  • Linksys WRT54G2 router: I can't guarantee or remove unsecured wireless network

    1. never use the default SSID "linksys". You should also do a unique SSID. If not, try your computer to connect to the router from your neighbor instead of your.

    2. Windows remembers wireless networks. You must remove the old unsecured network in the preferred networks list to get rid of him. After securing the wireless, you do not "have unsecure Linksys network. It's just that see Windows network called "linksys" and shows that all saved with this SSID wireless networks.

So, the problem isn't the router or that a computer "picks up" a signal not secure (except even once, you really another router linksys with the default settings in the district), but the computer has a list of networks, he knows and shows that.

Remove all linksys (SSID linksys) networks in the list of favorite networks on all of your computers. Make sure you set up a unique SSID instead and ensure that. That should do it.

If the computers still captures a unsecure linksys network after you clear the list of preferred networks, it may be a different router. Unplug your router to power. Then again search for networks in the neighborhood. If the linksys appears again (probably with a weaker signal than before) is not your router.

    Hi all

I have a problem with the wireless (Broadcom adapter) card, it randomly falls free wifi for no apparent reason (I disabled the modules breast win 7 energy saving etc).

Running the diagnostics of material in the latest Toshiba/Broadcom driver package has given everything going on with the exception of the SPROM checksum failure.

Is this a sign of faulty hardware? is it possible to reflash the SPROM with the correct data?

Thanks a lot for all helo,.

    > Is this a sign of faulty hardware? is it possible to reflash the SPROM with the correct data?
I think you're on the wrong track
If the wireless network adapter is listed and recognized correctly in Device Manager, then the WLan driver has been installed correctly.

The sporadic WLan disconnection problems could be related to different reasons that are:
    WLan router compatibility problem
Configuration of the router (kind of encryption WPA WPA2, TKIP, AES)
    WiFi signal strength

I recommend you to reset the Wlan router.
Then you test the performance of Wlan using unsecured wireless (of course only for testing purposes)
Then test the different encryption settings.
Also test the laptop with or without the power adapter connected.

  • Unable to connect to my wireless network

I recently discovered that my wifi for vista would not connect to the internet even if the signal is 100% solid.

My wireless House has a WEP encryption and it has already been saved on the laptop but since yesterday it ask me the WEP key when I try to connect it and wouldn't connect even if only the WEP pass has been entered correctly. The message that usually appears at the end is "windows is unable to connect, try the other network", even when I tried my companion's unsecured network.

I checked the Wireless driver from Device Manager and it works properly. I even try to update the driver and received a message that the driver is 2-update.

  • Satellite Pro L100: Wireless network card cannot find the Wlan router

    Hello

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite pro L100, which has a built in wireless card, an Atheros AR5005g. I activated the card wireless via the switch on the laptop, and then I let the search for available networks. She is 4-5 or secured creditor and unsecured networks in my area, but it does not find my router which is about 3 meters from the hotel!

I tried to manually configure my network to see if the laptop can locate it, but without success. I've used a network card in my last laptop, a Belkin 802.11 g that I then inserted in the excellent connection laptop and bingo to 54mps. But I want to use the integrated wireless card that captures an unsecured somewhere network in my area but the signal is weak and is very slow.

Can someone help me please? The router that I'm trying to access is a Netger WGR 614. NETGEAR were not useful.
    Rgds,

    Richard.

    Hello

First of all I want to say that for these questions there is not a magic solution.
I think that you need to check many options that could have a negative influence on the WLan connectivity.
First of all, you should check if the Wlan router supports WLan standard even as the Wlan card. For example 802.11 B or G or both

Disable all ciphers on the router as well as the MAC address filtering.
Then check the WiFi channels! Try to use the same channel on the map of local area network on the router.

Which driver do you use? Try to download the latest WLan driver Atheros site.
I think the Atheros provides the own local network configuration utility. Try to use it.

As you can see, there are many options that must be verified

    Additional information:
Also, one of my notebooks is not able to connect to the router because I use a WLan router that supports a 802.11 BG WLan standard and in my book the AB 802.11 card has been installed.
So I can't connect to the router ;(

  • Wireless network connection

I am an employee of Life Insurance Corporation of India. When I turn on my PC in the office premises, a connection named "dlink" appears in my PC. After the connection (without using any modem or external device) I can browse the internet. How is that possible? The brief description of the connection is the following:

    Wireless network connection

    Connectivity: Internet IPv4

    Name: dlink

    Strength: good signal/fair/poor

    Security type: unsecured

    Radio type: 802.11n

    SSID:Dlink

Should I access the internet by connecting through this link? Y at - it all threat to the security of my personal information or whether it's bad for me. Please notify. The link also shows a message that "the information transmitted by means of this link can be visible to others". Please specify.

