Update win 8 portable to a new SSD

I have a Samsung ativ book 7 ultrabook with windows pre-installed 8 and no cd drive.  I want to improve the msata SSD 128 GB for a 480 GB ssd crucial msata.

The process or what free software can I use to migrate win 8 to the new SSD.  I need the option of standard factory under windows settings reset 8 to continue to operate after the migration.

Note, that I saw a few posts on download of iso retail copies win 8, then use the product key, but I know that won't work as my laptop has preinstalled windows 8 on it, not a retail version.  I know the support of Samsung will not help me either, I tried.

I'm ready to buy an external enclosure usb 3.0 to migrate my victory msata 8 but I don't want to spend more money than that (it is why software acronis came out because only the paid version will migrate).

Thank you.

    Hello

Having a few issues with the victory 8 DVD pro included with my laptop.

BIOS is set as UEFI + secure boot, win 8 pro dvd starts and I can start recovery, after a while, he asks disc 2 and starts to recover win 8.

After completion and reboot, it does not start and shows just the toshiba logo.

Factory hdd with SSD OCZ VERTEX 4 is replaced by the bios.

    What could be the problem?

    > Drive HARD factory is replaced with SSD OCZ VERTEX 4 recognized by the Bios.

You have the same start-up problems 8 win using the original HDD equipped Tecra R950?

From my point of view, it would be possible that this laptop does not start successfully because of the new SSD.

I recommend you check the previous HARD disk.
If the laptop could start correctly, the problem is related to the new SSD drive.

In some cases, it would be possible that the SSD firmware must be updated.

  • Can I clean install on HP vista 32 to Win 7 Professional 64 with new ssd dv3

    Can someone tell me please

    I have 2 questions:

1: if I enter new SSD in my pavilion dv3, running on vista 32-bit, can I then install new version recently purchased windows 7 Professional 64-bit instead of 32 bit installation, or should it be 32-bit. ?

2: I printed a Wiindows 7 upgrade report and it says that my processor is: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU [email protected] with 3 GB of memory and it says my upgrade options are 32-bit windows 7 Home premium or ultimate. This does not change and will it work with the professional version, because it will be a clean install on a new ssd?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Hello:

    The T6500 is a 64-bit processor.

As a result, you should have no problem upgrade from Vista 32 bit to W7 64-bit.

You must start from the W7 x 64 installation DVD.  You cannot run it from a 32-bit windows desktop.

When you get to the install window now and click Next, the upgrade option will be grayed out.

You must perform a custom (clean) installation when moving from a 32-bit to a 64-bit operating system.

I'm not quite sure on why it is said that you cannot move to W7 Pro if you can upgrade to W7 Ultimate.

Ugggh.  I have a 27-inch iMac late 2011 and the hard drive was updated with a new SSD.  The integrated cd/dvd had to be taken out.  I then bought a thought of superdrive, it should work.  It's frozen on my iMac!  Gee, who could have possibly guessed that would happen?  I tried all kinds of silly workarounds, I found on the internet, but still it will not register the stack of DVDs and other discs I have.

If you're like me and upgraded your iMac that came with a cd/dvd drive internal... so he has to come out to give way to the fusion or the SSD drive, do NOT buy the apple superdrive.  It will work with your computer!

Think I'll get a laptop samsung...

Ironic, isn't it? Own Apple SuperDrive will not work with Apple computers. Shame you don't check here first that we would have warned you. Return Apple overpriced and buy a nice third-party player for a third of the price. I love the LG units. You can consider a loading plate because they are more reliable, and you can use these pesky disc when you get one.

I would use minitool partition manager to clone the disk partition & 100 MB windows C if your installation.

Works well in general & used for this task a lot. Use the partiton options rather than SSD clone will enable driving a complete copy of all of the source to the target SSD. Don't delete anything since! TB until what you tested SSD clone A1.

  • I bought a pc that has win7 ultimate installed... updated ive made a new installation of a new ssd, don't know what previous version of windows was on the system before

How do ifind what version of windows I had before it has been upgraded to win 7 ultimate? I have had this for 1 year (bought secondhand) no probs, just updated my pc and installed a new and it does not accept the cd key? If it wasn't authentic I questions since I use first, so why question now?

