  I found the solution!

  You need to repair or rebuild Windows DriverStore. (which would make a reinstallation)

  You need access to a working Windows machine to solve this problem, but your PC will fix the driverstore himself.

  To do this:

  1) go to "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" from a working PC that is copied to a USB drive or a network share.

  (2) on your PC goto Device Manager and find the device that settles (look for the yellow triangle).

  (3) right click and select "Update Driver Software".

  (4) select "Browse my computer for driver software".

  5) navigate to the location of your good copy of the DriverStore

  (6) "Include subfolders" check and click Next

  Windows will now search the driver good store and will be re - install the pre-configured drivers.

  Ignore any warnings about the driver being unsigned and let your PC to install them.

  Work pilots will be given on your pc, the driver cache will rebuild and your device will start working.

  Hooray!

  If you move the device to another USB port it will now install automatically, as it should.

  My usual Setup is to have my printer connected to my desktop (Windows XP Pro). My HP laptop is connected via a wireless connection to my home network, which is also connected to my desktop computer. Of course, this means that I have the office turned on to be able to print from my laptop.

  Everything worked great until I decided I'd rather have my connected printer to directly to my laptop via USB.

  When I connect the printer via the USB port on my laptop, windows installs the software and reported no problems. Yet when I try to print a test page, I get the mentioned error. When I then reconnect the printer to the desktop and try to print a test page to my network, I get exactly the same error message. The office and the printer still work fine, it's just that I can't print from my laptop.

  I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer on my laptop with the USB connection and the network, but it still does not work. The resolution of the problems on the laptop reported no problems, and the printer is set as default printer. I also get an another error msg when I click on the Preferences button in the printer properties: address of the 0x5aeba4f1 function caused a protection fault. (code 0xc0000005 exception) Some or all property pages cannot be displayed.

  
  

  The only way I found to get around this is to use windows restore and restore my laptop before the point when I connected the printer via the usb port.

  Any suggestions?

  I was wondering that usb passthrought would be automatically turned on and I have no configuration passthrought in vcenter, Am I missing something.  ???

  There are two ways to accomplish USB transfer in vSphere 5. You can use the USB connected client method mentioned above, or you can use connected USB host devices.  If you want to use a USB drive connected directly to the host, you first add the USB controller in your virtual machine, and then add a USB device. If the USB drive is detected correctly, it will be shown as a USB device is available and can be passed through to your VM.  This method could perform better since the USB data transfer will be internal to the host and not sent over a network link.
