Upgrade my satellite M60-169 for Windows7

Can I put my satellite M60-169 from XP to Windows7?

Why not?!
You to do what you want, you can also install Win 7.

But you will not find the drivers for Windows 7 on Toshiba European page for this series and, therefore, you have to look on some pages of party 3rd compatible drivers!

  • Satellite M60-169: BSOD appears after upgrade RAM to 1.5 GB

    Hello

    Satellite M60-169 got 1 GB DDR2 Samsung 533 MHz RAM-Modules (2x512MB).
    Now, I have installed a new 1 GB DDR2 Samsung 533 MHz RAM-Module (1x1024MB + orig. 1x512mo = 1, 5 GB memory)

The problem is: the system reboots before you start Windows XP or Windows Vista.
Reinstaling 2x512MB Modules: everything works fine.
Reinstall the new 1 GB Module: blue screen and reboot. :(

I tested the memory modules with memtest86 Boot-CD and all DD2-Modules work and produce no errors.
Why the new RAM is not compatible with the laptop?

The specifications of the new 1024 MB of RAM is: Samsung 1 GB 2Rx8 PC2-4200-444-12-E3 M470T2953CZ3-CD5 double sided
The specifications of the orig. 512 MB of RAM is: double-Samsung 512 MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200-444-12-A3-M470T6554CZ3-CD5

Very strange! The RAM is like the original equipped with RAM.
    Is this a BIOS problem?
If I don't just install a single module of 512 MB, the system starts without any problem. Even if I install only a single modulue of the new 1 GB of RAM, the system does not boot to Windows.

There may be a BIOS Solution for this problem in the future?, now more installed new BIOS (1.60).

    BR Pappl

    Hello

I don t think the BIOS problem.
In my opinion, there is a problem with the RAM modules.
The new module of memory is default or it s just not compatible.

Perhaps the mix of RAM is the reason for BSOD interruptions.
Have you tried to use only the new 1 GB module?
    Check it out.

I have additional checked the Web from Toshiba site Options & accessories and according to the news, you must use this memory module 1 GB:
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Upgrading Toshiba Satellite PRO C for Windows 8 with DVD

    Hi all!

I tried to upgrade to Windows 8 PRO with the DVD provided with the laptop but cannot achieve this goal.

I made the changes in the BIOS as the said document (CSM boot for a UEFI boot and enable Secure Boot), started the laptop with the DVDs, but after running for a while, it stops and show a message saying something like there is not enough space in partition to write the image o something like that. Sorry because I don't have the exact message. Any ideas on this subject?

Fortunately, I did the DVD to recover for the restoration of Windows 7, but I would like to run Windows 8 in the laptop.

    Kind regards.

    Javier.

If I m not wrong not the message means that the partition does not provide sufficient space to install the system Win 8.

I think you need to format the partition before you begin the installation of the system.
This option should be given during the installation of the OS, I can not say with certainty what stage should provide this option, but this should be asked at the beginning of the installation

  • Satellite M60: cannot install the latest driver for my graphics card

Can not install the latest driver for my graphics card
    Satellite M60
GRAPHICS ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 700

    Hello

First of all I'm really putting t understand why you start two topics with the same theme. It is often better to have a subject with good content and interesting comments. Am I wrong? ;)

Anyway, in your case, it is interesting that Toshiba use adapted drivers because of the material. This means that this graphics card is not required to run at the maximum level. Material cooling in laptops is very problematic and high temperature can cause overheating or a material damage. All hardware components are placed on a small square. Graphics card produces a lot of heat and it is not so good for other material.

When you use graphic driver non-Toshiba card is forced to run faster. That's any use of support laptop manufacturers don t of third party drivers. The fact is that physical protection is a priority.

I didn t do all the experiments, but according to some reports on this forum, there is how to install the driver of non-Toshiba graphics card.

Please check this forum and you can find a lot of comments about this. An interesting topic is http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=18063&messageID=66186

  • Upgrade memory on Satellite M60

    Hello
I recently installed Vista Ultimate on my computer Satellite M60 laptop, it is activated and updated, but I think it is out of memory. I have two 512 memory banks and bought two chips of memory of 1 GB crucial to install instead of 512 banks.
It is, I can find a bank under a cover on the bottom of the laptop, but no others, abouts where is it not located and how do I enter?
I did a similar upgrade on an older model and have no problem with the work on the machine, but in this case they were both below and easily accessible.

    Hope you can help.

    Russell.

    Hi Russell

If the two slots of memory are not placed under the memory cover (lower side), one of them is usually placed under the keyboard. To access it, you must remove the plastic placed on the keyboard, and after that the keyboard itself.

  • Where can I find a driver for Satellite A80 169 VISTA?

    Hi all

I just installed Vista, but my sound doesn't work, because I do not have a driver for this.

Where can I find it? On the Toshiba download page, there was nothing...
My laptop is the Satellite A80-169.

    Thank you in advance,

    Anders

    Hello

Alternatively, you can get the drivers by visiting * www.realtek.com * and research his "Realtek ALC250' Vista drivers for the card. (It s the soundchip that is installed on your system)

So, your sound should work perfectly with the authentic realtek drivers.

