unusual cpu throttoling

Hello, I have an unusual situation on my laptop y560. the cpu is about 30% without doing anything. the laptop is equipped with an i5 430 m a 4 gigabytes of ram. I scanned for viruses and nothing. I installed linux and everything seemed ok. but when I installed windows again, even before installing the drivers the cpu was 30% without doing anything! the same thing happens after installing drivers. a friend of mine with a with a similar laptop i3 one the same windows (win 7 pro msdn) has only 10% on idle. What could be wrong? all solutions?

I have a MacBook Air from mid-2013, the last El Capitan running everything.

He began to have constantly the fan at the top at all times. Well, when the computer wakes up first, he is silent, but within 5-10 minutes, the fan speed increases, computer is warm enough, and the fan is noisy. I'm not doing something unusual CPU-wise - just Mail and Safari, and little things like that. Indeed, even if I just open the computer and let it sit there, with nothing running, he ends up heating and the fan will run up to the noisy.

This causes also the battery to flow quickly and prematurely.

Things I did to try to fix it:

    Reinstall El Capitan

    Reset the SMC

Neither of these helped at all.

Any suggestions on what else to try? It drives me crazy.

  • I'm looking for a server for 3-5 guests

It is a pity that the Mac mini is not more than the 'server' is sold. Just what I need. Buying used is not an option.

There is a doctor's office. The database must be running there and a quad core would be a very good idea. Two small SSDS are needed. Earlier, there was the Mac mini server perfect for databases of this size.

But what you take right now?

All Mac Mini are now dual-core, the Mac Pro is too big and with graphics cards, so unnecessary for these tasks.

    And now?

Are you sure that it is not a current Mac Mini at the height? EMI would be very unusual CPU for the neck of the bottle. I have the Minis 2014 serving up to 230 MB/s (servile ethernet and RAID drives) and the CPU is rarely more than 10% use.

Don't dismiss the Mini as a solution until you have borrowed a road-tested.

  • Windows 10 build 9926 unusually heavy use of CPU on the venue Pro 7130 i3 11

Define how the other owners of 11 Pro 7130 meeting places had good success in the management of the Windows 10 preview, I conducted today a place in upgraded from 8.1 to 10 build 9926 (the one with the Continuum, which is great), but I'm having the issue of constant between 50 and 99 percent high CPU load , with no guilty in the Task Manager. Before you go to format and do a clean install I wanted to ask if anyone knew this problem.

EDIT: the unusually high load seems to be triggered by a process called Windows Driver Foundation - user, whose executable mode driver is wudfhost.exe.

A complete reinstallation did not help.

EDIT 2: If someone experience the problem, disable completely the service named "Windows Driver Foundation - user-mode driver framework" helped, with seemingly no ill effects, although after weird restarting it may need to be disabled later.

As a warning, I note how in general, it is never a good idea to go mucking in services.msc.

Some information about my experience with the Windows preview 10, the two pre - and after Cortana on a Dell coming Pro 11:

    1. Builds before the last Technical Preview 9926 looked much more like Windows 8.1

      1. They shared the same start menu and app store. It was almost like 8.1 with all it's bugs ironed out - and a few goodies in. Really worked well on my V11P.
    2. 9926 build adds many new features - but also adds tons of bugs.
      1. Look around the net and you will see common problems that are corroborated by many users of the technique of the preview. You will have to take the good with the bad.
    3. Upgrades (from 8.1 to 10) on-site are problematic - ESPECIALLY with the most recent Technical Preview 9926
      1. My installation of the latest version of Win10, migrate my settings 8.1 resulted in an installation with tons of questions. My Active stylus barely worked - sensor HID driver will fail to load and having problems. He would go to the mode standby and never go on low power, draining my battery. He had 100% fail still to wake up from its sleep - I would get a black screen that requires a hard shutdown and reboot. I also had the CPU usage very high with the WDF service. As mentioned above.
      2. Overall, a lot of things online really as you can imagine - and this is frankly not worth it to upgrade on site.

So, with that said - what was the solution?

    New installation.

Here are the steps to get the best Windows 10 installation on a coming 11 Pro (I know - in my experience).