    Hi SANJIT_78,

    ·         The computer is connected to a domain environment?

    ·         Are you facing any performance issue with wireless network connection?

    ·         What operating system is installed on the computer?

The computer you are using apparently have a wireless network interface installed in it and therefore can detect and connect to any available wireless network. The dlink network is the name of a wireless network available in your area and your computer to connect to this wireless network.

Wireless networks more private need a password to connect to them and therefore are protected. But the dlink network to which you are connecting is apparently a public wireless network, and it doesn't have a password to connect to it. So which allows any user to connect their devices to this network wireless. Due to this insecure wireless network mode, your computer displays you the message "the information transmitted through this link may be visible to others". If you want to connect to this wireless network, I suggest you first protect your computer with a good program antivirus and firewall.

To enable the Windows Firewall on your computer, you can check this link:

How can I turn on or turn off the firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later versions?

  • Wireless network are not not on possible networks

    Hello

I am currently in Italy and having problems with the router to my apartment.  The network will not appear on the list of possible networks, even if I have the laptop located directly next to the router.  I can connect via a cable, but it is of little use because the router is in the House of someone else.  I can also connect near unsecured networks, but would prefer to use that encrypted in the apartment.  My iphone is connected to the correct network and phone as connected friend Google.  I tried to reboot everything and switching between using Intel PROset and Windows to manage wi - fi connections, but without success.  Not the most tech savy person, so not much else I can do besides.

I am running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Latitude D630.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions - I was unable to verify the configuration of the router.  The problem was that the router was set to channel 13, while my network card would take only 11 channels (anyone have an idea why this is?-my iphone and Mac of the other roommates had no problem with that)

I managed to install a new driver, and I can now connect to the wireless network.

  • Router E4200, cannot secure the wireless network

When my E4200 wireless network appears on a discovery list of wireless networks, there a padlock beside him in devices (like my Xbox and iPhone) that who would use to show that it is a wireless network, requiring a password. When I use my Xbox to connect wireless now, he said: "you connect to an unsecured network. Are you sure you want to continue? »

I used the web portal to select 'Factory Reset' of my router. I also told my iPhone to forget and not automatically connect wireless network. After factory reset, I went to the configuration section of the web page wireless network access router, put a new name for the wireless network, personal WPA2 enabled for 2.4 and 5 GHz networks, developed a completely new password for two I had never used before and then looked for the network on my iPhone. I chose it and it connected right away without asking for a password. Still once, the network does not appear with a padlock next to him in the list of devices to the network from my iPhone WiFi and my XBox says always that this is an unsecured network.

When using my internet browser to access router, WiFi networks are both classified as WPA2 Personal and each has a password in the password box (and Yes, I recorded the changes - that's what it shows even if I disconnect and then reconnect to the router access.) I tried to remove the power cord for 30 seconds and plug in again and there is no change.

It's quite a recent change, like maybe the last week or more. I don't know if there was a firmware update or what - my router is configured for auto updates and when I click to check the latest updates, it says that there are no more updates available.

TL; Dr: said access my router my wireless security is turned on. None of my wireless devices see as secure WiFi networks and each of them can connect without having to type a password.

Do a reset factory and set up from scratch.

    If this fails, try this:

Manually download the FW file to the local office of PCs.
Reset the router, use IE or FF with all security disabled add-ons, load the FW file and let you treat.
Factory reset the router once more and set up from scratch.

  • Wireless network connection is not a valid IP configuration / wifi problems

I recently bought a laptop Asus G74 from Best Buy. It is currently running Windows 7 x 64 home premium. I am away from home on a job to work on a project for my company and during the two weeks have stayed at the same hotel with the same wireless, leaving home for thanksgiving between stays. The first week I spent the unsecured WiFi, download programs and games and play. I left the House, returned and used the wifi day, realized there is an ethernet cable in my computer bag laptop and connected to the hard line for the next day. I went to a colleague of room (a room down), went to look for the WiFi, and the trouble started.

