• Cannot install upgrade LR6. The error is Adobe Application Manager quit unexpectedly.

  I work all day with support via chat, but not yet able to resolve.  I bought the upgrade LR6.  I am currently running LR5 on my mac.  When I try to install the upgrade LR6, the status bar is at 99% complete, but then it ends with error - "Adobe Application Manager quit unexpectedly".  Things tried today with the help of the support chat:

  Delete the folder PDApp and try the upgrade installation.

  Rename the OOBE folder and try to install the upgrade.

  Uninstall Adobe Application Manager and try to install the upgrade.

  LR5 uninstalling, reinstalling LR5 and try to install the upgrade.

  Nothing works.

  Hello Atul and thanks for responding.  Adobe support seems a little disjointed because I offered this solution through several cats and now this forum.  Ultimately what worked for me was adjusting the permissions of read/write on the Application Support folder.

  1. open Macintosh HD

  2. open a library

  3. Select the Application Support folder.

  3 right-click and select information.  -Pop-up is displayed.

  4. click on the padlock on the bottom right pop to unlock (user will have to enter the admin password)

  5. last section, under sharing & permissions, ensure that the administrator and the user tries to install "writing &" can.

  6. for the administrator and user, click options in the lower part (looks like a gear) and choose "apply to the elements included...". »

  Retry installation...

  I have a LR5 installed on a mac, but couldn't find the license code, so I think I can't buy an upgrade to LR6 (not CC) correct?

  If so I buy a new LR6, should I uninstall the LR5 before installing it? did I lose everything?

  If your lr5 was preinstalled by a supplier (for example, dell), contact the supplier.

  your lr 6 is an upgrade of a precedent (for example, lr 5) version.

  After you have entered your serial number lr6 you will be presented with a drop-down list of eligible products.  Select the ones you have.  then you will be prompted for the qualification (that is to say, older) serial number of the product.

  Enter the correct number at the right time and proceed with the installation.

• I'm just wondering, once I installed upgrading LR6 should I keep the old versions on my computer? I want to reduce the amount of unnecessary things on my hard drive.

  You can uninstall previous versions of Lightroom, once you have installed 6 Lightroom and you are satisfied of this.

After reboot LR6 requests license key and connect to Adobe, since then, I am unable to use the product as it seems not to accept the button upgrade LR6 or he does not ask as it is usual for a previous key.   Please let us how you purchased the upgrade LR6 in detail, which product have you provided that you had previously allowed you to buy the update serial number?

  Whenever you activate an upgrade serial number, he always asks a previous version serial number. I don't see such a series in this forum Adobe ID account.
