Unrecognized battery, Reinstall the bios

Hello, I'm having a problem with my Sony VAIO Model: vpcsc1afm. It is that my battery has uneven performance. The computer works perfect for when the battery works, but other times I'll use it and the battery light starts flashing and my computer will tell me that the battery is not recognized (0% not charging). After the computer shuts down I can't turn it back on without taking out the battery and put it back in. It happened when I was just recharge with the computer turned off. It's going to be in charge and the battery light flashes and won't be able to turn on until I take the battery and put it again. I bought a new battery and it does exactly the same thing as the original. I also completely re-installed windows and started fresh and the fact remains.

I think that maybe re-install the BIOS will solve the problem. The bios is already being updated when I try to use the upgrade of bios from the Sony site it just indicates that the bios is up to date and will not install it. Does anybody know how re - install the BIOS if it is not an update for it?

Kevster0522,

You can reinstall the BIOS if the current version is already installed. Have you tried to install the following?

Update the configuration utility

http://eSupport.Sony.com/us/p/SWU-download.pl?MDL=VPCSC1AFM&upd_id=6489&os_group_id=6

Update ATI

http://eSupport.Sony.com/us/p/SWU-download.pl?MDL=VPCSC1AFM&upd_id=7727&os_group_id=6

Also have you tried to go into the BIOS and reset to the default settings? You can do this by tapping the F2 key at startup to the top.

  • Portege M200 - How can I change the BIOS battery?

    Hallo,

I have a Portege M200 and I want to change the battery of the BIOS but I don't know where it is!

    Can someone help me?
    Thank you!

    Hello

The BIOS battery is placed on the motherboard and to exchange it, you must remove a large number of parts and screws. It's a little tricky and that's why you should have experience in laptop disassembly.

If you want a new battery of the BIOS, you must contact the nearest authorized service provider. Technicians can do for you.

But why do you want a new battery? The battery will also be charged if you have the AC/DC adapter connected.

  • Where is the location of the bios on a Satellite Pro 4200 battery?

I need to change the battery of the BIOS on my laptop satellite. Could someone point me to the correct location on the computer of the battery.
    Thanx

It is not the problem to say where is the CMOS battery location but do you really want to disassemble this laptop on your own and without maintenance manuals?

In any case, you must remove top of keyboard and coverage. If I remember well the CMOS battery is placed on the left side of the mouse buttons.

Remember that you must use exactly the same CMOS battery. Use of incorrect batteries may ends with the explosion of the battery.

  • Toshiba T 8000 - where can I find the Bios battery?

I have a problem with my Bios, I put a password and now I have to reset the Cmos because I forgot it. I think that the only way to do it is to put the battery of the Bios for a few minutes. But where is the battery? I hope you can help me.
Sorry for my bad English, I hope you guys understand it.

    Hello

First of all I must tell you that your English is not so bad you think.

Anyway, this kind of problems can be solved simply by service partner and in my opinion you should not try to remove the battery alone, because you can damage other hardware components because they are very sensitive to electrostatic discharge.

Next time chose a word just your password. ;)

I find that if I put the computer on its side (after removing the cover and the location of the battery) is to use a small probe sharp plastic to help remove the battery and replace it with a new "fast". Leave the power cord plugged in but the computer must be in a motor off / stop State. Having some extra light shinning box can help too.

(* 1) * my knowledge the CMOS battery is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be replaced like for example on desktop PC
(* 2) * remove the CMOS battery would NOT reset the BIOS nor would be to remove the passwords.

If I understand your problem, you are not able to access the BIOS, but you can start the laptop and the system. Is this correct?

You have a kind of password (user / supervisor password?)

  • Cannot get into the BIOS on my L750D/030

When I turn on my laptop I do not get an option, press F2.

It comes up saying no network cable attached and found no media boot-able.

Looks like I have lost my BIOS.

How or what I can do to get back in?

I found that remove the central panel at the bottom allowed to access the battery of the BIOS, this withdrawal and re - insert, then reset the BIOS and access allowed in once more.

    Everything is good.

I need a little help, somehow my phone came with the idea to put a bios password itself. So, I don't know what it is.
I would really like Logging to my laptop once again if someone has a good idea?
I have google on the internet and I tried already:
-Play with the button start to try and bypass the biospass
-By holding the SHIFT key left to try and bypass the biospass
-Try the password for Toshiba / toshiba

If the warranty is already expired, so I opened the laptop and the disamblled it. It is not possible to remove battery from the Bios its place without killing him, and I can't find any piece of jumper or bios.
If anyone please an idea how to solve this problem?

my laptop has no floppy drive also.

Thanks for reading and I hope you can help me solve this problem.

    Friend,
    Koen Loep

    Hello Koen

This is a really silly situation. Problem is that BIOS removing the procedure is not the same for all models of laptops. Everything you tried is a kind of "normal procedure", but as you can see, it won't help you at all.

I'm afraid that you have just one solution: contact the nearest authorized maintainer and explain the situation. They can help you and remove the BIOS password. Try to convince people of service believe you that it is not your fault.

I wish good luck and hope that the service guy will help you.

  • Satellite A100 - 803 (PSAANE) - Trouble updating the BIOS in Vista

    Hello

I tried to update the BIOS on my laptop today. After the installation of the new BIOS, restarted the pc and then it showed a black screen with white display text material in the machine.

In the end, it says something about a corrupt CMOS. She said press F1 to default or F2 for Setup.

    I pressed F1.

The thing is that I don't know if it worked. I used a program to display the bios version and it seems up to date, but the CMOS thing me freaked out.

I met all of the planned maneuvers (AC adapter / CC plugged etc.) except in startup mode. I assumed that the boot mode is currently in the standard vista desktop.

    * What is this thing of startup mode? * It's driving me crazy. I searched the forums, google and nothing. How can I get the computer to "boot mode and not recovery mode" as the tutorial says.

I intend to reinstall the BIOS as soon as I know how to enter in the boot mode.

I think that this announcement has already answered in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=122727#122727

You're talking about the traditional BIOS update, but the fact is that on the Toshiba driver page you will find ONLY the base BIOS update windows.
All new BIOS updates are versions of WIN and can be updated only running a Windows operating system.

In the BIOS, the package should be unzipped everything first, and then an .exe file must be run.

    That s all ;)

  • Satellite A40-271: how to remove the BIOS password?

    Hello

    Sorry for my English.

I have to take the bios password on a Toshiba Satellite A40-271-PSA40E-09XD2-SP

I took out battery of the bios for a day or two, obviously without the laptop battery and the password of the bios keeps on.
Could you help me please?, I need your experience to solve this problem of this laptop.

    With regards to the King.

    Hello

You will not delete the BIOS password if you remove the CMOS battery.
This procedure has worked on the common desktop PC, but it will not work on Toshiba laptops.

The unknown BIOS password can be removed only by a Toshiba ASP because this requires a special procedure!

So contact the ASP in your country for assistance!
