Update of speed or to buy a new

Hello and thanks in advance. I have an iMac 2012 end with a processor of Intel Core i5 2.7 GHz and 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. I am constantly the beach ball, of slowness.  I use the iMac for processing (Pages and Word), spreadsheet Numbers and Excel with photos, research on internet, e-mail, calculations and two monitors. What is the best way to speed it up or get should I get new computer? If you think I should speed up what do I suggest? If you think I should get a new what's your suggestion? I also use a MacBook Air, but I don't let children to use Air, although the iMac is for family use.  I have no problem with my Air. Again, thank you.

Download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information.

  • update the iMac mid-2011 or buy a new one.

    Hi guys,.

I have an iMac 21.5 "mid 2011 with 12 Gb RAM. I was wondering if it was a good idea to override this model (installation of an SSD, etc.) or buying a new iMac.

I am not very happy with RAM soldered to the logic board of the new models 21.5 ". Load path Apple extra RAM too. Most users may not upgrade RAM or change SSDS by themselves, but, I'm a small part of those who like to modify and update my Mac, I like to do and not be restricted by a marketing strategy.

    However, what do you think?

Looking at the price of new iMacs, I would setup an SSD and more RAM if your iMac runs correctly. You will save money, and this computer will last you a few years without glitches.

However, if you feel that your iMac is not powerful enough for the tasks you do, go for a new iMac. As you say, Apple does not allow you to change anything (except installation RAM on iMac 27 inches), so buy the iMac with the amount of RAM and disk that meet your needs.

  • Updated Vista good together when buying new laptop

As far as I am informed buyers of a Toshiba laptop with preinstalled OEM Windows XP have a voucher to receive a license of Vista update for little money that it is proposed and discussed between Microsoft and OEM partners.

This is made possible, for those who buy a new laptop or desktop starting up this March 2007.with 26.10.2006 an OEM-version Windows XP pre-installed in order to offer these customers the option to boot with Vista Home Edition, Professional Edition, or Media Center Edition.
Is - this true message? If so, do the customers who bought this year earlier a Toshiba laptop, because they had to, also have a possibility to get this good?

    Hey John

I heard the same information on Vista credit notes.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=2006-09-Vista-capable-en

More I read somewhere on the net that all those who buy a new Windows XP Pro up to March 2007 can get a Windows Vista more or less for free.
But I put t know exactly if it of right.

I'm on the last update of lightroom 5 and captive capture still does not work with el Capitan. are there plans to upgrade or do I have to buy the new lightroom 6?

    Hi Yanni,

Tethered shooting works fine with Lightroom 6.4 on El Capitan.

You can then go ahead and buy Lightroom and perform the tethered shooting.

    Kind regards

  • I am running Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.5).  Do we not have to buy the new version if we have never updated?  Or we have the right to upgrade to the latest version.

I am running Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.5).  Do we not have to buy the new version if we have never updated?  Or we have the right to upgrade to the latest version.

I'm not really clear on the intent of your question.  If you can get the latest version you want to buy it.  When you go to buy, you should be able to see if it has an option to buy an update of the version you currently have.  I can't find the purchase page to check it out myself... I can only find the subscription option.

  • I'm on MAC OS 10.4.11 - older Using does not support Firefox - having to buy a new Mac to run the update to Firefox?

I use an old Mac 10.4.11 running tour. Firefox will not support this operating system after a while. Is not something I can install the new Mac OS (10.5) on this machine. There is some talk about installing Linux OS but takes me to the page Wikipedia of confusion.
So, do I need to spend the $$$ and buy a new Mac?

Firefox 3.6.x is the last available from Mozilla for PPC Macs. TenFourFox is your option only upgrade, if you want to stay with a browser that is based on the code of Firefox.

  • Should I buy a new iMac?

I currently have an iMac that I bought in February ' 08. It has 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I'm on OS 10.6.8.  I upgraded the memory a few years ago.  Things seem to become a little slow on this subject. We may need the latest version of numbers that supposedly requires OS X 10.10.4.  Should I buy a new iMac, or are there things I can do to improve and accelerate and hold remote buying a year or two?  If I buy an iMac, should I buy a new airport because my current one is almost as old as the Mac?

    Thank you

The airport should be fine, unless you have the intention to improve your Internet connection at Gigabit speeds... WiFi has not changed that much.

It's probably a good idea to consider a new Mac in the near future, however. This one is about the end of his life.

  • It is better to buy a new or fix the old one?

    Buy a new one:

    -New first price 1249 euros

How many years does he work?

-Old one on eBay... The best model for the cheapest price...

    To bring back to life:

My computer is an iMac since mid-2007 24 inches

-Find and buy the same hard driver because the former does not work anymore... (price?)

-Put 3 gigabytes of RAM for my computer and a person must be (price?)

    -OS X Snow Leopard 20 $

-Updated to the latest version of Leopard

    -OS X Lion 20 $

See if it works, maybe not...

How many years can he work?

Witch of the option is most interested? I live in Hong Kong on Lantau Island, so delivery are very expensive...

Only you can answer that question, but I'll be happy to give you my opinion.

