Update the Configuration failed on Windows Vista when the computer was closed prematurely at sea
My son turned off the computer before the update of configuration was complete. It uses a Compaq Vista premium desktop computer. The operating system will not load (it is stuck in a loop trying to reconfigure the old settings before the update). We have tried to start in Mode safe mode and do a system restore. The first available date is November 15, when the update occurred. System Restore got the point to finalize and then jammed (lasted at least 4 hours). Any suggestions other than a complete system to recharge?
Hi DRoggeman,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Forums.
I suggest you to do the Startup Repair to fix boot of startup problem and uninstall all updates you have installed.
Reinstall or install updates for your computer by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
To perform the Startup Repair, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.
1. Insert the installation disc.
2. restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note
If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
5. click on repair your computer.
6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.

If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

problems with wireless Vista "local only".
How is it that some machines running windows vista, when the router is updated or changed, they show "limited or local only" when you then reconnect wireless... nothing else was changed on those computers and other devices can connect ok?Hello
Each router is assigned to the specific address (called IP address or IP address). And each router maintains its own database (called as base of router) to follow the networking devices communicate with him. Updates and original installation of Windows Vista
Hello
Try to update an old PC with windows vista on it (this isn't my pc)
I formatted the hard drive and used the original disc that came with it to install vista, but that's before any service pack.
What do I have to wait for the hundreds of updates to happen, or can I go and install my downloaded pre the SP1 and then SP2?
Thank you
Hello
I did so many times in this way without any problems.
Reinstall Vista > install SP1, SP2, then > and then get the rest updates.
If you encounter problems with SP records, use it to download again.
Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.
It will also tell you which SP you have installed.
Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.
Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
Vista SP1 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

Hello KenricLow,
Try this to see if you can connect.
Boot to safe mode.To access Safe Mode:
(a) restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
(b) select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.
(c) when the boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.Of in safe mode, type msconfig in the start in the start menu search box and press return. Then on the Startup tab, uncheck the box any reference to the verisign/authentec software. Then, go to the services tab, sort the columns by manufacturer, then uncheck all references to Verisign. Then click ok and restart in normal mode.
If please reply back and let us know if that helped to turn out to get rid of your error message.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

I have windows vista on this computer and I want to remove it and add windows xp.
I have Windows Vista on this computer and I want to remove it and replace it with Windows XP Professional. Whenever I tried to do, I succumbed. I tried to just boot from the cd and install xp and it tells me that the version on the computer is newer than the one I am trying to install and then gives me no option besides. I left and I restarted in safe mode and the command propt tried to fdisk and he said no authorized for this. When I try to format it is said that volume id and I don't know who. I've never been so lost trying to remove a platform in my life. I would like to have an answer to this problem, thanks and have a blessed day, Robin
Hi Robin,
· What is the type of disc you are having? It's a drive to upgrade or full version?
· How many partitions are present on the computer?
· Why would you downgrade from Windows Vista to Windows XP?
You need demarrer start from the installation disc, choose the partition where Windows is installed (ideally the C drive). Format it and then go to the Windows XP installation.
Let us know if you need more assistance.

I want to re install Windows Vista on my computer but I forgot my password to connect.
I want to reinstall windows vista on my computer but I forgot my password to connect. It comes to my personal computer. I tried to insert the disc, but it will be without automatic operation even if the computer is restarted. How can I get around this?
original title: Reinstall vistaIf you don't lose all the files you created (such as documents or images) and the insrtallation CD or DVD or can download all programs to add after installing Windows in:
Insert the Vista DVD into the DVD drive and boot the computer. Press a key when promptewd to start the computer from the DVD. Facilities to remove the present partitions. Install Windows to the HD.
If the computer does not display a toboot option from the DVD it starts, you need to enter in the BIOS as the machine starts up and change the setting for the first device to boot to the DVD player. Save the changes and exit. Now, return to paragraph 2 above.
Press a few keys to access the BIOS varies according to the version of the BIOS. More frequent are: DEL or F2 or F10. On some machines you can press F12 instead, and it will take you directly to a boot menu.
Good luck.

The printer status window Interface stopped working and was closed. How can I fix it?
When I try to print I get the following message from Microsoft Windows: Printer Status window Interface stopped working and was closed. A problem with the application to stop functioning properly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.
I have never received a Windows solution. Once I have selected an email or other document to print and then click on print, nothing happens. I then log out of windows and then reopen in an and the document will be printed.
How can this problem be fixed?
Hi all!
This is usually resolved with a driver updated from the manufacturer.I highly recommend updating the driver to see if that takes care of the issue. If you need help, find the driver for your printer, please provide the make and model and I will do my best to find the right one for you.Thank you for using Microsoft Answers!Cody C
