Upgrade 32-bit, XP to Windows 7 64-bit
Running XP Home Edition and XP Professional Edition, the two 32 bit. on two separate machines. Try to update either of them to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Processor is an AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual core and have enough disk space and RAM. If I try to load from inside each program I get the message "this installation disc is not compatible with your version of windows. Visiting account that I should do a CLEAN update I have supported all the files on an external hard drive with Windows Easy Transfer. If I try to do a "Custom" upgrade and start from a new drive so that I can do a clean update, I get a boot failure message saying that the disk is not correct. The Windows 7 disc is properly licensed and Windows 7 upgrade advisor reports that there are no problems with my computer and that there should be no problem. Any ideas please?
There is no way to upgrade from XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit.
Assuming that the specs of your PC are robust enough to handle Windows 7, you must perform a clean installation.
But I have my doubts that you have even a 64-bit CPU! But if you want confirmation, let us know the brand, model and model number of your PC.
Finally, what do you exactly by "XP Home edition?" and Business edition I know it's the former, but the latter seems very vague!

Microsoft sells more than 7.
You need to look on Amazon.com, etc..
Follow these steps before installing Windows 7:
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Upgrade my Eee PC with Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional.
I'm trying to upgrade my Eee PC with Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7 Professional. I get an error Code: 0x80070005. Please advise... anyone?
The upgrade to Windows XP?
Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.
Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).
More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.
1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.
2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.
3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.
4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."
5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.
If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services. Releasing it's easy: with Windows | ActiveWin | Laptops | Microsoft MVP

Can I use my copy of Vista Business upgrade retail a computer with Windows XP Pro?
Upgrade/license transfer
I have purchase Windows 7 business plan and upgrade my Vista Business retail version to Windows 7 Pro. Can I use my copy of Vista Business upgrade retail a computer with Windows XP Pro?If you use the license professional Vista as the operating system with a Windows 7 Pro upgrade license then no, you can't continue with Business.
If you use a copy of the licence of right (standard retail) Windows 7 Pro then Yes, you can reuse the company to upgrade XP.
Upgrade license replaces the license qualify you for the upgrade license. That's why the price is reduced from the price of a copy of the full license. In this case, a license of Windows 7 Upgrade binding Vista Business license to the Windows 7 Pro license and operating permits would be free not to use it elsewhere.
How install Windows 7 Pro has no importance. If you use an installation upgrade or new installation method, what matters is the license of Windows 7, to level or standard (full).
Buy a copy of the full license of Windows 7 Pro to do what you are suggesting.

How to upgrade the OEM Version of Windows 7?
Hi all
I have ideapad Lenovo Z560 supplied with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. My understanding is that it is the OEM of Windows 7 version.
My copy of Windows works fine. I want to upgrade to the OEM of Windows 7 Ultimate version.
This kind of upgrade is possible? If 'Yes', then please guide on "how to do". Need the steps to this list.
Which will incur fees? If 'Yes', then please provide details or at least an estimate.
Thank you in advance!

Yes. Almost any computer that comes with Windows preinstalled has a
OEM version. My copy of Windows works fine. I want to upgrade to the OEM of Windows 7 Ultimate version.
Why do you do this? Are you aware that the only difference is
Ultimate has some additional features, and most of the people do not need (or
even want to) these characteristics? This kind of upgrade is possible?
N ° you can't move to an OEM version. If you get an OEM version
you have to clean install it. If you want to upgrade, you must obtain
a commercial version.Which will incur fees? If 'Yes', then please provide details or at least an estimate.
Yes. You need to buy it. I don't know where you can buy this, or what
they would charge it.