  • Satellite M60 - issue CPU upgrade

    Hello out there!

    I am a happy owner of a Satellite M60.
I recently installed Win7 pro and nothing works well.

I was offered a new processor Intel M770 and
now, I would like to hear if anyone has any experience changin processor in a laptop.

The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

If I swap the processors, my laptop will get faster, or it will explode like a hurricane and disappear into a smokecloud?

    Best regards
    Mogens

    > The M770 have on the same specsas M740 and executes the same 915 chipsets. M770 has a 2.13 Ghz clock and the M740 1.73 revival.

Well, generally the CPU upgrade is a really complicated because of the compatibility of the BIOS history, but I think you have a good chance to get the laptop working with new CPU M770. It belongs to the same family of CPU as the old CPU and chipsets support is the same.
In addition, I think that this laptop overheating not using this CPU of course there is more the dissipation of heat thanks to the fastest performance, but I think that the cooling modules should handle this

Of course, it s just my opinion personal and everything what you would do is at your own risk.

    Good luck

I just reinstalled Win XP Professional (a new, because the version of recovery has been only XP Home), and after that, I have a problem with the PCI FLASH memory driver, the hardware Manager to show me that I need this driver? Drivers for SD memory cards have already installed, but the problem is still there. I need memory PCI Flash driver for Satellite M60 - 167 model No.: PSM60E-0C801GGR

    Hello

Generally, tools and Utilities CD should be delivered with your laptop.
On this CD you will find all the required drivers for Windows XP. You can use the same drivers WinXP Pro.
If you install the drivers if you do it in the right order.
Installing the chipset utility is very important. This must be done first.
In addition, you must pilot your controller CardBus PCMCIA cardbus.
    Check it out.

  • Upgrading processors with Satellite M60

    Hello
    I own a toshiba satellite m60
Does anyone know if a processor upgrade is possible?
I think the core of centrolo solo could be upgraded to centrino duo (first generation of dual core laptop, before core 2 duo)

    Any help?
    Thank you.
    Ludovic

    Hello

A processor upgrade is not possible, due chipset limitations. I ve tried in my M50 and nothing happened. Machine or boot or anything.

And the other side is, you will lose your warranty if you´re exchange of database components, because you´re open your machine and with this action, actually void you your warranty.

    See you soon

  • Drivers for Windows Vista and Satellite M60

I´d would like to know when Toshiba will release drivers for this type of laptop for sure Vista premium computer laptop.

We have been waiting 1 month and a half, why users like me of this laptop are declassified on this way?

    Hello Tomas

You should know that there is no producer of laptop that will support all models of laptops for the Vista operating system. The same situation is with models of Toshiba laptops. Each laptop producer must create dead line. I assume that this deadline may be portable production data or maybe hardware configuration because Microsoft gave some hardware requirements for the installation of Vista.

It seems stupid, but Microsoft has obviously quite a lot of influence on all of this. In any case, on the latest portable WXP, you will see sticker to Vista. This means that devices with this sticker that can be preinstalled Vista (home to the less basic edition). For these models, you can expect a Vista support but for your older Satellite M60 chances are not so good because this laptop has probably no Vista capable sticker. My M70 also comes without this sticker.

I'm sure that you can install Vista on your device. I recommend you create the second partition on your HARD drive and install Vista to test the feature. I'm sure it will be successful. I tested it on my Satellite M70 too and it works well but I am certainly not so happy with it and will use WXP Pro as before.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Toshiba Satellite M60-154: what is the best way for a long service life of a battery?

    Hello Toshiba-users,

I bought the "Toshiba Satellite M60-154" but I want to use most of the time on the AC adapter.

I read the manual, but they say nothing about the battery life for people like me who will use the computer power adapter laptop most of the time.

I would like to know if:

    (1) it is best put the battery inside when I use the laptop on the power adapter for a long time (they say this is not good for the life of the battery when it is fully charged and when he is still in charge...)

    (2) it is best to take the battery when when I use the laptop on the power adapter for a long time and check the battery every week for example to see whether or not it is still loaded (they say it's good for the life of the battery when the battery is fresh off once a week)

Indeed, what should I do to make sure that the battery will have a long life, knowing that I always use the laptop on the power adapter instead.

    Thanks for the tips

[Edited by: admin on 28-Sep-05 17:28]

    Hello

your info is just. Only put the battery in the laptop, if you want to load or work without mains, to make sure that your battery has a long service life relative.

  • Need drivers for Win7 for Satellite M60-159

I installed the operating system Windows 7 (32 bit) to my Satellite M60 PC - 159 with success. But I could not find windows 7 drivers for my computer. If you help with driver problem, I'll be happy.

    Concerning

This old notebook was designed for Windows XP Home edition and Toshiba doesn't support these old models of laptops for the new operating system.
You can be happy if you will get hardware components of basic as audio, display, LAN, WLAN works properly but all the other stuff can be problematic.

To be honest, you're wrong any problem with drivers. Problem is you are using wrong OS on this old laptop model.

Let Win7 search of available drivers.