Diagnostics Windows network tells me that the wireless network connection is a valid IP configuration. I thought it would be something to do with the drivers, so I opened by Device Manager, went through each of my NICs 5 or more and look for the updates of drivers. A couple said they have successfully installed, but nothing has changed my ability to connect. Then I thought about rolling back the drivers, but since I've had the laptop for such a short time (less than 30 days) the option is grayed out. It wouldn't make sense since I could connect the previous week on the same wireless.

From there, I decided to try a system restore to a point when I was getting into at first hotel. Restarting the laptop and the restore was successful. I tried to log in again and the same problem arises. I downloaded a couple of my favorite, Malwarebytes, and SUPERantispyware tools. Both have nothing.

So I did some research and digging and scholar on ipconfig (flushdns / release / renew) with an elevated command prompt. I tried these and they told me my media is "disconnected" and cannot be released or renewed. I found this strange since I can see the wifi network. I tried to use the Fn + F2 to toggle the wifi and WIMAX (no idea which is incidentally) with simple ipconfig and media disconnected status does not change. I also read that disabling ipv6 might help, so I did this and still no dice. I restored system again for the 2nd point earlier and it still does not connect.

Drop-down wifi icon in the bottom right of the screen, after trying to connect to the network unsecured wifi here (BWCamarilloInn), it reads 'Unidentified network' and under it "no internet access. I had different flavors of this message, including "limited access".

I thought I'd try a cross-check to see if it was not on the end of the hotel. I pulled out my laptop backup enterprise and was able to immediately connect to the wifi, and my colleague from work related to his phone and his netbook. I saw another thread somewhere on a Windows forum that suggests a clean boot. Tried, has not changed anything either.

Currently I have about 5 different adapters according to the Windows Network Diagnostics: the 1/2 LAN connection and Wireless Network Connection 1/2/3.
I also have 5 in the drop-down list of the network adapters in the Device Manager.

    Intel Centrino WiMAX 6150
    Intel Centrino Wireless-N 6150
    Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapt
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapt #2
    Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

and a separate drop-down list called adapters Intel Centrino WiMAX, with a menu drop down called function Intel® Centrino WiMAX 6150 driver.
They are all updated when right click and check for driver updates.

I also looked through the different adapters and checked to see if the ipv4 settings have been defined to automatically detect the IP of/etc.

The laptop is great and I wouldn't really have to take it back to Best Buy. Other problems seem to be of culture that may be useful to know. Patch of League of Legends sometimes throws me an error "kernel patch pvp.net has stopped working", or just sits on the main projection before it hits the pitcher. Sometimes, it goes past the pitcher and he's here without connect to or start the main game. I heard that this has to do with the network stuff. I am computer literate, but I'm not terrible with networking or internet configuration stuff. If anyone can give me a hand, that would be much appreciated. I'll help you as much as I can. I've also attached the current ipconfig info (I'm connected to the internet via an ethernet to the wall cable, League of legends should therefore be able to launch).

    Thanks in advance.

    minor changes to the grammar/punctuation

Hey, sorry for the slow response. Just got home a few days, and since then, I've been able to connect both the wifi just next door (I'm on the end furthest from the beach with her, but I can still connect) and on my netgear n wireless router. I can also access the router dashboard. Fail to starbucks so just wifi next door was the next best thing. ASUS finally answered after 11 days, saying I should reinstall the wireless driver, which I told them was one of the first things I did. Well. It seems that the hotel wifi and I have no idea why this is the case. I was able to connect to the wifi at the hotel the first week and not the second while they might have changed something. I have no idea. I'm just glad that it connects to other networks, both guaranteed and no guaranteed. I'm just a bit worried that it might happen again in the future but I always wear a hard line in the event of an emergency and a business laptop backup.

With this new information, should I worry still try to fix anything with the hotel wifi, or do I just leave it as is? Thanks for the support continuous, 100 times better than ASUS right now: P

Thanks for any help! It happened for about eight months and it's really frustrating.

    Hello

Check with Dell and Broadcom, their documentation diagnostics online and drivers.
and ask questions in the forums about known problems. The two Dell driver update, then
Broadcom if there is more recent.

    More troubleshooting:

It is possible that the drivers you use, even if later now available, are not
100% Windows compatible 8.1. Check with the manufacturer of your system (motherboard support
Manufacturer of custom systems) and/or the manufacturer of the device. This one, like Intel,
RealTek, Atheros and others may have newer versions is not available to the mother of system
-site of the manufacturer on board. And continue to check in with them regularly over the next year.
Also update the BIOS, drivers from the chipset of low level and major embedded and separate
    device drivers.

