Upgrade to Windows 7 family basic Windows 7 Ultimate will remove my files?

upgrade windows 7 Home Basic to windows 7 Ultimate edition will delete my files?

If you are using Anytime Upgrade, it should not.

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Home Basic to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

  • Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello.

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1240TX laptop computer running Windows Vista (32-bit) basic family. And want to upgrade to windows 7 ultimate.

Corresponds to the system requirements. I also have the HP Recovery Manager recovery disks.

The questions are, how do I do the laptop bootable so that I can start the installation? And I'll lose the Drive (drive D) Recovery?

I downloaded the driver for Win 7 package for my laptop

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=4062 & LC = on & CC = US & DLC = in & sw_lang = & Product = 3877...

    Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I just found out the correction software in the general guide, other questions remain

    Hello:

I start the computer, install the disk in the DVD drive, and restart. To the HP splash screen hit key F9 several times, and you should be presented with a boot menu. Select your DVD drive and you'll be off and running.

Sure just that when it asks you where to install windows, select your existing C drive and not delete all partitions. I cannot reformat or anything like that. So, if you do not remove your recovery partition, install W7 x 64 has no effect on it.

What I did all my facilities W7 32 or 64-bit was just install W7 x 64 right above the existing Vista/XP OS and it will create a folder named Windows.old.

Once installation is complete, you can delete the Windows.old folder and retrieve usable disk space. You can also still get all files, music and photos, that you perhaps forgot to back up this Windows.old folder if you need.

  • If the upgrade to windows 7, it will be able to read data discs my xp?

If the upgrade to windows 7, it will be able to read data discs my xp? l have data recorded on cd and on Word, and then transferred to cd/disc, to save. My XP PC can read the disc on reinstalling Microsoft Works, which has the word inside program. Windows 7 will be able to read these discs of data?

    Hi steve,.

Just to make sure I understand, you have the Word documents on them with backup discs and wondering if they will be recognised by Windows 7.
If this is the case, then you should not have to worry. Windows 7 will read the disc properly. However, as with XP, you will need to install the correct program that you would use to open files.
In other words, if they are Word documents, then you will need to have MS Word installed or installed works for viewing.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need more information.

I was running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit for many years without any serious problem. After the upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit I was prey to a BSOD random. Sometimes I can get several BSOD in one day. Sometimes I could get any same-day heavy after multitasking.  The BSOD may occur during any task or when I try to quit. I have the latest drivers and BIOS. I disconnected all my equipment and refurbished it. I used the diagnostic tools to test my memory 4G and my Seagate 1 t SSHD hybrid and they passed. I changed the sata connection cable my HD to the MB. I did a Windows repair (scannow) and also done a repair install and it did not help. Although these questions is past the BSOD after upgrade to Win 7 64 bit, that I suspect may not be associated with Win 64 bit but could be hardware related. Any help to solve this issue will be appreciated.

    Hello

I bought this computer 4 years ago, it came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) preinstalled. About a year and a half later, I bought the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. Well well, long story short, I messed around with some settings (without a saved image), and I am looking to re - install.

The two keys are still usable.

  • Problems upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate - needs disk drivers

We have two HP TouchSmart PC.  One is a TouchSmart IQ505a originally shipped with Vista installed and running Windows 7 Ultimate for years.  The other is a 320-1135 was originally shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium TouchSmart.  We have a DVD of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, burned an ISO image downloaded as part of a Microsoft Partner subscription.  (We are software publishers).

When I tried to install the 320-1135a TouchSmart, installation got as far as saying that «the installation program starts...» ».  He then asked me to insert a driver disk.  I downloaded all the Softpacs driver for the 320-1135a TouchSmart, copied all the files .exe on a CD and inserted into the 320-1135a TouchSmart.  Then I navigated to the folder that contains the drivers, but the Installer did not see them.

Over the years I've installed older TouchSmart IQ505a several times during the same installation disc, but I could neither recall never asked for drivers to the installation of Windows 7 was complete.  Then I reinstalled the TouchSmart IQ505a, just to double check my memory.  NONE of the pilots did NOT the same Windows Installer.  He completed the Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit install.  I then installed the drivers of IQ505a TouchSmart as usual.

I guess what is happening here is that the 320-1135a TouchSmart requires latest drivers, or something that is not on our Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit DVD.  So I called HP Support, only to be told that they were not familiar with the Windows 7 installation procedures and since we got the DVD from Microsoft, we have to communicate with them.  I protested "but it's YOUR drivers that's not reading.  I expect Microsoft will just to send back me to you. "- only to be told"contact Microsoft ".  Which is where we are currently at.

Can someone help me with my dilemma.  What I have to do something with Softpac .exe files before they can be seen as drivers my Windows install, if so what?  And if that's the case why couldn't HP tell me?

If the TouchSmart is running Windows 7 Home Premium, why don't you just try the upgrade by using Windows Anytime Upgrade and the ultimate product key?

To use the upgrade of Windows 8 you must have a previous version installed, licensed and registered in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

  • Shyould I use anytime upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, or buy a separate Windows 7 Ultimate product key?

Hi, I am in the same situation.

I just bought a preinstalled HP Win 7 Pro system and have now discovered that I need Win 7 Ultimate to create a disc hard virtual bootable from it.

I am trying to decide if I should do the Express upgrade to Ultimate or if I have to buy a separate license for ultimate Win 7. I don't want to waste money on the upgrade first then I should still buy the license full. I guess it's the case that j. Miner is.

J.Miner, you said that you already updated your Windows 7 Pro to ultimate before to a virtual hard disk from him. I don't suppose you aready active Win 7 Ultimate host after that upgrade, or upgrade process should do.

This means that when you perform the VHD, activation is removed.

Also how did the virtual hard disk. Have you used sysprep, imagex or disk2vhd. Things I've read, it seems that both sysprep and imagex will remove some information to generalize the boot image is not the case of disk2vhd.

Please let me know how you have progressed with this exploration, so I can do the same thing if you got him.

Windows 7 is no longer available via Windows Anytime Upgrade, you will need to either buy a full version or upgrade version Windows 7 Ultimate license and use the product key with the Express upgrade.

    Full version-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

    Version upgrade-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate.
