Windows 7 - cannot get updates for Office 2003
After hours of talking on the phone, I turn on these forums for help.
I have Windows 7 x 64 Professional with all current updates. I also have MS Office 2003.
While I am able to receive and update the operating system, I get no prompt or suggested updates for Office 2003. From Office 2003 and then clicking on "Help/Check for Updates ' do nothing. Interesting is going to 'Control Panel/system and security/Windows Update' and then clicking on "get updates for other Microsoft products...". To learn more"anything also.
My question: I use Firefox exclusively and I was wondering if IE is required to activate these functions? Currently, I have disabled and is not installed.

Yes.

HOW TO activate features Windows turn on or off
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-features-on-or-offYou can not uninstall IE8 on Windows 7, but you can disable access to it (for example, to disable IE8). Similarly, you cannot reinstall IE8 in Windows 7, but you can reactivate access to him (i.e., turn on IE8).
If it's a Win7 64-bit computer, you have two versions of IE8: IE8 64 bit (the default) and IE8 32 bit. See this previous discussion: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/babaa5f8-ff06-4ea2-aef6-a9416d65f981

The security update for office 2003 on my XP (SP3) kept failing throughout the last week. I contacted the support of MS PC security by phone and I was transferred from the Department the installation program office at Department of update of security for customer service. And none of them had no idea of what is the problem. I lost patience with MS is supported. I followed some other technique posted on the web for the same question and tried to uninstall office 2003 and re - install. However my new installation of office 2003 meets the following error (same error I got when I tried to apply the security updates)
"Error 2932: an internal error has occurred."
(C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{91E30409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9)\graph.ico 131)
Contact the Services de Support technique Microsoft (PSS) for assistance. »After the Installer rolls back all the facilities. Now I find myself with no office 2003 (I tried office 2007 install with the same result).
I would really appreciate it if other users can help you with a fix for this or MS support engineer.
My desktop is hp pavilion PC under XP (SP3).
Finally, I was able to get good support from Microsoft. A Microsoft support engineer remotely connected to my machine and was able to fix the installation/update directories corrupted microsoft who were at the origin of the problem. I managed to install office with success and things are back to normal. I had given up hope after my original support request (2 weeks back) and the first experience with the customer. But MS technical support engineers (the less one that helped me yesterday) seem to have a good idea of what was going on and was able to solve my problem quickly. Thank you MS support

OK, so I just had to re - install Windows 7 on my laptop due to a disk failure (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and hit a brick wall with trying to turn on Microsoft Updates instead of Windows updates.
I try to click on the link "Learn more" on the bottom of the page to update on the line "Get updates for other products Microsoft." and it opens just a web page with a graphic telling me to open my Start menu and click on Windows updates.
Catch 22 is that Windows Update has no options for anything other than Windows. He won't find the updates for the office or any of the other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.
Exactly what I am missing, and where has Microsoft moved the activation of Microsoft Updates page too, because when I click on the link need me to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 that makes a whole lot of nothing.
Thank you!

Install the update for office 2003 KB2289187 security
Whenever I start my computer, I learned that the KB2289187 update is ready to be installed. However, when I click OK to install it fails to install. If I can't install is there a way I can stop it tells me that it has to wait for the installation.
Yes, there are simply some updates may not be installed or that affect some computers.
There is a feature to 'hide' the update so it nags is no longer the user.
the hide feature has been added for vista and win7.
but I think you have to go to the update site itself to hide or show updates for xp.
If I remember, simply leave the site scan your computer for available updates,
then when she gives you a list of them, the possibility to choose and hide one of them will be provided on the Web page.

First uninstall only MS Office Professional Edition 2003 (which should automatically remove the "one" and probably BCM 2003).

The malicious software removal tool does not use an installer. As a general rule, when you run the malicious software removal tool, it creates a temporary directory named at random on the root of the drive of the computer. This directory contains several files, and it includes the Mrtstub.exe file. Most of the time, this folder is automatically deleted after the tool to the end of execution or the next time that you start the computer. However, this folder may not always be automatically deleted. In these cases, you can manually delete this file, and this has no adverse effect on the computer.
Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.

My system is XP SP3. I have MSOffice 2003 SP3. I have 28 updates for Office that won't install after many attempts and a "FixIt" run or two from Microsoft. That this has something to do with the .net framework 4.0 or something? I used Windows update, and then update Microsoft, all this without success.
If the fixit does not resolve the problem, read the article:

Hi Loubag,
1. What is the exact error that you receive when you try to install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Office?
I suggest you try the following steps:
Step 1: Manually download the update from the link of download below and then try to install it
Description of Office 2003 Service Pack 3
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/923618
Save the update on the Office
Step 2: Temporarily disable this security software on the computer
Right click the security software on the notification in the taskbar area and disable it.
If this option is not available, you can check the documentation provided by the manufacturer of your anti-virus program to disable.
Important: Activate the security software once everything is done.
Now, try to install the update saved on the desktop, let me know if it works or you need help.
Thank you, and in what concerns:
