unlock-delete-create guides on master pages

IM from problems with the code below. I inherited the designer previous documents would unlock, delete, and create margins for master pages. I am not an expert but know a little more.

say application «Adobe InDesign CS4»

Activate

the value myDocument to document 1

tell Discover the preferences of the active document

-Set the units of horizontal and vertical measurement to inches.

set origin of the ruler origin of the page

set horizontal measurement units to inches

set vertical measurement units to inches

end say

-change the master spread margins

set myMasterSpread to master spread 1 of myDocument

tell preferences of page margin 1 of myMasterSpread

-page margins and columns.

the value left to «. 5' -outside in

the value back to top to ".5 in.

the value right to ".75 in" -inside

the value bottom to ".75 in.

end say

-Page margins right master page

tell preferences of page margin 2 of myMasterSpread

the value left to «. 5' -inside

the value back to top to ".5 in.

the value right to ".75 in" -outside in

the value bottom to ".5 in.

end say

--create landmarks on master 1 & 2 pages

-* currently does not

set myMasterSpread to master spread 1 of myDocument

tell Guide preferences of page 1 of myMasterSpread

set guides locked to false

set Ruler guides of orange color

-tell page 1 of myDocument

delete guides

do guide with property {:orientationPortrait location: "."} 25 »}

do guide with property {:orientationPortrait location: "7.6875"}

do guide with property {:orientationhorizontal location: "."} 25 »}

do guide with property {:orientationhorizontal location: "10.25"}

-end tell

say Preferences guide of page 2 of myMasterSpread

delete guides

do guide with property {:orientationPortrait location: "."} 25 »}

do guide with property {:orientationPortrait location: "7.6875"}

do guide with property {:orientationhorizontal location: "."} 25 »}

do guide with property {:orientationhorizontal location: "10.25"}

end say

end say

end say

Guide preferences are set at the level of the document, not to pages or spreads. You can set the page rather than the page guide preferences, make guides. Try this:

tell myDocument guide preferences

Set guides locked to false

rule game guides Orange

tell the end

tell page 1 of myMasterSpread

remove guides

make guide with properties {orientation: vertical, location: ".25"}

make guide with properties {orientation: vertical, location: "7.6875"}

make guide with properties {orientation: horizontal, location: ".25"}

make guide with properties {orientation: horizontal, location: "10.25"}

tell the end

Lather, rinse, repeat for page 2 of the master that spread. BTW, you can remove the line 'set myMasterSpread' under '-* doesn't work is not currently "line. You who already paid to the top of the script.

Hope that works for you.

  • Is it mandatory to create/use the master page or its up to me (developer)?

    Hello

    I develop a form (non-interactive), where in I'm placing a lot of tables (with the approach of the subforms), and these tables is dynamic, I mean, the tables are feeding an backend ERP SAP, where of lines are dynamic (but number of columns are fixed)

    That is why I want to put FLOWED subforms, pages, bcz I have tables on the 1st page 2nd page.

    BCZ I want to mY_cmpany_logo on each and every single page, in any case only 2 pages

    Pls suggest me in this case (above said scenario), is a mandatory rule to create / use a master page

    Thank you

    XFA forms (static or dynamic) always have at least one master page, because it contains the content (s).

    Master pages are used as "wallpapers", as they are good for the items that you need to repeat on each page of the form. Think of header or footer or simly a company logo.

    Anyway, you can't place anything on a master page, if you do not want.

  • How do I paste text in a text block created via a master page?

    I'm struggling with InDesign CS 5.5 (on a Mac under OS 10.7.4): I'm sure it's very basic, but I just can't cope. (I'm a photographer, not a graphic designer, so a beginner with InDesign.)

    I created a series of master pages in order to throw a book it is the photos and text of 50-50. I try to paste text into a new page, based on one of my master pages of text. I can see the text box on the page as a dotted outline, but I can't seem to stick in there. When I try and click a command-V, InDesign creates rather a small square box with the first words of the text inside.

    Should I have not designed my book using templates? I thought that if I placed my graphic boxes and text (for the legends as well as the main text) on these master pages, it would be easy to fill the boxes with text and images. Rather pages based on these masters look like tempting fantasies, showing me the ghosts of real text and graphics boxes that I need for my book.