    1. Download the version of ISO - installation of a USB disk with the utility in Rufus

      1. Boot on it by pressing volume up several times during boot up until you get the boot menu. Then use volume up to move to the bottom of the list - low volume to select the highlight boot device.
      2. After the installation of the key USB - copy the most recent copy of Dell Wireless driver for your Intel/Dell Wireless card, a copy of 7-zip, and a copy of the latest Dell cabin Pack for the 7130 file in a directory on the USB drive (make one, name drivers or something).
    2. Install the Windows technical overview 10
      1. Delete all partitions on disk 0 (or whatever your SSD) until you have one unpartitioned space - and install it.
    3. When you first - start your screen will be slow/choppy as all hell!
      1. This is mainly due to the fact that there are very few compatible drivers cooked in Windows 10.
    4. Do not start to install the drivers from the Dell site - many will prove to be obsolete.
      1. Only install the drivers from Dell/Intel Wireless to obtain network connectivity and the internet
      2. Then install 7 - Zip and extract the CAB Driver Dell file in a directory on your C:\ called "C:\Dell.
    5. Now you have a network connection - start Windows Update

    1. Windows different Intel chipset - including video device drivers will begin to download.
    2. It will ask to reboot - let him.
  • Now - if your tablet is something like mine - after it restarts, it will start flickering like hell.
    1. This is the video driver Intel panic hell. Tablet may hang - just persist through the pain and continue.
    2. I found mine to panic more with the help of the touchscreen - so I plugged a mouse.
    3. Mine has been fixed by disabling "Auto Refresh Panel" in the Intel graphics options menu (click Law Office, Graphics Options). This setting can be found under the section power options.
      1. Do it and restart. My flicker ceased thereafter.
  • At this point - I expected and wanted things worked, but open Device Manager
    1. (Start menu - type "Device Manager") - or-(Start Menu-> Control Panel-> Device Manager)
    2. There was a last device without driver SM Bus controller. Click - Update right driver and point it to the directory of D:\Dell you have extracted the CAB file.
    3. It was't until what I installed the driver for the device that he would go to sleep properly connected.
  • Now - a word of warning. Unlike earlier versions of win 10 - my Eve connected sessions drain about 1, 500 MW/h. That's what I saw in 8.1 Win no matter what I tried - I wonder if there is some sort of driver problem - and replacement needs. My sleep study reports show some offenders - everything works for less than 1% of the sleep cycle, but the material is not a descendant to C3 to sleep, which is where the power drain is. Looks like a driver chipset of a certain type of malfunction - I'll do a trace and try to isolate the problem.

Apart from that-, all has been MUCH more stable. Sleep (although draining the battery) are coherent rock, I have the high utilization of the processor in the stronger WDF service, and the active stylus works exactly as it should.

I'll stop it between uses for now - and keep stable and see if there is a driver chipset or something that solves this problem.

  • Unusual behavior/temperatures of CPU

So recently (like, a day or 2 ago), I noticed something very odd.

I use speedfan to monitor my temperature and usually when I am just browsing the internet/general use the inactive cores of 49-57 ° C. I have not changed my routine or too recently added new software.

But then, one day, I noticed that for some reason, not only does my uses main spike place high enough (loading a GAME level) but also my temperatures were also quite high (66-70). Try to close out the process in hopes of the computer itself to cooling does not work down. He remains in the range of the middle of the 1960s, and the CPU usage seems to be quite high also.

Did not find any abnormally strange processes running in the Task Manager, btw.

The day of this announcement, the climate is colder than usual, and be in the range of the 1960s in this weather is warm enough. yesterday has been meteoric hot and the time went to the 70's as indicated.

My main concern is what might be causing this peak CPU usage which, in turn, can cause all this heat?

Or a dust inside cause processors to redouble efforts for a reason any?

It is for this reason that I'm afraid of never play games on this system...

EDIT: I think I found the cause: notifications pop up of the of the Overwolf cat.

Edit2: Zero Ok, that it was probable cause... It doesn't happen as often as I uninstalled but it is still ongoing and I don't know why... Most recent increase in the CPU seemed to occur after trying to open HP Coolsense. Any ideas as to the reason behind the peaks of the random semi-permanent processor? And please, no phone calls.

Interesting!  After that I saw your post I looked into the matter a little further.  Here is a link to additional information.

You must mark this post as solved.  It will help users more easily find answers to their problems.

  • GPSOverWiFi eat all my CPU

I installed macOS Sierra today on my and ever since then, my computer (even after several reboots) was overheating and slow. Looking at activity monitor, the "GPSOverWiFi" process remains constantly close to, or above, 100% of the CPU. I guess this is the culprit because it is the only process taking more than 10-15% of the CPU. There are only 380 KB of memory, and no other process uses unusually large amounts of memory.

I tried to quit smoking by Force, but it just comes back.

I tried to disable location Services and WiFi, but doesn't seem to affect this process.

    Any other suggestions?

I don't see this loading process at all. Are you sure that it is a process of Apple? It might be some third party who is not compatible with Mac OS software.

Something that starts like that may be in your/Library/LaunchAgents and/Library/LaunchDaemons and ~/Library/LaunchAgents files. It would be a file plist with domain reverse naming scheme.

If you select the process, click on the Info button, button open files and folders, you can see something that points to a location in the source program.

