  I don't know if this link is better. But you can try to download 5.7.1 from here and give it a try. A simple update like you supposed to be installed should not have caused any problem with serial number.

  Double-check that you have purchased.  It sounds like it could be a 1 year subscription that is not prudent to purchase (because you can get a 1 year subscription to adobe for lr and ps for $120 us.).