    (I already had a disastrous initial attempt to add text to my document by placing the entire file, when I knew he would still form edition - I then couldn't remove the superfluous pages without creating text doubled on the odd pages; and when I tried to dissociate things disappeared around text boxes.) I thought paste a section at a time instead would be foolproof. But not so far).

    To replace your frames of masters, if that is the route you decide to take, hold down the command + shift and click the image.

  • Question about InDesign: master page items I delete will not be missing.

    I'm working on bringing a book, with chapters that are separate files. Of course, there are a master page with various guides that I use a lot, as well as a header running pretty standard with the names section and chapter and page numbers. As is standard practice, I would like to appear on almost all the pages, but not on the front pages of the chapters. (There are other times I might want to replace it, but that is the main). So, I Ctrl-Shift-click, then delete them when I put in place a new chapter.

    Problem is that they are not missing. Every so often, I open a previous chapter and find that these items are back on the first page of this chapter, and I remove them again. I only noticed this since I did the chapters in question in a book file so that I can keep an eye on my pages and synchronize styles more easily.

    My best guess is that maybe it has something to do with the aforementioned synchronization. I don't want these chapters to share the same master pages, but don't want to keep IDto re-application of the elements of their share to the individual pages that I have already manually the deleted since (sometimes more than once). How can I stop this from happening? (Or otherwise, if it is not the cause of the problem, what else could be and how to deal with that?)

    Create a different master page based on your primary master page for these pages. Do not make substitutions on the pages of work.

  • InD 6 - MWord import master pages

    Customer sent a book format of approx. 200 w/15 PSC in MWord p. What a great story. Without sections or breaks for the PSC.

    I realized by mistake, I can't copy/paste without losing some formatting. This is why I imported in InD who saved the notes in the body of the text, etc. and footnotes of page always bind (and follow) the note text.

    I also realized that what created a single master page for the whole book. I generate the header text (incl. chp # & title on the right-hand page) control, it sure adds this header even to all pages as it should.

    If I try an additional master page for each chp, based on the first master page (A) (to continue all the guides, etc.), I can not, then select the header to edit for the next chp. Shift-select even does not work. I can't change the additional headers Masters.

    I don't see folios at the bottom, the letters of course for the master (A). In a first attempt with copy/paste of the same Word doc, I had no problem with the masters. Folios appeared and sequenced automatically on each page, even with additional masters for each chp. More I could select headers and edit them accordingly for the PSC.

    It seems that it is import feature which really creates problems of reformatting in IND. It's bad. Subtitles, attack space etc, all are the nightmare of reformat my design of the layout that I initially presented to the customer.

    Main question is how can I create masters that work for each chp who appear throughout the book also sequential folios?

    I tried to reformat doc Word into Sections for each chp, but makes worse than issues, sections then had their OWN sequence number each beginning with page 1. I thought important Sections, perhaps a new master could then be created for each chp. But no go apparently.

    Thanks for all the solutions...

    Larry

    1. Forget word of formatting in InDesign.
    2. Word does not know Master Pages, InDesign makes.
    3. Build your document with the character and paragraph Styles.
    4. Avoid any manual formatting
    5. Avoid any empty paragraph (twice per round trip)
    6. Configure the variable text accumulate on your title paragraph style.
    7. Insert these variables of text in text frames on the master page, those who should be on a separate on the top layer.

    Of course, you can override the master page with shift click items, but I will recommend strongly you never to do.

  • Master pages endangered

    I use 8 HR, and master pages for my project disappeared. No longer, they are listed in the project configuration tab, although they do not appear in my real project on my computer folder. Initially I had two master pages for this project. I tried to re - import and that they are not yet. I don't know what's going on but would appreciate any assistance. What to do? Thank you!!

    mp.png

    Hello

    I don't know why the pages would have performed an act of disappearance on you. Your project is not stored and is edited, even though it is on a network drive? If so, who could explain it.

    To get the listed pages again I could suggest that you try the following approach.

    Create a new master page by using a name that you have never used before. Perhaps the name Boffo.

    Right-click on the Page Master and choose explore.

    Close the project.

    In Windows Explorer (which should have opened earlier to the project location) locate a file named rhtemplate.apj.

    Open this file for editing using Notepad of Windows.

    It should look like this:

    Select from from and copy it. Then paste it to as many files as you have.

    Change the file names of Boffo.htt what are the actual file names.

    Close and save the file.

