Update failed; -Input - Synaptics Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad. Error code indicated was 80240016. How can I get this update?

I can't get my screen to scroll my touchpad. I was trying to update my computer. Message window I said neede firstly to uninstall something before that I could install the update. I went to control panel and uninstalled the required item (I forgot what it was), but then the update failed... Synaptics five or six times, he failed. And I had already uninstalled the old program that allowed me to scroll my touchpad. I would like to regain this ability. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try a system restore to a Date before the problem began:

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

Download your drivers from the manufacturer's material.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.
