Updates recent vs list of updates installed; Apparent discrepancy

About the updates that are installed automatically and I have to choose and install, all seem to appear on the list of recent updates and are marked "successful."  Yet, all are on the list of installed updates.  This week I installed IE9 and something else; IE9 only appear on the list of installed updates.  In addition, Windows installed an update today which is not on the list of installed updates.  How can I find out if a facility has BEEN indeed successful if it is not in the list of installed updates?  (I am aware that some updates require stopping and restarting; I do it when necessary if it does not happen automatically.  Who didn't make a difference in the case of updates mentioned above, who does NOT come to the list of installed updates.)  I have not checked this before, so I don't know if it's still that way, or simply in these cases.  Y at - it an explanation for this apparent contradiction?

Good on you! Looking forward to your follow-up on it.

  • can't see installed updates_says no updates installed (windows on_off list also empty features)

I installed windows 7 ultimate (32 bit) on three new Vostro (I - 5) machines and all the updates and software that we use. Then Windows Update list says "no installed updates" and features Windows on_off list was empty. To i.d. the problem I reinstalled win 7 ulimate (32 bit) and all of our programs on one of the new computers. After every installation or Windows Update, I checked Windows Update/Installed Updates list and the list of windows features and all the elements included (visible). When most of the installation path through the updates to ArcGis 9.3.1 a flag came who said two critical windows updates were available. We stop at installation of ArcGis for windows of the road updates. After you run the windows updates XML Core Services 4 SP2 (KB973688) and an update of security for the same (KB954430) I went back to check the windows update list and he said "no updates installed on this computer" also, nothing has been shown and list of windows features box was empty. Tried to roll back to a previous time, but that doesn't seem to work. Automatic update still seems to work, but we cannot see the list so that we can remove individual updates... What is happening and what can be done, any ideas, thank you.

I thought that I should let one more message for anyone after that because I think that the problem is solved. I googled on the number 'KB973688' and "Arcgis 9.3.1" update it lead me to a thread that has referenced the following urlhttp://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=93&f=1148&t=287391#902480 . It offers a solution to change the registry size limit. It seemed risky, but it worked all updates are now visible and windows features on_off shows what should be. Two updates came back and auto installed but now did the damage. They do not appear on the list of Windows Update, but the rest don't. Maybe install Arcgis was the culprit

  • Update May 13/14 breaks SFC and "Updates" installed list

The last round of updates of 13/14 may created serious problems for my Win7 SP1 box.

After the first round of updates (KB2965237, etc.) successfully installed, I came home 2 hours later to my monitors still on.  Power settings turn off after 20 minutes at idle.  Tried to reboot, BSOD.  I've never seen a BSOD, I only know that he was there since the event logs, after that I brought the system up.  He just hung when stopping down.

Now, I have not SFC to try to fix anything, because "Windows Resource Proetection could not perform the requested operation."

I can't uninstall the updates, because the list of installed updates said: "there are no updates installed on this computer.

And try to use the system restore produces a crash.

Brilliant, guys.  If it's more "prepare me for windows 10" *, I'm going to be * very * annoyed.  But I'll rant about how Windows Express upgrade works later.

Anyone has any bright ideas (in addition to recreate the image, which is tempting looking anyway)?

  • Update installed KB2844285 but continues to appear in updates

    Hello

I have a Dell Vostro with Windows XP Pro installed on it. I recently installed an update KB2844285, apparently there was a difficulty that came out shortly after and it is installed as KB2844284v2. The problem is that it keeps appearing as an update of uninstalled even if it seems to be installed on my system?

Can any ideas on how I fix?

    Thank you

    First try this...

Download and run the Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool , then visit Windows Update and let it try to reinstall updates. Once it's done, scan again with Windows Update to ensure that they properly installed.

The next thing to try is to download the updated v2 of the here and install it manually. See if the problem goes away. If not, I need to know if you don't have .NET 2.0 or have .NET 2.0 under .NET 3.5. .NET 3.5 installs 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5.

You can check for their presence in Add or remove programs or download .NET detector, a very small, stand-alone program that displays the versions installed in bold.

I'll tell you what to do if you still have problems when you answered with what you have installed.

  • What does Windows Update Push 2 updates, installed months ago?

    WHAZZUP, Microsoft®?

