There is a problem with the hardware in this model, an incompatibility between HP Blade BL685c G7 and VMware ESXI 4.1 vSphere servers. I installed ESXI 4.1 U2 since an ISO image that I downloaded directly on the website of HP.

  The ISO´s standard you can get ESXI 4.1 in VMware site doesn´t work with this model. If I try to start with the ESXI4.1U3 ISO or any other version 4.1 is imposible. In the picture you can see the message.

  I connect to my host using PuTTY and just as a test, I ran the command at the end of the doc to see what the returned values 'list of vib software esxcli' which should have included the current version of which has been installed, but instead, I get "command not found". Then I tried to enter just 'exscli' and it gives me the same error. What I am doing wrong?

  You are connected to the vCenter Server Appliance rather than an ESXi host.

  BTW instead of use the version you mentioned, you can also use the last one which not only contains other improvements, but also fixes for the issue of software (OpenSSL).

  You can go directly to U4! Keep in mind that when you perform an update via CD, it is advisable to remove the SAN connection before making the upgrade...

• Dell M620 (VRTX) blade - ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1 installation upgrade to ESXi 5.1.0 Update 3 (latest)

  This morning I did an installation of upgrade to ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1 to ESXi 5.1.0 Update 3 (latest Version) on one of the blades of my VRTX M620 three 3.  I have the same problem that I met about a year, when I tried to update 1-2 update.  I had to go down to 1 update to see the data store.

  With update 3, the data store does not appear on this blade.  I did a scan to see if the data store is present, but he did not.  Also, I restarted the blade which did not help.

  I have to keep upgrading to 3 update due to the necessary correction of problem CBT.

  How to troubleshoot and resolve this problem of my data store does not?

  Note: I have very little experience with virtualization.  I just found today on how to access the interface from the CLI of blades.

  SOLVED.

  The original sas megaraid drivers (even installed on the blades of M620 Dell) had to be installed.  It is my understanding that several versions of the megaraid sas driver provided on the Dell ESXi ISO are meant to satisfy the VMware HCL for this material.  However, the more recent does not show the data store.

  Recently, I upgraded my ESXi host from version 5.1 to 6.0.0.2809209. Passthrough ESXi 5.1 USB worked without problem. I updated 5.1 to 6.0 when usb smart card readers is connected. Now USB smart card readers did not appear on ESXi 6. 0b.

  I couldn't find any usb tethering in settings of the virtual computer .

  I have a serious issue here after the upgrade of the HP Blade 465 BL c G7 with adapter Emulex NC551i double Port FlexFabric 10 Gb..

  The problem: after the successful online update of ESXi 5.1 Update 2 Patch 5 (2000251) in ESXi 5.1 update 3 (2323236) the ESXi server cannot be crazy, or it can ping to the outside network, so she doesn't have to reconnect to the VCenter server.

  Software/Firmware version:

• HP DL360 gen5 - is - it safe to upgrade to esxi 6.0?

  I know that the DL360 g5 has been out of the list of compatibility for some time now, but this is the box I have humming perfectly with 5.5 ESXi.

  I want to upgrade to esxi 6.0 (from the vib warehouse), but I fear that if the network and storage adapters will continue to work:

  1 adapter Gigabit Broadcom NC373i

  2. smart Array P400i

  3 631xESB/632xESB IDE controller

  I could not understand my way through the Compatibility Checker (or could not find these listed), but then I updated my HP N54L critical box non-production of esxi 6.0 without problems and it is not as compatible either.

  So if anyone has a DL360 gen5 (or a box with similar storage/network adapters listed above) and if you tried to upgrade to esxi 6.0 let me know whenever your upgrade was successful or not.

  I've updated all my guests who were on the SAN storage with no problems.

  I would like to know that if it there's nothing I should take care before I update the host connected iSCSI to ESXi 5.5, as for the hosts with SAN attached storage I made to remove the cables of SAN before upgrading the host.

  With ESXi prior to version 5, linking ports had to be done via command line. However, if it has been configured correctly, you should be able to upgrade to ESXi 5.5 (assuming that the host has not been previously updated since version 3). BTW. the last time that I disconnected the host of storage for an upgrade has been with ESX 3.0.

  We have VMware hosts that have been updated to ESXi 4.1 5.1 using the Update Manager.  Wouldn't we be ok to update these servers ESXi 5.5 or 6.0 without having to do a fresh install and reformat?

  I don't know if there is a limit to how many times where you can upgrade, but the upgrade to ESXi 4.1 to 5.1 and 5.5 is supported and works (I just tested it in my lab).

  Yes, that's correct.

  I recently finished the upgrade of lots of stand-alone hosts ESXi 4.1 (with local storage only) to 5.1 and all were successful. The same process applies to 5.5, so you shouldn't have a problem with preservation of VMFS data warehouses (and all virtual machines).
