  I work with documents several pages that have been created by someone else in CS3 and then I convert it into CS5. Several times when I tried to update the table of contents, all text in the document disappears. All the objects to hold their positions and nothing else changes except that there is no visible text.   I found that when I try to uncheck the slides that I don't want to not show in the table of contents (about 190 slides in the 200 in a project) Captivate crashes with a fatal mistake and I lose any unsaved work.  I had to uncheck about 10 boxes at a time, close the table of contents and save but it is very time consuming.  Is there a way to uncheck all of the slides by default and select just those I want to appear?  Y at - it a fix for the bug fatal error?

  Whenever I try to record on a DVD a face "could not retrieve the table of contents.

  I tried to change the recording speed, but no use.

  When I go to properties of DVD and click on activate record it does not recognize the DVD or any CD in the drive.

  1. what software to use to burn cd/dvd discs? Try using Nero, Ashampoo burning studio, alcohol CD and DVD software of engraving,

  In the InDesign interface, you can select your table of contents and simply click on the TOC of layout update page to update.  Is this possible with a script or what I need to recreate table of contents by using the document.createTOC () method?  It's that I don't see in the object model.

  I have a book with 33 chapters, and each has its own table of contents.  All tables have been set up, I just need to be updated so that they have the correct page number.

  You looked in the right place, but may have overlooked this:

  CreateTOC history painting (using the: TOCStyle [, replacing: boolean = false] [, fromBook:Book] [, included: table of number] [, includeOverset:bool = false] [, destinationLayer: Layer])

  Your table of contents is pulling one or more Styles (probably the stars) paragraph of the document. Add the new article he style identical to existing sections (same paragraph Styles), then update the table of contents (right click anywhere in it and choose to update Table of contents).   Hello I would like to know if anyone can help understand me how to format Table of contents entries to include a prefix.

  I want to each chapter entry in my table of contents to include the prefixes of words Chapter 1, Chapter 2... etc.

  For example. Just to say that my first chapter is called "aseptic".

  Currently the aseptic 'A technical' chapter title is formatted with a paragraph style called "chapter title", and this paragraph style is included in the "Styles of Table of contents.

  So for the moment my OCD simply shows the words "One Technique aseptic" followed by the page number.

  I want that entry of table of contents to say: "Chapter 1 asepsis.

  But I don't want the words "Chapter 1" to appear on the title page of actual chapter. "»

  Also, I want to be able to add unique style to the prefixes (I guess with character styles). So that I can make the "Chapter 1"style a little differently to "Aseptic", while both appear on the same line.

  Is it possible to do? I know that I can just click on the table of contents, and then make the changes directly, but it's not ideal because if I click on "update the Table of contents" then all changes are lost. I want the added prefixes dynamically so that they remain in place even if chapter headings are changed in the future.

• Error JavaScript prevents the table of contents, Index, search view

  I produced my RoboHelp HTML project webhelp and got an error javascript (this.maCom [...] (' is null or not an object) when you view the result. See the full error text below. So the table of contents, index and search are not displayed. We'll find the javascript error in the status bar of the browser that says "error on page". I found that if I saw the result of robohelp, the browser that launched shows the table of contents, index and search, but has a security warning about a restriction of running scripts or ActiveX controls. However, when I move the generated webhelp on my production server, the help doesn't have the security warning, but produces the error so that the table of contents, index and search do not show. I had done the same process to generate webhelp about 8 months ago but had no error whatsoever. In fact, this version is still in production and works very well.

  In my search for the problem, I found that it is the same error as message of the forum 4063663 (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4063663). I didn't have a second system with RoboHelp to be able to get other whphost.js, however, I have diff had the file generated with that found in template_stock and found only two different lines. These differences were only to replace a couple of variables with static text so I do not replace this file will solve any problem for me. That is the message of only forum I could find who addressed this issue.

  I was originally on RoboHelp 8.0.0 when I first encountered the problem, but has expanded and patched to version 8.0.2 and still had the same problem. I even created a new simple project. Once I moved the simple project on the production server, it also would display the table of contents, index and search.

  The strange thing is that only 8 months ago, I used the same process to generate webhelp without any errors (on 8.0.0). The only thing I can find is there is a Windows XP patch which affected the generation of webhelp. Furthermore, I also tried chrome and also produces the error.