A week ago, Windows Update has begun to offer me two updates Windows® 8 Note: Important; namely, KB2976978 and KB3008273. In addition, KB2876229 and KB3048778 optional accessories. I want to do this now ready PC for the upgrade to Windows 8. 1 (x 64). In preparation for the upgrade, management says to be sure that all updates for Windows 8 have been installed before you start the upgrade to 8.1.

Among these, interestingly, Update for Windows 8 for x 64 systems (KB2976978) is already in the updates installed on my PC, with Date = 14/12/2014, and the same is in the control Pane\System and Security\Windows update\View updates history with status = Succeeded, Importance = recommended and the same day, 14/12/2014.

Similarly, the Update for Windows 8 for x 64 systems (KB3008273) is on my PC, in the window titled updates installed, date = 16/02/2015; and even be found in the control Pane\System and Security\Windows update\ view update history with status Succeeded, Importance = recommended = and date, on 16/02/2015.

WUA informs me tonight that they are already downloaded again. I always thought, that surely Microsoft Support had made the Windows Update engine intelligent enough to check through my system and check things installed and not installed things and to provide only the updates that would be required.  Now, how smart IS the much-touted Windows Update engine?  Or, is it a good and healthy reason why these same packages, as it seems, are being pushed to double-installation?

If updates had to be revised and must now be set once again, to patch the original of each, then one would expect Microsoft Support to issue a patch under a new KB number, in order to keep things clean. Or else the need to repeat and insert words in old articles accordingly. I had not seen anything like that on it the last time I checked the Knowledge Base.

And how is security, to rerun the update, after that that it has already been installed once? Why would I want to run the risk of crashing my computer with something that I already have?  Therefore, need not now?

I'm not ready to crash my PC, try to upgrade until these anomalies are cleared up. Microsoft has put out useful guidance on this?  I also need to know if KB3032613 is REALLY "Important" Windows update said recently that is is rated Important, because I was unable to install KB3032613 by Windows Update after having NEVER gave me no download for KB2917499, which is named as a precondition before we can install the KB3032613 . I wish Microsoft® technical support staff would inform Windows Update KB2917499 is prior to the "Important" prorated KB3032613 and make sure that the package offered to customers through Windows Update, or else admit it was a mistake to include KB2917499 as a precondition and remove requirements listed in KB3032613, adding a note of errata on this subject. ".

Instinct of conservation requires that I have to stay away from the Windows 8.1 upgrade until these very valid questions are answered.

  • Interface Web links do not always work properly (check the updates, install app)

    OS 6.4.1, RN10200.

I have 2 servers ReadyNAS (2 x RN10200). On one, when I click on for example, "check for updates", a pop-up window opens and he tells me that my OS is up to date. When I click on the link even on the other, the arrow device turns into a turning circle for a while and then comes back to arrow down, and that's all - it is not whether or not the operating system is up-to-date, or offer to upgrade. In order to upgrade the OS, I have to manually do it.

Another example: I can not install the application on the NAS that is not fully functional. I click on 'Applications', get the list, click on install (from any application) and receive an app error message failed (2nd pop-up, one says that she prepares packages). Then, my browser window restarts the connection to the admin page and I'm on the System tab.

The other NAS doesn't have this problem. The problems started when a system hung during the upgrade of the OS to 6.4.1. I had to do a factory reset (in fact, I tried to do a reload of the OS from flash which then ended in a complete reinstallation I can tell) and then manually install the operating system.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • After auto update installed, Windows Vista does not start

    Individuals:
Windows Vista Home Premium w/Service Pack 1 installed
    Dell Studio 1737, 64-bit

    Problem:
Earlier this week (I think it's the 16th), my computer has installed an automatic Windows Update and restarted.  When she came back to the top, it says Windows could not start and asked if I would so he can try to restore the operating system to a previous point in time or if I try to restart Windows.  I tried to start Windows again (this time with my fingers crossed), but got the same message.  So I went for the #1 option and after half an hour, or so, I got a new error.  To be honest with you, I have seen so many mistakes in the last week, I don't remember exactly what he said, but I wanted to go to the advanced options, where I could choose a restore point manually.  I have put back to point restoration 6/15 and had no problem getting Windows to start.  Unfortunately... Windows REALLY asks me to install this update so at 03:00, after spending at least an hour and a half on the issue, he did an update automatic, rebooted and Windows wouldn't start again.  So, again, I am through the whole process (it's the only way I found to manually choose a restore point) and me to start Windows.  Then I disabled the automatic update in the hope that I could skip this update.  However... Windows has put the updates to install every time I put it in mode 'sleep'.  You can see where I'm going with this.  Now, any time my computer stops for some reason, Windows refuses to restart.  To make matters worse, the last time I had to go through this process, for some reason any he would not support up to 15 and I had to try again and it backwards until the 13th.  Please help me!

