  I'm upgrading Essbase studio 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1. Here is the environment.
  
  OS = Windows Server 2003 R2 x 86
  Database = MS SQL 2008 R2
  
  It is a unique environment and I am able to perform an upgrade inplace for all the elements outside of Essbase Studio.
  
  Does EMP 11.1.1.3 support SQL 2008? Since there is no problem while I configured EMP 11.1.1.3 with it.
  
  I checked EssbaseStudioServer.log and here's something I found in the newspaper.

  SQL Server 2008 is not supported with 11.1.1.3 but with 11.1.21

  It is worth trying the following.

  The CPL \user_projects\\bin\start_BPMS_bpms1_CommandLineClient.bat shell startup

  Yes, you can use the EAS migration Assistant to migrate applications, it will not migrate the data, so you'll need to export/import. He will not also migrate security in Shared Services mode.

  Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 is prety stable and there are a number of available patches if you are worried about the questions.

• Essbase and EIS Installation - Please Help

  I have a request which includes Essbase and environmental impact of the Version 6 x and 7 x. This request must be improved version 11 x.
  
  Can someone explain the process, the upgrade from older versions to the current version of x 11. I went through so many messages, but I didn't know all the messages with two combinations, such as Essbase and environmental impact assessment.
  
  Can you please clear my doubts here
  
  (1) Upgradation Essbase:
  
  I saw so many messages on this but not clear on that. Some messages saying that we can migrate directly from Version x 6 to x 11 install with all intermediate versions and some positions suggests to install the intermediate versions.
  
  I would go to the last. Installation of intermediate versions, then Version 11 x. In this process, I need to install on the target server, first 7 X version, and then install version above 7 X 9 X and then install X 11 on top of 9 x Version, then perform the migration of application/cube. Please correct my my understandings here.
  
  (2) as my app binded with EIS also, do I have to follow the method described above. Kindly guide me on this.
  
  (3) what I do use displacement in this case configuration configure two software?
  
  With these many doubts in my mind, I could not able to proceed further to improving the software. Please, give your valuable suggestions and help with that. It'll be really great if any document part exists for the installation process?

  We use Essbase Studio 11.1.2.1.00 with EAS, IST (all 11.1.2.1.00) and now I am trying to install just Essbase Studio 11.1.2.2 and do not touch other Hyperion products (which are: Shared Services, EAS and environmental impact assessment).
  
  I downloaded and extracted the 7 parts for 11.1.2.2 and when I run the installation using installtool.cmd I had the window of setup of EMP and on the page where I should be able to select the option ' Version of Maintenance apply "is grayed out now leaving me with only the 'New Installation' option, which I won't do. All I want to do is upgrade Essbase studio 11.1.2.1.00 to 11.1.2.2 using the "Maintenance release apply.
  
  Please help me on how to proceed.

  You must apply the update on all products, also many products will be compatible with each other if they are at the same version.

  CALCLIMITFORMULARECURSION configuration setting is not valid for the ASO cubes and applies only to the BSO cubes. The equivalent configuration for the ASO cubes is MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION.

  Syntax

  MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION TRUE. FAKE

  TRUE - imposes a limit of 31 on the number of levels to run MDX formula. The default setting is TRUE.
  FALSE - no limits on the number of levels to run MDX formula.

  Description
  MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION limits the number of levels of execution of MDX calculated members or formulas. MDX calculated members or the formula of execution may be recursive (for example, a formula can refer to itself or a calculated member can refer to itself). By default, Essbase limit the number of levels to run MDX formula, because formulas with excessive levels of execution can lead to errors of the stack overflow and crash the server. However, setting MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION set to FALSE prevents Essbase to impose the limitation. You can use this parameter when you know that a recursive execution in a member of formula / calculated will end eventually, and you want to have a depth of greater than 31 recursion.

  If a MDX formula reached 31 runlevels and MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION is not set, or is set to TRUE, Essbase stops this formula of treatment and written
  error messages in the application log. If a formula reached levels of performance 31 and MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION is set to FALSE, Essbase continues this form of treatment.

  ATTENTION: before MDXLIMITFORMULARECURSION to FALSE, do not forget that the MDX formulas in the sketch are not infinitely recursive; for example, make sure that the formulas do not depend on each other. An infinite recursion formula can crash the server.