  I don't know what is causing this problem or how to solve the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

  After further research and testing, I found the update of security for RoboHelp 8 and 9 (http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-23.html) posted as an ad that I had not seen before. I used the feature updates of the product, but that said I was informed and did not include this update.

  Both javascript in this update files solve the problem. The table of contents, index and search now appear.

  As I studied the problem further (when writing this reply), I found files that are newer than the latest security patches, I was aware of that. In addition, I discovered that my security organization decided to patch with APSB12-04 I don't know. This patch is why my 8.0.0 installation magically stop working.   Make 2 toc styles. One for the entries in the Bookmarks panel, you can generate a table of contents on the side of any page, and you must score in its definition to create bookmarks and other things that you use to build the table of contents for the visible part of your document to print. This should have unchecked the option create a bookmark in its definition.

  I couldn't find this anywhere in help. The only time where it says link a bookmark to a table of contents was if you have used the feature of automatic creation of your table of contents.

  I think I figured out how do it, but wanted to run it by the forum to see if this is right.

  This is how it is done?

  1. Add a new page to the table of contents.
     1. Enter a title.
     2. The file name, choose the topic that contains the bookmark.
     3. Click OK to save. Your page should appear in the table of contents.
  2. Right-click on the page, table of contents, that you just created. The Table of Contents Page Properties window opens.
  3. At the bottom of the page, where it says "link to", add # and the name of the bookmark at the end.

  For example, if your subject appears in the form Entering_a_New_Customer.htm and the bookmark is called address, you would add #address the end of the filename. Gives you a link to Entering_a_New_Customer.htm #address

  Is there another way to do it? In this way requires two steps and requires that you know the name of the bookmark; You can't navigate to it.

• Bookmarks does not work in the table of contents

  I have a RH 9 HTML project that was created by importing of Word documents. Each Word document has become a level 1 in the table of contents, and level of heading 2s and 3s became bookmarks in the headings, then sub-levels in the table of contents. HR, when I click on an item in the table of contents created from a bookmark, it appears section open. But when generating a CHM, clicking on anything underneath the heading level 1 only open the title of level 1 - it does not jump to the desired under level 1 area.  This TOC works in HR 7.

  These bookmarks have spaces? If so, change a couple to remove the spaces and try again.

• Script errors in the table of contents in RoboHelp 9

  Hello, all. I can usually find the solution to my problem by searching for existing threads, but I can't seem to find a solution this time. I recently upgraded to RoboHelp 7 to 9.0.2.271. I published WebHelp locally and checked the files in to a Team Foundation Server to be deployed in a test environment. Locally and on the QA site, the output seems fine for me and the table of contents works as expected. However, other users on Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (I have IE8) are getting script errors when you try to click on the pages of the table of contents.

  I compressed my files the and dropped on a shared and player asked a user to copy on his machine and open the start with his browser page. He always gets the script errors, while another user can open locally without any problem. This makes me think that the problem is not in RoboHelp files themselves, but I'm not sure.

  To further complicate things, in this environment, another server of QA, the table of contents and Index are empty! This is obviously a separate issue, but I'm stumped. This problem occurs in IE 6, 7 and 8. It does NOT occur in Firefox or IE 9.

  Any ideas?

  If the table of contents/Index/Search does not work in IE7/8/9 via HTTPS, try the following steps

  1. Go to https://acrobat.com/#d=WqbdTq-2R79ToU08-zfBEw
  2. Download the IESearchIssue.zip file. Unzip it.
  3. It will create an IESearchIssue folder. It has two subfolders
     1. RH8.0.2
     2. RH9.0
  4. If you use RoboHelp 8.0.2, go to the folder RH8.0.2.
  5. If you use RoboHelp 9.0, navigate to the folder RH9.0
  6. Navigate to the \RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock folder and rename the file whutils.js in whutils.js.bak
  7. Now, paste the new whutils.js already copied into the same folder.
  8. Now again generate webhelp output the required project.
  9. Host it on your server and check if it works.

  Try to remove the numbering of paragraph TOC style options. I am sure that what is happening is to make a numbered list on the table of contents entries AND pick up the existing numbers in the text.
