upgrade to 4 GB of memory (HP Pavillion Desktop D1000y XP Prof Service Pk 3, Intel Pentium 4, 2 GB)

I have HP Pavillion Model Office D1000y. OS is XP Prof, Service PK. 3, CPU = Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz,

2.00 Go Ram with 4 DIMMS currently populated by four cards of 512K memory.

I would switch to four memory cards 1 GB to 4 GB of Ram.

Can the o/s hardware support and such configuration?

If so, please give me the details of memory 1 GB cards I can buy.

Thank you.

Illgp, welcome to the forum.

The operating system (OS) is 32-bit.  Therefore, you can install 4 GB of memory, but only 3.25 GB will be used by the operating system.  This is your computer on Crucial'smemory.  Crucial makes good, memory at a reasonable price.  Read the information on the page I provided so that you need to know.  Do not hesitate to ask help from customer support.  They are very useful.

Since I started my HP desktop computer, I was making mistakes of memory and the system hangs until I got close the session and insert it again.  I use my computer for navigation until now, so I have no problems of memory, but I upgraded to 8 GB of memory in any case web.  Same questions.  Manager tasks indicates that I will use only about 20% of my memory, but the fact that Office gives me the error popup memory, then begin to my browsers suspended, means that something that happens.  I have reset or restored to factory default, delete all applications and files, several times, and it still happens.  The fact that I do not have to restart the computer, log in and in return, means that it has something to do with my connection software, but as I said, I don't see any problems with the Task Manager.  I wish I could install Windows 10 without HP software included, but I do not have a license.  If I can't get this installed, I'll convert the Linux machine.

    Hi there @prisd,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you have found errors memory force your system to lock onto you. I'm happy to help you with this.

Can you post the specific error, see you if possible?

Was installed originally with the computer Windows 10, or was it an upgrade installation?

    You have recovery media?

For now, I would say that you go through the following documents. You mentioned that you use only the system of web browsing. It's often the source of these problems provided that there isn't an underlying hardware problem. These pages should help the common causes.

Computers HP - computer crashes or freezes (Windows, 10, 8)

HP PC - computer stops responding or becomes very slow after you connect to the Internet (Windows, 10, 8)

Also, it wouldn't hurt to do a comprehensive set of hardware diagnostics to rule out a real physical problem.

Response PLZ! It's my first time handling HP products and I don't want it to end like this...

    Thank you!!

Yes, this was not a choice good processor if you want to do demanding tasks. You have the N3700 processor which is a low power (both in terms of calculation and electricity) designed for long battery life, without not demanding calculation.

    http://cpuboss.com/CPUs/Intel-Pentium-N3700-vs-Intel-Core-i3-5010U

It is as powerful as an i3, about 85-90%, which isn't really too bad considering how little juice it uses.

See p. 16 of the manual here, with 2 messages. The CPU is soldered to the Commission is not able to be upgraded separately, and the only processors available on this model are low power. And a motherboard would cost about as much as the laptop.

    Repair manuals

Believe it or not, the top of the page processor is the M3 Skylake which runs at 900 mhz, but is even more powerful than the N3700, but not a lot.

  • Upgrade graphics card for the best game - Pavillion P6360SC

    Hello

I have a Pavillion P6360SC with a graphics ATI Radeon HD 5450 and that you need to upgrade to a better (or similar?) ATI.

I play the last Star Wars Old Republic MMORPG (but have difficulties with my ATI 5450).

Is it possible to use e.g. ATI Radeon HD 6950 into my HP Pavilion?

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    Processor: Intel Core i3 530 2.93 GHz
    Motherboard: MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E)
    RAM: 4 GB
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5450

    Best regards

    Jimmy Svensson

    Hi Jimmy,.

Most, if not all of the mid range and more AMD Radeon video cards provide at least a 400 Watt power supply. Recommended graphics cards are close higher and higher mid-range video cards.

If you don't want to power level video card here's something to consider.

An older but great video card is NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB DDR5. This card does not support DirectX 11 which is eventually used in some of the latest PC games but it's a great performer.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

  • Satellite L30 does not start after the upgrade to 2 GB of memory

I bought 2 GB Crucial memory for my L30. After removing the 512 MB module and adding two modules of 1 GB the L30 wouldn't start. With only 1 GB start ok ok, with the other boot only 1 GB.

Either 1 GB modules and module of 512 MB with start ok. The two modules of 1 GB boot not together. Crucial gave up and offered a full refund, but I'd rather have a solution if possible.

At the BIOS level is 2V30, that I understand to be the latest version available.

    Ideas please, John

    Hello

You're right, this problem seems very strange and I wonder why this happens.
Satellite L30 certainly supports the 2 GB of memory and you should be able to upgrade with 2 x 1024Mo modules!

