  Do yourself a favor and remove the application.  Mac do not need AV applications and at best, they will be not hard (but not good either) and at worst will corrupt your system / OSX's built in protection.  Your concerns are malicious software that requires the cooperation of the user to install, not the virus.

  I have two laptops that were formerly running Windows 7 Professional Edition x 64 on a Server 2008 domain.   If you receive Windows Update error 80073712 0 x or 80073712, it means that a file needed by Windows Update is corrupted or missing. Windows has tools that can help you solve this problem of troubleshooting. I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

  Method 1: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

  • Run the Windows Update utility, then open Windows Update and try installing the update again.

  Method 2: Run the DISM tool

  1. Enter in the right edge of the screen and then click on search.
     (If you use a mouse, point to the lower right of the screen, move the mouse to the top and then click Find.)

  2. Enter command prompt in the search box.

  3. In the list of results, slide down on or right click command prompt, and then press or click Run as administrator.

  4. In the administrator: command prompt window, enter the following commands. Press ENTER after each command:

     DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

     DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

  5. To close the administrator: command prompt window, type Exit and press ENTER.

  6. Run Windows Update again.