    A. person cannot predict how long a new piece of electronics could last, last few years a lot (your iMac 2007) some last few.

    B. I bought two Macbooks off of eBay, was undesirable the other was great. When you use eBay is caveat emptor (buyer beware) you never know what you get and you will not have your money if it is not what you expect.

    C. While the replacement of the hard disk and ram are not particularly difficult jobs if you don't feel able to do labor costs could be high. RAM for a 2007 iMac will also be costly. Fully upgraded a 2007 iMac will be four versions behind and not taking in charge security updates.

If I were you I recycled this old iMac or sell as does not and investigate a refurbished iMac the Apple Online Store. They are completely renovated and carefully tested, come with a one year warranty and the extended Apple Care warranty purchase option and are sold at a discount.

Back up your library, update if necessary iTunes and sync the iPod. This will not normally remove anything from the iTunes library, but other things can.

Yes, it is better to update the old Mac EC.

Make sure that you back up the old Mac before the upgrade.

Note the application of some may require updated to work with CBS. To check see it:

Also, some devices may require updated drivers and for some devices such drivers do not exist.

  • Pavilion A6400f: Upgrade or buy a new

I can upgrade this computer or would it be better to buy a new one?

Everything depends on how it will be used.  The OS (Operating System) will need to be updated and it seems that your configuration would support the upgrade.  If it will be used for games or with heavy graphic based applications, so it might be a problem.  The graphics and audio are integrated to the motherboard and use the function system memory.  If the PC is just used for the basic things like e-mail or browse the web, update of the OS would be the least expensive way to go.  Remember that upgrading the operating system may also require legacy applications on the PC to upgrade also.  If you start to add up what needs to be updated, sometimes you will find it cheaper to buy a new.

  • Buy a new video graphics card

I buy Hp Pavilion p6640d desktop and I want to buy a new video card for games of todays title games. Like Battlefield 3.

I have no plans to replace my power supply 250w, for now. I've got a housing of extension for PCI x 16 - one that is available. I like the Nvidia card. My spec is

Intel Dual core, Pentium E6700 (Wolfdale) 3.2 GHz (65W), Windows 7 Ultimate 32. Guilty of windows 64-bit, 2 GB RAM

    • Socket 775, Foxconn EtonL-GL6, model H-IG41-Μatx., Intel G41 Express.
    • I also want to upgrade my processor CPU... eventually.
    • Thank you.

    Hello

If you intend to play good games with the addition of a new card, I do not recommend upgrade you the PSU, because if you want also to upgrade the processor later, is better that you update now the power SUPPLY first, not the video card and then the power supply. That's what I recommend to you, think of the power consumption of the additional card.

You think that your system works well because it is now, but you have an integrated card, adding a map, it will take x amount of Watts, so to be on the safe side, I recommend PSU upgrade first.

In any case, that's what I recommend you on NVIDIA:

    GeForce GT 610, (29Watts)

    GeForce GT 620, (49Watts)

    GeForce GT 630, (65Watts)

    GeForce GT 640, (65Watts)

    Hope this helps you.

    Thank you

  • Buy the new internal hard drive

    I have HP Pavilion dv4-1242TX

Recently, my original 320 GB (Western Digital Scorpio Blue - WD3200BPVT) internal hard drive crashed and become inadmissible.

So now I want to buy a new 500 GB internal hard drive, but I'm confused if my laptop it will support or not.

Internal hard drive WD Blue 500 GB laptop computer (WD5000BPVT / WD5000LPVX)

    MAIN FEATURES

Other than the size, I see no difference between the two discs.  Just having the Recovery DVD set available and install the new drive, run the set of recovery and off you go.  If the old drive is toast, there's nothing else to do than to run the updates from Microsoft.

Or install Windows 7, commercial version of your choice.

  • Buy a new computer with Windows XP

I currently own a desktop computer that now requires to be updated for memory (softwrae sape memory!).  I don't want the hassle to change everything (I want to be able to transfer any form my computer to a new computer seamlessly) so my question is can I still buy a computer with Windows XP rather than having to upgrade to Windows 7?  Thank you.

    Yes and no.

In the body of your message, your question has been:
I can always buy a computer with Windows XP
The answer is Yes. Here again, it will take a used computer. If you close this doing, I would spend no more than $175 on this subject. Make sure that it comes from a reliable source and has a license to run Windows XP as well as accessories sticker certificate of authenticity to this topic. There are also the seller will give you the means to reinstall Windows, preferably an authentic Windows XP installation CD.
To answer the question in your subject line, the answer is no.
For what it's worth, there's nothing wrong with buying a new PC which has Windows 7. There is a transfer assistant that you can use that will make the process easier. If you find it's too hard, find a qualified technician. Do not forget that you would still need to transfer files from your old XP PC to your XP PC to a little more recent opportunity, too (if this is the option you choose)! It is not as transparent as you hope. :-(
    Or...
Maybe you can get two years out of your current PC (might as well as extended Support for XP will last for two more years). If so, we can help you with your memory most likely problem. Let us know. If so, we will need to know the make, model and model number of the PC and how much RAM is installed.
