Tip: Ideally, you would never, EVER use system restore to 'Cancel' an update, Service Pack, or upgrade of IE! Instead, uninstall the update, Service Pack, or the IE patch & reboot. If that does not resolve the problem, then try System Restore.

Tip: Should choose a good Restore Point will leave you with a "restore incomplete. Your computer cannot be restored... "error, see http://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.html

    Hi Scouty7,

    1. perform the updates always installation?
2 you cannot stop the laptop?
    3. do you get an error at startup of the system?

Given the many updates installed on the computer, it is recommended to wait for the updates are installed successfully. Force reboot or stopping manually in the middle of the installation of updates can cause system start to fail.

  • Windows XP SP3 with IE8 installed/uninstalled several times

original title: Windows XP SP3 with IE8 installed.

During the last week, I had 3 systems of Windows XP with SP3 & IE8 installed for service & and/or repairs. Update of Microsoft in the last week has been remove IE8 only to install IE8 again. Anyone can shed some light on why?

    (1) all XP operating systems are 32-bit.

    (2) IE8 was downloaded Microsoft as an installation for XP 32 bit offline.

    (3) IE8 has been properly installed on all occasions.

    (4) Microsoft update removes installed IE8 then causes other updates to fail, restart the PC and then to reinstall IE8.

    (5) frustrating - so I do not install IE8 at this stage - allow update of Microsoft to provide the service.

  • MSXML 4.0 sp3 will not install on windows vista 32-bit

I am owner of a HTC Desire HD and as part of the package with the HTC sync software they require MSXML 4.0 SP3 must be installed. Setup extracts and installs until the 'product information' then he told me that an error occurred while installing (well words to that effect). Then I tried to download the software directly from yourself and the same failure occurs. Any ideas how to solve my problem? Thank you

    Hello

I suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Step 1:

I suggest you to check if the Windows Installer Service runs in the Services.msc window.

    a. Click Start; In the start search, type Services.msc and press to enter.
    b. right-click on Windows Installer and click on Start (only if the Service is stopped).

    Step 2:

Put your computer in a clean boot State, and are trying to install. Start your computer in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Step 3:

Also follow the steps in the article.

Windows update installation update 4 of 5 for 2 hours and did not finish.  28/10/10

    Hi Mandude,

What Windows version\edition you run the computer?

Step 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...) Except the mouse and keyboard > check if installation of update takes place more quickly

Step 2: You can follow the steps mentioned in the article below, which deals with a similar question

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

  • Lose the ability to access Internet after Windows updates published in the last 24 hours

I lose the internet connection if I install the Windows updates published in the last 24 hours.  I have had access to the internet after restoring to a restore point.   I was able to recreate this problem be reinstall them again.

    Update the example is KB2121546

    Manually install a - alone.
    Reset.

    Still have Internet?

Manually install the next one, one.
    Reset.

    Still have Internet?

Repeat this until you lose Internet or have installed all updates - what comes first.  If you lose Internet - uninstall that one and install all others (using the same one at a time - at the most method you will have 8-9 for this cycle) then come here and let everyone know what update was kill your Internet connection.

Why?  An update of the example is of no help.  There are 9 updates you could possibly have * if * you were aware through yesterday.  Knowing the SPECIFIC update that is causing your problem would be better for you and those who help you.

  • Forced iOS updates. Please, give us 24 hours notice, at least!

I don't know if everyone Apple actually monitors these communities, but just in case they do...

It would be wonderful if you guys would allow delayed updates iOS forced at least 24 hours.

This would allow those of us on the portable very limited, expensive, base data plans for access to a public library or another free WiFi access point.
Rather than having our allocation of scarce data completely trashed for the month.

It's certainly not too much to ask?

Moreover, the community as a whole...
Is there anyway to know when Apple is about to apply an update, at least one day in advance?
If you want to know this, we could at least turn the power off until we get to another WiFi access point.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Windows XP SP3 will not install and repeatedly keep trying with Windows Update

I've had two months of problems with Windows 7 and had to build a Windows XP machine. I installed Windows XP Pro SP2 on the clean machine and tried to install SP3 I had downloaded and put it on a CD. Installation backed up the existing files and install the new files. The installer said he was changing the registry. After that the installer said that there was an error, a file is not found. Then uninstalled and restored the old files. Keeps Windows Update downloaded a stream of updates (as you would expect with a clean install), but at the end of installation of the batch that is being updated is in SP3 update running. Whenever the SP3 update is executed, it gets to the same point, fails because it cannot find a file and UN-installs itself again. The indices of anyone? It's a real Microsoft Windows XP Pro out of the box, not an OEM.

    Hi guenoun,.

The message I received installation of SP3 was "System cannot find the file requested" with no error code. As I was installing a SP3 at the start of a CDROM created from the uploaded image of CDROM I thought it was unlikely that the CDROM was corrupt or missing files. So, I went in Mode safe mode and use the account administrator. SP3 installed then OK (it took more time than installing Windows XP). I then checked the updates, and although Windows Update has been updated about 10 new updates flooded down. So problem solved. It must have been one of these security issues where be a user with administrative privalges was not enough.

    Kind regards
    Tony

  • Update Vista stuck on installing update 4 of 7 for 2 hours

During a normal shutdown, I got the message updates were insalled (Vista Home Premimum).  For two hours, I was stuck on the installation of updagte 4 of 7.  How should I proceed.  Power off, to let him stay or what?  If I turn it off, which option to choose on a reboot?

    klh1955,
If you are still having this problem, then normally choose the boot option and see if it will fill or load normally.  If you enter Windows and not all updates have been installed, you can install the updates one at a time and see if one of them is having a problem.

  • Stuck at installing updates 1 of 26

I'm stuck on the screen that says "do not turn off or unplug the machine, install update 1 of 26" it has been like that for 4 hours.

    Chode_Muncher,
That suggested Andre, that's when you go into Windows Update, you can choose to display updates are available.  In the list, you can then select the updates to install.  You must then select only 2 or 3 then restarts once they have installed.  Repeat this process until all updates are installed.
