted/protected.

  • Unknown user account

We had problems with our computer, and I was on the phone with Microsoft for 2 hours on 04/06/2013.  She said that if someone had a "password" protect her not access to resolve this type of problem and if I continued to have problems that his supervisor will have to solve the problem.  I saw a user account pop up from time to time and have no idea why or how is added.  The user name was "Unknown account" when I started typing and is now "S-1-5-21-1707336200-2697870300-4147613902-1001" with "special permission".

When I tried to copy and paste, this is what has been copied.

    \\localhost\C$\@GMT-2013.06.23-11.47.18\Users\Gar-n-Deb

This all started because even if I was not at home, my husband got a phone call from someone who told him that they were Microsoft and was concerned about the volume of activity, they have seen and could solve the problem, if it was allowed access to the computer and buy software.  He said this looks suspicious and the guy said, I ask only to help you.  Thus, he had access.  The guy had problems with getting their approval on the credit card, but he had already acceded to our computer.  When I got there, I heard my husband say: "well, my wife is home now and I told him look and he hung-up.  We have our phone CASE which is our local supplier and had lost the connection cable, our desktop icons were hidden and I have no idea what else has happened.  Even if one of the owners I have used to work to help me with IT, I'm not at all a computer scientist.  So I called Microsoft and was informed I thought, that Microsoft does not call.

After my time 2 call with Microsoft, I was monitoring our computer and attempts to change what I thought others prevents access to our computer.  I first noticed that the security of all the icons changed.  I deleted all the icons and then added them back.  After noticing changes more, I then removed remote access.  I don't know how I saw it, but I discovered there where there are 3 home groups.   Now this morning, each file was consulted and specified above user has special permission for everything.

Maybe I just need to call Microsoft again, but I wanted to at least get this documented.  Please notify.

When you give full access by a total stranger on your PC your husband fell for a popular scam. The scammer could easily have installed keystroke logging software. If it was my machine then I would perform a destructive factory restore, if it isn't because I have no desire for an outsider to look over my shoulder when I do my stuff from Internet banking or order via the Internet.

Make a standard user account.  That's all.  If they are not administrators - they are limited about changing their profile.  They can even install some things that install on their profile only-, but no systemic change.

Or they can use the guest account - which is a bit more limited.

  • new and unknown user account - pirate being?

I have a MacBook Pro, on which I recently installed OS X El Capitan. A few minutes ago I had to force a shutdown down because my MacBook does not have answered what anyone more. When I restarted, I saw a new user account, that I have ever created. My macbook has been hacked? How can I remove such account unknown? I am concerned that at some point, it asked me to put my password to iCloud and other Apple ID - which I did not. Help would be very appreciated be! Thanks in advance

Unlikely, it was hacked. Go to System Preferences > users and groups, and delete the new account. Then please download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information.

  • Unknown user account has taken control of many documents and media files. How to remove this user.

We created an unknown accout on my laptop Windows 7 did it probably a malware or some kind of virus. This unknown account took all permissions including the special permission. In this way, he blocked my access to a lot of my documents and multimedia files. This unknown account does not appear in the list of user accounts. Thus, it cannot be deleted or modified/restricted. I tried to detect this virus/malware microsoft security essentials and MacAfee antivirus programs. The two could not detect something. Any help?-ERC

    Hi CED,.

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to know that you are facing a problem of unknown account. It would be useful that you can answer these questions to help you further.

    1. How do you know that it is an unknown account? You receive messages or error codes?

    2. where are the documents and multimedia files stored?

    3. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

If you are referring to an unknown account with a SID string, then try these steps and check if it helps.

    a. go to the folderwhere you saw this string SID.

    b. right-click and select Properties. Click the Security tab.

    c. If it is there, then click on the Edit button, then click the Remove button.

If you are told that you cannot delete this account because it is to be inherited, and then close the dialog boxes and set up a folder in the tree and repeat the procedure. Keep this up until you can remove the ""unknown account " SID in the permissions dialog box."

You can also check the suggestions provided by Marilyn O, moderator of the Forum on July 9, 2012 and check if it helps.

How to remove an unknown account on the Security tab in windows 7?

Important: The above link contains steps to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

I hope this helps to solve the problem.

Generally, no. They are necessary for the programs and programs don't
work without them. But there may be a few exceptions with DLL files
which are no longer used. If you try to delete everything, be extremely
careful and delete are not only those that you are absolutely sure

And I'm sorry to say - I don't want to be insulting - but if
You must ask yourself what is a DLL file, you should not mess around with