  This is a known issue and is fixed in version 11.1.1.3.500 and you can consider upgrading Essbase.

• Question about the upgrade path Essbase

  We are modernizing Essbase in windows since version 7.1.6 to 9.3.1 platform. Now my question is what is the best way to do that, as first upgrading to 9.2 then 9.3.1 or completely uninstall and reinstall the version 9.3.1 directly? In Essbase 9.3.1 application is rebuilt from scratch, so we thought to stick with the second option IE 7.1.6 to uninstall and reinstall 9.3.1. But now we have other applications that must be replicated from 7.1.6 to 9.3.1 an app frame. We heard that we must follow the path of upgrade first to 9.2, then in 9.3.1. Is this true? !!
  
  Can you guys shed some light on this as well as the consequences of each option, if applicable.

  personally, I would be completely uninstall, make sure that all the elements of the old version have disappeared, so check the registry and environment variables have been removed. Then install the 9.3.1.
  As it seems as you are going to use the same server, then for the applications that you want to migrate upward all objects (outlines, scripts of calc, rules, reports), export the data.
  So if you want to export security and filters, then I would look using the essbase (free utility) Advanced Security Manager. Then rebuild the applications once the new environment has been built.

  I have to migrate the Essbase databases from version 6.5 of the 9.3.1. Is it possible to have the installation of 6.5 and 9.3.1 in the same machine and migrate the databases by using the Migration Wizard.
  
  Request to the Migration Wizard for the Source servers and target that must be different and do not accept / proceeds when the same server name is given in the Source text and target text boxes. It is possible to have two instances of the server installed on the same computer. I want to have as 6.5 Source Server and the target server as 9.3.1. This will allow me to test the Migration process using a single server.

• EAS connection after upgrade problem

  One of the sellers made Hyperion 11.1.2.3 upgrade to 11.1.2.4 (on-site). We found that when you are trying to connect to the console of Regional service get us below error if the same references work very well for the workspace. The user id is "admin". We tried to use different browsers, but even it is.

• Excel Addin Essbase support after 11.1.2.4

  I support about 100 Essbase users, who use the add-in to Excel existing (a mixture of 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.2.2).  Several years ago the access administration and security for our Essbase server has been moved to a team specialized in India, so I am now concerned especially with the support/building variious excel financial models that are built into Essbase.  Team India COMPUTING tells me that our servers will be upgraded to version 11.1.2.4 soon, so I need to get users to SmartView. HE has said that after the upgrade, "Add - in Essbase Excel is no longer supported".

  Anyone could use the plug-in inherited after the server upgrade to 11.1.2.4?  Or the add-in will simply stop working?  My understanding is "unsupported" may be different from "will not work".

  I installed SmartView 11.1.2.5.410 (Build 015) on my PC and see some advantages to the new add-in.  However, our group has 2 other large systems updates that are forced to we that will significantly affect our feature from day to day, and I'm not sure that some of them can run a 3rd significant change to their routine

  It still works with 11.1.2.4 but I can't speak for all features or if it can hurt, I would not recommend as it is not a supported configuration and Smart View is the route chosen for Oracle.

  We work closely with Oracle Essbase spreadsheet Add-in Version 9.3 and we have some problems after the upgrade to Office 2013.

  Hi guys, I know a lot of question about essbase certification has already been asked but I have slightly different types of queries. I hope you guys find time to respond.

  I asked oralce what version of essbase is this 1z0-531 certification is and they said for 11.1.2.1.

  1 - is this certification for all the versoin of essbase 11?

  2 - the oracle plans to be upgraded this certification?

  3. If I do this certification, what happens to my old certification? I think I might have to upgrade my certification too?

  I (may be more basic) basic knowledge of essbase. I need an answer about the preparation.

  1. do I need to read additional books other than the oracle documentation?

  2 can do a whole list down the topics we need to prepare for the certification/came under essbase?

  Only Oracle can answer questions about their plans to upgrade the certification.  My guess is they won't later, mainly because there are significant changes in 11.1.2.3.500 from. But you can't take my word for it.

  This particular review says it has been "validated against 11.1.1', but Oracle described him as the" Essbase 11 "certification, so they do not distinguish 11.1.1 and 11.1.2 in this perspective.»  And the possible training material concern 11.1.2 for sure.
