Update KB971644 fails repeatedly to install on Vista 32 bit system

Every day, I notified of an update recommended to my system, (update KB971644 in particular) and every day it fails to install. Sometimes I get an error message which is recommended to visit the homepage of Install Shield, but I get no response here. (the error code is no.-3). The update is only about 6 MB, and I know I have enough hard drive space. I tried to clear my cache, cutting off the firewall and even leave the virus protection software. Don't know what else to try to install this update! All other updates installed, and I have all the Vista service packs installed and running courses. Thank you.

A1. Yes, as much as you need at every update of safety critical other.

Note that the vulnerability being patched (e.g., MS12-004) requires KB2598479 and KB2631813 to install! IOW, your computer is still vulnerable to the exploit if if KB2631813 is not installed.

@ Ken... I tried installinng windows vista by using the recovery disk that will get a customer with the computer dell laptop... and then he was trying to install vista on my computer... It works fine when installing files, but it is and stucks where he says 'finish installation' and he won't do anything after that... I tried to restart my computer and I could see Microsoft coportation logo and then my computer stucks to this screen and wont connect in... not sure what exactly to do... by the ways for your reply thanks

You cannot use recovery discs to install with, if not for the exact model computer that you install.  You need a full installation detail of the model of Vista operating system you want to install since you don't downgrade your operating system to a system that offers no right of demotion.

    Hello

What is the exact error message received when the problem occurs?

    Methood 1:

Auditor of file system (CFS) scan to fix all of the corrupted system files. To do this, follow the steps in the following link:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2:

You can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists, see the link:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: See step 7; Reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting is performed.

    Method 3:

You can temporarily disable the security software and check if the problem occurs. Check out the following link to do the same thing:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you need more assistance.

I am currently working on a Vista 64-bit system and I don't seem to have all the drivers , that I had when I was running with a 32-bit Vista system. The Cloud Desktop App designer don't give you the option to install the program on a system, it is not compatible with, then that first (free 30 day trial)

When you go to install, be sure to turn off the 'remove older versions' under the advanced option, and you can keep whatever version currently installed at the same time.

    Hi Pleasantvalley,
Sometimes the third-party software may conflict with the installation of the updates of Windows.

Make first boot to ensure that all applications and software from third-party manufacturers are temporarily turns off and disable all security on the computer running software as well. Then try to install the updates of windows on the computer and check.

Note: Make sure you put the computer to a normal startup after a boot minimum troubleshooting and also allow all security software after a repair.