    Reopen the project and see if your Master Pages are back. If not, you may need to repeat these steps and delete it. CPD before restart RoboHelp file.

  • Violation of State protection session during the creation of master page / retail

    I am trying to create a new master page / detail in Apex 5.0, and at the end of the dialog box, I get this error message:

    Session state protection violation: this can be caused by manually editing the protected page P24_MASTER_PAGE_MODE point. If you don't know what caused this error, contact the administrator of the application for assistance.

    [I am the administrator of the application, and I have not the slightest idea either.]

    The error occurs when I click Next in the dialog Page attributes. The error also occurs in other applications in the same workspace. So I don't think it's important, but I replace the default detail Page number. (The default number of Master Page is grayed out.) In addition, the dialog box layout I had selected... in a table on the same page. I've also specified no master navigation and no reports of master.

    Following archived discussion of v4.1.1, Session State protection violation, I modified a diagnostic query and run the following in my diagram:

    Select item_id, nom_element page_id, region of apex_application_page_items where nom_element = ' P24_MASTER_PAGE_MODE'

    I'm not abreast of any application in my workspace with a Page 24 and sure enough, this query returns no data found. Please take note of this before suggesting to change the attributes of the element. I don't know where the item is and not only the database, apparently. Apex seems to think there is - but where?

    Since an earlier discussion which went nowhere, I crushed my most recent request for export file, but that has not solved the problem. I also went into my workspace apex.oracle and created a form master / detail without error.

    Thanks for your help!

    Obfuscation Express.

    Worsening Express.

    Apex, the product you hate to love.

    It turns out that the dialog box create a Master Page / detail has a Mode option of the Page on modal Page attributes page. I'd be willing to bet, this option is not P24_MASTER_PAGE_MODE. (There is also one for the details of page: P24_DETAIL_PAGE_MODE?) But it has the Normal and gray value.

    It is also now a Select list after my dose; I think it was a type item view only before the fix, which only confirms my thought. I was wondering, which could affect, or enable or disable the modification of the attributes of session state for that element. Model and its theme came to mind, and I remember that I had tried to understand something on a model in the last days, had made a change and tried to cancel it.

    To no avail, apparently.

    Thus, a little more explore new territory, trying to find the modified model and could not. But I read that templates are collected into themes, and I found that I could renumber 26 theme in the application (926). Then make a theme create, from the repository, changing from standard to all themes, click theme 26. Then it was switching themes and rematching models and remove the renumbered theme 926.

    Voila! I can now create a master page / detail without report master!

    Thanks for all the help, with particular satisfaction for Pranav.shah, who was on the train right but don't know which track to take.

  • Master page + alignment problem

    Hello

    Basically, I work on my site and I created an A-master page. Then I realized that I wanted to have a different master page because I wanted to MAKE another level to appear with the main master page. I'll do that for 3 subheadings more. It should be clear with the photos that I've provided (the right image is the homepage)

    Anyway. When I click on "Editor" he's going to the B-Master page, but this move a few centimeters down. I have reproduced the A-master page, it should be the same alignment. I had problems with the creation of the site where I had to group them so that it works correctly, so I tried this as a solution, but it did not work.

    Any help is appreciated.

    mp2.jpgmp1.jpg

    I thought about it. This is because the header at the top was not in the same position to the other. (God knows why it was not, because I have duplicate pages.)

    I think that when I was inserting a YouTube embed player should have played a little with it. I'm not sure.

  • can I change the indents on Master Page without changing the text on the pages already finished?

    Hello

    With the help of experts on this forum, I corrected some problems of dash/tab on my two Master Pages.

    Here's the thing, though - it screwed up the four pages that I already created (and then manually set): the text in the placeholder on the top right text that I had already added to these pages and did other things also.

    I need to create Master Pages to use for all new pages I create in the future?  Or is it possible to set a Master Page and then tell InDesign to apply these changes to the new page I create, but to leave alone the pages already created?

    Thank you, Malcolm

    If the pages need to be different, you can create a new master page for each of these appearances. Conversely, if it's just a one-time deviation from the master, you could click the document page and choose replace all elements of Master Page in the Pages panel menu. The duplicate text boxes that you see is because you have redone the master to the pages of the document. This could be avoided by setting the text frame on the Master Page as a main text block. Who help me?

  • Bringing images of the master page to the front

    Well, I hope I can explain it clearly enough.