  • Mac Pro keeps stopping, lightweight CPU a / b overtemp on

I bought a used Apple Mac Pro 2.1 in December.  I use it mainly for editing my photos on Adobe PS, using filter of camera RAW.  The unit never gave me any problems, until early last week.  Here are the specs:

    | 8-CORE 3.0Ghz (2 x Quad-Core)

    | 32 GB OF RAM

    | 250 GB SSD

    | V RAM OF 4 GB GTX-680

    | Double BONE - El Capitan (primary) and Yosemite on two separate boot disks.

All started early last week, with an error screen when I open an CR2 on Adobe PS file.  I got this message...

"Camera Raw has temporarily disabled acceleration graphics processor because of the error." Update your graphics card driver may solve the problem. "Choose the option 'Use the graphics processor' in the dialog box Camera Raw prefer to re - enable GPU support.

In 5 minutes, I when preferences and choose 'use the graphics processor', then continued my work.  Subsequently, the Mac suddenly stops without any warning whatsoever! No message, no noise from the tower itself, the power light remained.  I then turned off the power.  I waited for a minute and he went back on.  The password screen, it would be closed again.

I then let the rest of the machine for 30-45 minutes, removed any buildup of dust inside using compressed air and turned on the unit return to perform minor troubleshooting. as well as other "light work" to avoid an overload of the system... He will stop in 35 minutes to turn on the machine.

Still, I unplugged everything (including the power cord) to reinstall the two riser cards. I powered the Mac with the access panel open, to keep an eye on something unusual.  All fans are smooth running, no sign of problems.  Until I updated the driver (Nvidia Cuda) GPU, the machine will stop again in 10 minutes!  Frustrated, I opened the side panel to only discover, both red lights (CPU A / B) on the section of the overheating of the logic board.  After the recharge time, I restarted the MAC and ran a tempature monitor I have installed.  I noticed the radiator of the Northbridge turned very quickly when I was running Adobe PS, please refer to the picture I have attached.

I have no idea what to do next.  I'm not sure if I need a replacement PSU, or something else entirely.  Pointers, help and/or advice.  I greatly appreciate it!

  • Safari web content to 99% of the CPU

Sometimes, my Macbook Air start at full speed of heat fan just because I have Safari open. If I close the fan falls down.

You have any idea why this is happening?

It would depend on which Web site you are browsing. If it is a site that is not necessarily very dependent on intensive graphics or videos, this kind of CPU usage would be unusual.

aAlso remember that modern computing devices use multiple processors, same numbers greater than 100% are not atypical.

  • High temperature CPU on Satellite M30

    Hello

I have a Satellite M30 852 with Pentium M 1.5 GHz processor. My problem is that the heater does not start until the CPU temperature reached 70 degrees, which I think is a bit high, no mention that when it has reached this temperature I can not keep the laptop on my legs because it burns... and also to kind of warm around the touchpad and left side of the keyboard.

My question is if there is any software I can use to take the cooler start at low temperatures, to keep, or if there is no setting I can adjust the laptop utilities to solve this problem (in addition to throttle CPU cooling where is defined in the performance).

    Thank you all in advance!

Could PS: Anyone tell me which button support when starting, to get into the BIOS...? Because the F1, esc or del does not work.

Post edited by: master of ceremonies

    Hello

The temperature of 70 ° C nothing unusual and in my opinion not too high.
Is that it s not recommended to use the laptop on your legs or in bet, etc.
You should always be sure that there is enough free space (left, right, bottom) around the laptop for the circulation of fresh air!

Usually, the Toshiba power saver controls the cooling method and the CPU processing speed. If you want to change some settings you should the fact in the basic power saver menu.

PS: on m30 the phoenix BIOS has been installed and therefore, you should use the F2 key.

  • Re: Tecra M5 PTM51E - CPU upgrade question

Hi, I have Tecra M5 PTM51E model with processor Yonah T2600 (2.16 ghz, 667fsb) core duo, a few days ago that I just replaced the processor with core 2 duo - Merom T7400 (2.16 ghz, fsb667) and everything works almost well... the processor is correctly recognized, I was able to install win7 64 bit.

The only problem I have is the fan speed, it goes full speed laptop to stop, I have the latest BIOS 3.70, Toshiba Power Saver - no matter what I put the fan goes 100% speed, temperatures are ok, HWmonitor presents the 28-30 C idle and 60 in stress and fan was cleaned up during the replacement of the central processing unit.

I guess I need media diagnosis/service of toshiba to set correct values for the speed of the fan on the processor?

    I appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

    > I upgraded the CPU. It works very well outside the CPU fan runs constantly at 100%

You have installed a stronger CPU that is faster and produces more heat dissipation.
It s nothing unusual that your fan runs faster.
The cooling module must run more quickly to make sure that the CPU would be cooled properly.

  • CPU in Satellite Pro U200 temperatures are too high

    Hello

I'm a little confused / concerned about the temperature of my CPU (Intel T7200) in my Satellite Pro U200-199. The confusing thing is that the case temperature is generally higher than that of the junctions of the two nuclei, which is the opposite of how it should be.

