Upgrade for laptop

What is the max menory on my dv5218nr, and the cpu can be upgraded?

Hello

Looking at the specifications for the model looks like it will support up to 2 GB or Ram.

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00699743

As to be able to change your processor, I don't know the answer for your model, but often the CPU is soldered to the motherboard in laptops.  Even if it could be changed you would be limited by the specifications of your card mother and bios.  You also have to take into account any eventual increase output heat that may result.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

  • Presario CQ61-110SL: upgrade for laptop Presario CQ61-110SL from XP to Windows 7 with new SSD EVO 840

In fact on Presario CQ61-110SLI I have XP installed the Vista of origin instead.

Now I want to upgrade to Windows 7 and contestually get a new SSD Samsung 840 rather original EVO... What is the correct procedure?

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

There is no procedure to upgrade from XP to Win 7, it would be clean installation.

    1. place the SSD drive in the machine instead of the HARD disk

    2. start the installation of Win 7 disc to install Win 7 (best x 64 edition)

3 install the drivers of the machine, you can download from >here<

Windows 7 is optimized to work with SSD, there will be no problem.

If you have important data on your old HDD, you can either save it before (on external support, USB key, Cloud solution, etc.)  or after it (via a USB cable plugged into the laptop as external drive). This is also an option to transfer data.

Please, let me know if you have any other questions. Happy holidays!

  • Hardrive can be upgraded for laptop HP G60-235DX of 320 to 500 GB

    Hello.

I learned by a person of tech HP (on the phone) that my HP G60 purchased in 2008 could not be improved to a 320 to a 500 GB.  He could not tell me the reason why not.  The Geek Squad at Best Buy, where I bought the laptop, was told that the upgrade should not be a problem.  My system has 512 of RAM and runs Windows Vista.  Is there a reason why I can't spend my hard drive?  My drvie just died and since I have to replace it, I'd like to update if possible.

    Bookmombridget

    Hello

Make sure that you have burned Recovery DVD for your operating system.

I see no reason for you is not able to upgrade to a 500 GB HARD drive, but I see that you say you have 512 MB of RAM.  If this is the case, just check the link below it is your model, because it indicates that you should have 3 GB of Ram installed.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01630402

512 MB Ram really is too little to run Vista.  Your profile says your machine can have up to 4 GB of Ram.  You really should have at least 1 GB, and 2-3 GB would be really better.

    I hope this helps.

I just bought a Hp laptop model 15-r126na running a pentium cpu r. Can what potential CPUs I put too. The system running windows 8.1 has 8 GB of ddr3 memory and a 1 to hdd Sara any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you

What is the graphic solution of the laptop? It is a dedicated graphics processor (switchable) or only card Intel HD graph?

The memory to 8 GB is alreadt at full power.

You can run the CPU - z utility to see what chipset and the processor are installed?  Post here yourresults.

By the Guide to maintenance & Service (page 1), I do not see a Pentium (r) as a CPU installed as an option.

Your best upgrade option would be a 256-512 GB SSD. That would ramp significantly the performance of your laptop.

Second disk hard additions are only on laptops 17 inches, which have an available extra hard drive Bay

  • Compaq cq58 205 sl: upgrade for laptop

Hello everyone, I thought to upgrade my computer compaq laptop cq58 205sl. I upgraded RAM and mounted an SSD, I would replace the CPU with a more powerful, I don't know if you can do it, and in particular the list of caught processors supported by the motherboard

You have the processor Celeron B830 and I can understand why you want to upgrade it. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See page 21. Your laptop motherboard supports Celeron or Pentium procesors not the hearts of Intel, who would be the best choice. This means that your best option will be a Pentium 2030 M that bump you up to 1.8 ghz to 2.5 ghz and would be a major upgrade.

The manual will show you someone who is familiar with these things how to do the upgrade and the processor Pentium 2030 M is not expensive:

If the answer is "Yes"; This will make a significant difference when it comes to operating speed and the ability to play some of the newer games that require more memory to play. If this isn't the good memory to upgrade my laptop with what I need and how much memory can I add to my system. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    The value maximum supported are 8 GB (2 x 4) DDR3 SODIMM.

    Manual

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02642701

Supports up to 8 GB of RAM in the following configurations
Memory ● total system of 8192 MB (4096 MB × 2, both channels)
    System memory total 6144 ● MB (4096 MB × 1 + 2048 MB × 1)
    Memory ● system total of 4096 MB (2048 MB x 2, dual-channel)
    Memory 4096 MB total system (4096 MB × 1) ●

The problem of the KVR modules is that sometimes does not work, if you are in the United States, one of the most interesting options is Crucial 1.35v - 1.5V DDR3 memory dual voltage

It is not available for XP, it's only for the 7, 8/8.1 for the upgrade. I don't think that the MS site will give the free update to XP machine, as those who are not supported by the Win10 upgrade.

    Hello

This laptop is sold already with 12 GB of RAM. An upgrade to 16 GB is useless and that there should be a 128 SSD GB probably for the operating system. I don't think he needs any upgrade. However, memory module is compatible with your laptop.

Many modern games requires power GPU, CPU and RAM. You cannot pass GPU (graphics card) on your machine, so the best option: buy a gaming machine.