It's strange, but it seems that these two modules are not compatible together
I found Toshiba recommend module on options and accessories site.
DDR2 400/533 1 GB (PA3411U-1M1G) maybe you could try this one...

In any case, I don't think that you will be able to solve this problem in another way. The modules must be replaced.

  • Looking to update my video card without upgrading my power 250 Watt on my Pavillion 6837c

Looking for suggestions as to what would be a good update on the cheap card I recently added 14 GB of RAM so the thing is fast enough, that I would like to just the films to be a little more transparent, any suggestions? Thank you! -josh

    Joshua, welcome to the forum.

Any video card that would work with your power supply (PSU), be much, if any, better than the integrated video.  New middle level cards require at least 350W to 400W power.  Therefore, if you don't want to upgrade the PSU, I recommend staying with the integrated graphics subsystem.  In fact, the problem is to find a card that works.  Manufacturers do not give the requirements of power on their lower level cards.

If you decide to improve the PSU, I like Corsair and OCZ.  That would give you many more choices of cards.  I love EVGA, Sapphire, XFX and PNY in that order.

Note: Remember that your system is not as good as the weakest component.  With the CPU and memory that you have a better map would greatly increase performance.

  • Computer HP Desktop M1188A upgraded the HARD drive and memory upgrade possible

    Hello

I have a HP Desktop M1188A running XP Media Center 2005.  The computer runs very slowly and was only 27.6 GB of free space left on the hard drive with a total area of 149GB.  It has 512 MB of memory installed a 4 GB maximum.  Speed supported is PC3200 MB/sec.  Type of DDR.  DIMM slots 4.  160 GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive.  Fact hard drive 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA means it is a SATA connection?

I want to switch the HARD disk like this I hope that the computer runs faster.  I'm a complete novice with respect to the operation of computers.  What to buy to upgrade the HARD drive?

Will it also upgrade the installed memory?  If so, what to do?

    Everything I need to know?

    Thank you.

    Michelle,

Try for battery HP to THE Bing search engine, I found several sites in line with the Chargers and batteries. BattDepot Australia seems to have decent prices... At$ 24.49 for the loader and THE $37,49 for battery. If you have not yet checked the HP battery reminder page, I recommend you do this first.

First of all, the graphics card can be improved and if so, should I go with?

Depending on the type of memory I thought to install is:

    Crucial Ballistix Sport 16 GB DDR3 - 1600 PC3-12800)

I heard that 8 GB was supposed to be the max, but that was only because it was all that was available at the time, the system was released and that others have used up to 16 GB.

It will work or is there another suggestion?

Thirdly, the SSD I plan on installing is:

    Crucial BX200 480 GB SATA III 6 Gb/s 2.5 "Solid State Drive CT480BX200SSD

Still, I read the system never was not originally designed to support SATA III but if you use BIOS version A09 it would work.

    Is that correct or suggestions?

The last two things I was wondering was that the system overheat easily and stops, to rebuild the thermal paste on the CPU and heatsink help correct this?  As well as to clean the fans, of course.  Or are there other options I should look into?

Anyone know where to buy a new adapter power for this system as well?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide me with.

    Hello.

First of all I would like to ditch the 620M processor, it's i7 below, you can get and dual-core only, not quad.

You should be able to find an i7 820QM at a reasonable price, these days, 920QM or 940QM would be even better, they were the fastest available for this model.

Once you have upgraded the CPU to something on an i7 720QM you can upgrade you RAM to 32 GB at 1333 MHz with no problems, if you want faster than 1333 you need to adjust overclock settings in the system BIOS.

You have two HDD slots, up to any size SSD 1 TB plug-and-play (or to the more require very few adjustments BIOS) Firmware may need to be updated but also that it should be OK, just stick with an alienware used as Samsung brand, and if you can get one from the SSD slightly more older you might save money , you don't need a model 'latest and greatest '.

Upgrade your GPU in the M17xR2 model can be a pain, the fan control is terrible and to really improve and play safely, you should probably use HW Monitor, so you do not cook your cards.

Memory the AMD maps are more lenient when it comes to bi - GPU - I think remember me some upgraded GPU not X shot or SLIing in this model, but now is earlier in order not to forget.

The M17xR2 is a very popular model, with thousands of people, the GPU upgrade - you can having to sort through the garbage to find the jewels but the info you need should be available if you do a search on google

NotebookReview Forum would be a great place to start, 99% of the info you need should be there, the other 1% proably will be on techinferno.

Guilbert - I still think that the M17xR2 has been one of the best they have done...

    Hello Mike,.

The model of this system is designed to support a DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, 800 MHz frequency.

And if your system configuration has been successfully upgraded to a Processor Quad Core support then more memory of 8 GB, new video cards and a bigger power supply can be accommodated.