You did little to restore the system.

Hide this particular update, if you do not need!

Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

    1. a System Restore to before the updates:

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

System restore steps according to the info above.

    Also:

    2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it

    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".

When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.

    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it

  • How will I know if I have KB926044 on my XP with SP3 & IIS installed and all updates installed

Re: ESET Antivirus Rescue CD & KB926044

The above application requires that I have the Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) installed and that KB926044 is installed on my XP with SP3 & IIS installed and all updates installed.

Is there a way I can check that KB926044 is installed?

    Hello

I want you to know that the Services IIS and IIS can be installed only on Windows XP Professional. Microsoft Windows XP Home edition users are not given the ability to add IIS in the typical method. Using the method "Add / Remove Programs' in the control panel would be nice, but only the XP Professional edition allows.

View a list of updates installed on your computer, follow these steps.

    Open Add or remove programs.

At the top right, select the Show updates check box. All installed updates appear at the top of your list of programs.

Notes: To open Add / Remove Programs, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click on Add / Remove Programs.

You can also view your history for installation on the Windows Update Web site (http://www.microsoft.com).

You can contact Eset customer service here: http://go.eset.com/us/support/contact/s1/#

    I hope this helps.

  • Is-automatic updates install express?

When I manually update Windows XP Professional, I gives me the choice of the "Express" or "Custom" install.  Over the years, I guess, 'Express' is the fastest solution because a subset of all updates are automatically selected for the user (as opposed to all updates).

I recently reinstalled XP Mode in Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (where these important details).  I was invited on the automatic updates, what I've done.  Who installs the updates in the same way as 'Express '?

I installed XP Mode on Windows 7 64-bit, all updates, installed MSE and all its updates. Now, every time I launch a windows update, I am asked to install the active X control. In *, I want to see if I can avoid the Active-X. I don't know why windows update currently prompts for active-X, but not before. I suspect it is because I have updated the windows update, method, although I'm not entirely sure. If this is the case, is there a way to cancel that? In addition, in the bigger picture, * can * windows update occur without ActiveX or depend on the possibilities to update now active-X?

    You have two choices:

1 count on the automatic updates to install updates. or...

    2. switch to manually update via http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (which depends on the ActiveX).

I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with XP mode installed.  I expect to use XP mode a small minority at the time.  Is it possible to have him wake up to the moment where the XP VM is scheduled to search for Windows updates?  Otherwise, it doesn't seem to be much interest to activate automatic downloads for the XP VM.

    Laughing out loud

Tip: To avoid any confusion when you post in a forum on the XP Mode, select Windows 7 as operating system (not Windows XP) then forget XP Mode in your first post. Thank you.

I used to use VMware Workstation 10 and recently upgraded to VMware workstation 11.  However, whenever I try to install a newer version of VMware tools, it will fail with message saying something like "VMware Tools can be installed in the Virtual Machine.

Yes, I am trying to install VMware Tools within the guest operating system, but I get this notification for all my virtual machines, I'm running.

I'm under 6 Virtual Machines simultaneously and they run on Windows 7 32 bit OS and configured with 4 GB of RAM, 1CPU, 100GB HD + 5 GB second HD for the swap file, NO printer, no sound card.

For each virtual machine, I changed about 50 + key of Windows registry and detect the values to hide from all the programs that they are running on the virtual machine.

I assume due to records, I changed, it confuses VM installer who it is not running on a Virtual Machine.  Then I tried to change all these registers changed to send it back to the original value, yet I is always the same message.

I must be missing either some registry values or values that I restored is false. But I don't know which is the case.

I can simply delete all my Virtual Machines and start again with the new virtual machine, but I don't want to repeat this process whenever a newer version of the VM tools out. and installation of windows and search and replace registry values for each virtual computer is full of works.

So, here is my question.  Anyone know how to force the update / install VM tools in my virtual machine?

P.S. I added under scripts in the file .vmx for each of the virtual machines.  I don't think it would cause the problem but just in case I include it.