    I created something framed for mywebsite with a right-hand vertical menu.  Everything has been created with quite complex graphics and what I would like is for some content to put behind the images create my layout on the master page.  But as I understand it, whatever it is created on the master page is locked and moved into the background.  To compensate for this I had to cut the PNG files, resize them and before them ontop of the content.  It's awkward, and the images don't align exactly leaving jagged edges.  I feel that I do a more difficult life for me, so is it not bring all the images and links towards the front of the page master?

    Thank you!

    Hello

    You can use the layers feature in Muse to bring the elements of the master page to the front. If you want to wear all the content of the master page to the front, the easiest way is to put all the master page content in a layer and put layer tha at the front.

    More info on layers here:

  • Bookmarks in Master pages

    Hello!

    Is it possible to link a hyperlink with a bookmark that has been created in the master page? If it is I don't see when I try to insert a hyperlink.

    All I can suggest FM HR content is maybe run through an FM model that puts 'Back to Top' link on each topic when it is paginated. Or you another approach is to create an Extendscript or some sort of generation after search & replace makes coding coding of HTML of each topic.

  • Master Page Bugs? Do not update the changes or apply correctly, New Page.

    I work for our new models of project with master pages and have found what appears to be several major problems:

    1 when I make changes in the Master Page (.htt file), none of those changes propagate to the topics that have been attributed to this Master Page. He shouldn't do that?

    2. as an alternative, I tried to apply a Master Page to several topics on the pod to the list of topics. The first problem with this is that you can not apply the existing Master Page. So, I had to create a new Master Page with my changes and then tried to apply it. However, several problems occur. First of all, none of the new Master Page formatting appears correctly. Second, for some reason it is duplicate the breadcrumbs at the top of the page (each master page, before and after only had a breadcrumb). It seems to have combined some of the formatting both before and after the template.

    I must also point out that when I apply the Master Page with changes to a new topic, it works correctly.

    I have read the documentation carefully and that you feel that I'm doing this correctly. The problem seems to be that the feature does not as promised. I see this as a serious problem. Our models are likely to change over time, and I need the ability to apply changes massively.

    Anyone know what could be the problem?

    Hello

    You must first understand Master Pages are used in two completely different ways. Looks like you make changes to the space reserved for the body of the Page Master and expected to see changes influence-related topics. Sorry, but that never worked.

    There are therefore two ways Master Pages are designed to work in RoboHelp.

    Method 1 - used to infuence the EXISTING content.

    Maybe you have created 1,000 and now you want to add a header, footer, or both to these existing entries. You set a Master Page and add a header, footer, or both to the Page Master and you associate it with topics. All of these topics now have a header or footer. Any changes made to the header and/or footer is filled throughout with all related topics.

    Method 2 - used to influence the new items that you create.

    You may know that you want to create many subjects that should have the same look and feel. Maybe all of them begin with a table that contains an image and text. So you set a Master Page and configure the space reserved for the body you want to see it. When you create new topics, you point to the Master Page so that as the topics are created, the content of the body of the Page master is filled in on the subject as a starting point. Once the topic has been created initially, the changes to the Master Page ARE NOT reflected in the topics. This method works identically to make a copy of a document. The copy is identical to the original. And any changes made to the original will be never copied during the copy. Only NEW copies will receive the changes.

    The breadcrumbs go, you have probably GLOBAL breadcrumbs activated in the recipe for the presentation of a single Source. This means that everything gets crumbs during the creation of the exit process. If you try to use the SELECTIVE Breading by adding space to the Page master, you must disable the breadcrumbs GLOBAL to avoid double.

    I hope that helps a little... Rick

  • How to apply the new Master Page to all subjects?

    Dear all:

    I work with RH8 to create the CHM, HTML Help file as main page layout.

    I create this new Master Page and want to apply to all subjects in the project, who are apparently a lot. And if I did a right click on each topic and choose 'Properties of the section' and the master page, one by one, it would be painful.

    So, it is possible to apply the new Master Page to all subjects in one fell swoop?

    Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hi PL

    If you click Display > pods > list of topics, you should see the pod Willam speaks. And inside this pod, you're able to press Ctrl + A to select all subjects. And it is certainly a valid way to associate several topics in the Master Page.

    Here's another one. If you look at the recipe for the presentation of unique Source of WebHelp, you should see an option that allows you to associate a master to all subjects Page as the result is created.