Download your applications and devices in Windows 8.1

    =========================================================

Don't forget to check the updates of the firmware on the router, because who can have a definite effect
on connections Windows 8.1 same if other OS systems connections are fine.

Check with support of the manufacturer of the system (motherboard for customized systems manufacturer) and/or
the manufacturer of real device driver updates. If there is no newer versions re - install the same
ones. Ask known in their forums (if any) problems.

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Your router be guess here, you have successfully updated the firmware a possible
solution? And I would update your WiFi drivers on computers. How far away are they
you have set in the router? Are there obstacles in the path?

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click
top - tab of the driver - write version - click on update driver (can't do
nothing that MS is far behind the certification of drivers). Then right click on the Wifi
Device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system Maker you can see the same device manufacturer
more recent versions. (Those become your fonts of rescue system manufacturer).

Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other update
Drivers Windows 8 like updated drivers.

  • Add a preferred wireless network

I want to configure the wireless preferred networks on a pool of 25 computers at once while no users of the console/GUI/admin is entered, that is to say the computers are provisioned waiting on the registration screen. All computers are properly configured for access "remote management".

I'm looking for something in Apple Remote Desktop to add some favorite wireless networks with the terminal command "networksetup" to these remote computers

    I got the terminal command:

    sudo networksetup - addpreferredwirelessnetworkatindex en0 ssid 0 wpa2 password

    Any help?

    Hi basil,

-Something that should work can use the ARD from the Mac Admin officer, to run ssh sessions by officials of the ARD on clients, and then run the Terminal command.

-J' used a script like this before restart locked ARD Agents on clients via ssh.  No GUI sessions running on the clients.

The script Unix in ARD would be similar to:

    for N in 'client1.local' 'client2.local' 'clientn.local '.

    do

    {

    SSH '$N' 'sudo networksetup - addpreferredwirelessnetworkatindex en0 ssid 0 wpa2 password.

    }

    fact

-The script is run using an adminuser which is available on each client with ssh keys setup (no password) and an entry in/etc/sudoers so the sudo command prompts nor a password.

-L'adminuser can be activated for this task in a separate script:

    Disable: chsh s operation adminuser

    Administer enable: chsh-s/bin/bash

    hope this helps, dwbrecovery

  • HOW THE AIRPORT TIME CAPSULE WIRELESS NETWORK IS PROTECTED?

I implemented the airport Time Capsule, using a DSL modem connected to the internet as its bridge.  MacBook Pro was used for initial set up by the bolt of lightning to Ethernet connector and then disconnected and works perfectly.  Now, I would like to use Wi - Fi for my Samsung phone not iOS.  On the Samsung wireless I connect to my home network using a password.  Well, I don't think that a password was never set.  How can I configure my wifi at home to establish a password?   I don't think that the modem settings should enter in solving this for me, but I'll add that the modem required a static IP address be entered for this connection when its router features have been disabled for the connection of bridge.

If the Time Capsule (TC) provides the wireless network, then you can secure it using AirPort Utility, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the TC and then, select change.
    • Select the wireless tab.
    • In the wireless security, select the type of security. I highly recommend that you choose: WPA2 Personal
    • Enter a password in the field password wireless. Enter the same password in the verify password.
    • Select Update.

  • How better to create a wireless network

I just moved into a property where every room has an Ethernet jack.  I intend to wire hard as many devices as I can but I also want to create a wireless network that will cover the whole of the property.

There is no single ethernet jack which will result in only a single wireless router will cover the whole of the property.  What is the best way for me to move forward?

I have a new time Capsule and a couple of Airport Express.  Is it possible to use the Ethernet available in each room to create a unique wireless rather than Beach which extends from the time Capsule?

    How would I do that?

The 'best' way would be something like the following:

    • Where the Internet stream comes home, it's where the Internet modem should be located.
    • Connect a wired router only or your Time Capsule near the modem and connect it to the modem by Ethernet.
    • If this place has an Ethernet distribution panel which feeds on Ethernet wiring to the rest of the House, then connect the router or the Time Capsule to this Panel.
    • You can then place your AirPort Express base stations where you need a Wi - Fi connection by connecting to the appropriate outlet.