    Everyone knows this?

As well, the case temperature is higher at seems reasonable, even in basic use. Basic use of office applications takes the temperature to 49 c, and then everything above that (opening an application for example) increases the temperature has high degrees of the years 50 or 60. Under a larger load, temperature (T-box) goes up to 65 C.

One of the consequences is that the fan is on most of the time.

I would like to know if there is a problem with the measurement of the temperature T-box is measured correctly, or if the processor overheats. If the measure is a fault, then do nothing about this? Like changing the BIOS?

I should mention that the computer is only a week and has a BIOS update.

Any ideas or help greatly appreciated.

    David

    Hello

The temperature of 50-60 degrees is not unusual. But I wonder how you measure this temperature or what tools or utilities did you use?

Usually the CPU is not only responsible for the temperature inside the laptop.
The graphics card and HARD drive also produce heat which increases the temperature of the laptop.

Anyway, the computer supports protection against overheating. This protects the laptop and parts from overheating.
If the temperature reaches a critical threshold the laptop would be automatically stops down
but it seems that the laptop works properly so in my opinion that you should not be worried. ;)

  • Satellite A300 - 1-3 - question on CPU Fan

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1 3, recently I had problems with my laptop in which the laptop suddenly stops working, when I checked the forum, I was advised to clean the cooling system, which I did and all is now ok; recently, I noticed that CPU fan stops momentarily, then back to work, is this correct?

If this is not the case, what should I do, should I replace the CPU fan? Or what?

As far as I know CPU fun is running automatically and it will run when this is necessary so that the fan behavior is nothing unusual.

If your laptop works well and, after cleaning, you didn t notice any more close I think that everything is OK.

I have this laptop for almost two years and it works perfectly, but I discovered thease days that the temperature of the cpu at full load is charged to O it comes to 70 and 95-98 degrees celsius.

My question is is there a hardware protection built into the motherboard of the laptop from overheating or shuold I worry more about the problem?

I always keep a litle raised to allow the laptop airflowbelow and I can hear the fan operation.

    Hello

It s nothing unusual that the CPU temperature increases to a higher level during the CPU works with maximum performance.
It is a fact, not a problem!

If you ask if there is a protection of equipment built into the motherboard to protect the laptop from overheating.
-> Yes, the phone supports this overheating protection! If the temperature occurs at the critical level the laptop stops automatically.

In your case the laptop no shutdown and so I don't assume that everything is ok

    Hello

It is a normal process that the temperature rises when you play games.
All the measures implemented should run with maximum efficiency and produce heat.
    There is nothing unusual.

I don't think that the temperature is hot. The fan starts to cool the CPU if the temperature rises to a particular level. Cooling modules does not run all the time. If the laptop gets hot the operating system should automatically stops the unit. It is a thermal protection which is a part on Toshiba laptops.
But if the laptop works properly and it closes then I guess we're all ok.
    Enjoy your laptop ;)

  • HPE - 590t: Suggestions for replacement CPU Cooler & case fan

    Hi all

I would like to replace the fan in my HPE - 590 t.  Recently, he made loud noises and yesterday it sounded like a car was at my house with the idling of the maximum RPM.

I know that some have recommended the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO in previous threads, however I have some concerns regarding this cooler would fit in my case, as it seems that I have about 1.5 inches of space to the left of the cooler and about 1' of headroom above the stock cooler.

Here are the specs for my motherboard.

I have a case of average size, I would be grateful any recommendation for the appropriate CPU cooler.

Ideally, I'd like something that could last another two years and be as quiet as possible.

HP DV9310 Windows 7 Professional 4 GB RAM

    DV7t-6100 Windows 7 Pro 8 GB RAM

    Ruette,

I wanted to let you know that you were right about the question of the back plate on the motherboard.   I decided to order the aftermarket cooler that I mentioned, and when I went to install it, it appeared to be welded directly on the motherboard.  I was puzzled because I've never seen such a design.

Because I could not remove the back plate, I couldn't install the new heatsink.

Being faced with the choice of either ordering a heat sink used as you have suggested to the origin or the HP part since the website claiming to sell the stock heatsink heat, I decided to remove my HP Elite system and build a custom system.

I built a new system with a motherboard MSI Gaming 5 and 4790 k i7 processor and used the ram, power supply, SSD, GTX 750 ti and other components in my system HP Elite for my new build. All these elements I just mentioned were anyway under a year of age.  Of course, I had to spend money on a Windows 7 operating system at retail, but also a new case, but overall it was worth the money. I also think that in the end I started to the cultivate my HP and it was just time for me to upgrade.  Now, that I'll stay with custom desktops built and stay away with OEM computers due to the unusual limitations that the OEM wants to place on their systems.

Thanks again for all your help!