Please help as I can't be bothered giving microsoft £130 for the inconvenience
I just go through the most popular versions and see if I have the chance? or are there easier ways to detect previous versions?
    Thank you

The only way to know is to contact the original owner or check the chassis of the machine to see if there is a certificate of Authenticity sticker attached to it. It will identify which edition an original version of Windows is preinstalled on the machine:

    COA certificate of authenticity:

If you do not, you may have to invest in a full version license.

  • Fresh install of Windows 8 the new SSD and Windows update found 127 updates and they failed with error code 80248007

I've been struggling for weeks to try to get my computer Windows 7 update to Windows 8.1. It is not interesting to go in full history frustrating because I gave the update and now I just try to start over again. The recent measures and current situation is as follows:

1 PC is powerful enough with i7 and 16 GB chip.

    2. new SSD this week.

    2. freshly downloaded Windows 8 Pro ISO burned to a DVD and checked.

3 Ran install successfully and signed using my Microsoft Account.

4 tried Windows Store for Windows 8.1, but said I need updates.

4 Ran Windows Update in Control Panel.

    5. Windows update found 127 updates and they failed with error code 80248007.

I don't understand how I can get these failures with a new facility.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

    Hello

Glad you got it going... If I had to guess, it was very likely updates .net 3.5, which has caused the problem... or maybe, Net 4.5...

They require a process runs to complete their installation that seems to start running in the middle of updates remaining to try to install...

  • Install Win 7 on new SSD, DV7t-3000

    Hi all

I just bought a new SSD 60 GB for my Pavilion dv7t.  I would like to install Windows 7 on SSD for fast loading times, etc.  However, the player is only 60 GB, and not the drive of 300 GB the OS is currently on.

Because these computers were not shipped with the OS installation disc, it seems that I have to make a recovery disk.  I read that for these to work, the drive that you get should be of equal size or larger than the original drive.

I'm near the top of the proverbial Creek on that?  I can't imagine that HP would limit it like that.  No way I can afford a 300 GB HDD anyway!  Is it possible to install the OS I paid on my new drive?

Thanks for all the help.  Enjoy your week.

    -Matt

Laptop recovery disks does not require the same hard drive (size), however, there may be minimum hard disk size requirement.

Why not do a set of recovery discs anyway (might be useful in case of any problem hard drive). Replace the hardware with the new SSD and try the system with the disk recovery? Keep the original for a while hard disk, however, may use it as the 2nd drive.

  • HP Pavilion dv2620ca with Vista (32 bit) - upgrade to Win 8 on a new SSD

I'm considering upgrading the laptop indicated in the subject line.  It runs very slowly and I don't like Vista.  I have a new SSD I want to use as the target for the upgrade, but have heard there are problems with the activation key when you try to upgrade old drive to a new drive rather than overwring NLE.  What someone know how to do this or can point me to a link with the steps.

    Thank you

To answer your questions of synthesis:

    1. If Microsoft upgrade wizard has not shown the compatibility of all hardware drivers, you can install Windows 8. However, please do not expect an improvement in performance on Vista due to the hardware configuration.

    2. the option that you have is the way the more echonomic to Windows 8.

  • Free upgrade first or install new SSD first?

Is it better to first make free update Win 7 to 10 then again clone SSD or Cloner 7 to the SSD then upgrade? If I want to do a clean install of 10 can I do this and use the installation 7 product ID number?

You should not be cloning everything that duplicates all even possible bad sectors on the hard drive

You create a system image in place and restore this image on the new SSD

You can also use this image of the system if you win 10 is average to unstable to be reliable

  • Upgrade of equipment and went from XP to Win7 - how do I transfer/install CS5 on the new SSD?

I've recently updated the workings of my computer; new mobo, Samsung SSD (solid state drive), CPU and ram. Continued XP Pro Windows 7 Pro with Win 7 Pro now residing on the new solid state drive. I still have the old 1 TB Serial ATA hard drive connected as a storage device, and that is CS5. But of course my CS5 applications are now unusable.

Can someone please give me some advice on how to transfer the old HD (XP Pro) CS5 installation for the new SSD (Win 7 Pro)? I started to do some research and reading on the first "off-setting" CS5, but I can't open any of my CS5 applications to 'disable '. So I'm puzzled. I am reluctant to try a new installation of my disks in CS5, until I learn the regular procedure...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
