As a major player, I am very concerned by the idea of upgrading to windows7. I really need to know if it's worth the expense because I have the older multiplayer games that I still love to play on XP dating all the way back to the year 2002.

Win7 can be a nice game platform.  Before begin you, check to see if your favorite games is compatible.  Some games, especially the very old, have difficulties.  Check out this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7programs/thread/3c1d9def-5320-41e2-9990-85fb525f373d

Is an upgrade to widows 8 recommended Pro?

    Hello

According to the info I found on the page of Toshiba, the laptop is preinstalled with common system of 64-bit Windows 8.

If you want to upgrade this Windows 8 Pro version, you can buy the upgrade of Microsoft.

But the question is if these updates would be really necessary for you...
I dunno... This page and take a look at the details provided by Microsoft Windows 8 Pro

You can see what are the benefits of the windows 8 Pro version would provide.
Usually there is no big difference between Windows 8 and the Pro version.

First, you must decide whether to buy Windows 7 as an upgrade CD or a full commercial license holder.  A full retail version costs more than a version upgrade.  However, if you buy Windows 7 with full commercial license, you will avoid potential problems, as there is certainly no need to re - install Win XP.

A clean install is always preferable to an upgrade, and in all cases, it is not possible to upgrade directly from Windows XP to Windows 7.  Even if you use a CD 'upgrade', you will need to perform a "Custom" or new installation of Windows 7.  A custom installation replaces not only Windows XP. It also replaces everything on the hard drive.

In the past, you can use a CD to upgrade - to perform a new installation of a newer operating system.  For example, if you inserted a CD with version upgrade of Windows XP, the process could find a precedent (and real installation of Windows 98).  If this search detected Windows 98, the CD would be upgrading Windows 98 to Windows XP.

If the search has not detected a previous installation of Windows 98 (on a new hard drive or recently formatted), it could prompt the user to insert his old CD of Windows 98.  After checking the validity of the Windows 98 CD, the CD 'upgrade' would continue the installation of Windows XP - as a new installation.

According to the Microsoft website, all editions of Windows XP are eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7 - so if you use Win XP on your PC, Microsoft recommends that you buy a package labeled "Upgrade".  However, I don't know if the previous procedure will allow you to perform a new installation of Windows 7 on a new hard drive.  If this isn't the case, you might need to reinstall and validate Windows XP first, simply to confirm your eligibility for the upgrade version.

I have a Toshiba Windows Vista laptop and I want to upgrade to Windows 7. I have two user accounts and I was just wondering that during the upgrade can I still keep the files that I have on the accounts or they will be deleted? Thank you.

If you make a way to update your programs and files will be kept. A custom installation will remove your programs and files.

If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.

    Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Business

    Installation - 'upgrade' means what?
Upgrade means that you can install Windows 7 simply by inserting the Windows 7 upgrade software in the DVD drive of your PC and follow the instructions on the screen. While you are not required to backup and reinstall your files, or reinstall your programs, it is a very good idea to back up your files and settings before you start any upgrade to the software. Get more information on the software updates and best practices .

Installation - what does "Custom (Clean)" Mean?
A custom (clean) installation clears the contents of the hard drive of your PC. Your files, settings, and programs will not be transferred to Windows 7. This means that to install Windows 7, you must:

    • Back up any files and settings you want to keep

    • Install Windows 7

    • Reinstall all your files

    • Reinstall all the programs you want to use.

These four steps take time, skills, techniques and Windows Easy Transfer can help. However, if you are not comfortable with this process, please consider having the installation carried out by a local service provider.

If you want to make a room upgrade, you can use Windows 7 Pro 32-bit - you can buy and use the upgrade version. You can also buy Home Premium, but will need to perform a custom installation.

Then my computer run Windows 7?
Basic system requirements are listed below.  Features have additional requirements.

    • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x 86) or 64-bit (x 64) processor

    • 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

    • 16 GB of disk space available (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

    • Graphical device DirectX 9 with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Run Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are known problems that might affect installation and if you need to install the 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

  • My 80071aa7 error will be fixed by the upgrade to windows 7?

I was not able to get any microsoft vista updates from my HP Pavilion laptop for over a year.
The error is '80071aa7' which tries to update, do not and then try to update on every restart, and fails again and again.

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 soon brings me to my question:

The upgrade to windows 7 will fix the problem or I have to get it fixed before the update.

Note: I found a solution for vista on RunonFriday.com blog, but it is a long process which seems to be the solution above my head.  Me would rather not attack is if Windows 7 will fix it anyway.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi lsawyer

You try to use the steps below and check if these help. Also upgrade to Windows 7 should help you solve the problem-

    Method 1:
You try to install the updates in a clean boot state to determine whether all non-Microsoft services interfere. To perform the clean boot follow step 1 mentioned in the article below, and then try again check in the clean boot state -

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the problem is resolved check which service non-Microsoft is the source of the problem; referring to article and following the other steps.
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    b. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option and then click OK.

    c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2:

You can try to reset the Windows Update components and check if that helps. Follow the link given below to do the same.

    Method 3:
You can also follow the steps in the Microsoft article below and check if these help -.

I bought Windows Vista Home Premium and got a free upgrade to Windows 7, which I have installed on Computer1.  Can I install Vista on a second computer computer2 and still be legal?

Is same question with versions of Microsoft office, if I have multiple versions allowed to install an earlier version on a second computer and stay legal?

No, unfortunately not, when you upgraded to Windows 7 indeed renounce you your right to use Vista. But keep the product key and Vista media where you need to perform a clean installation of Windows 7 again.

For MS Office (according to license as some allow multiple installations) If this older version is not in use you can install it on this computer second no questioned asked.

    Hello

Alternatively, you can upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 by going to the Windows 10 software download page to download the tool of creation of media. The media authoring tool can be used to create a USB or DVD media to upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 or install Windows 10 on another PC.

Follow the instructions on the download page of Windows 10 software: http://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10

    Note:

When upgrading to Windows 10 using media, you must run setup.exe from in your version of Windows 7 or Windows 8 and authentic. If you want to boot from media, you must have upgraded to Windows 10 previously. • Windows 7 upgrade of Windows 8 (license issue)

I've updated from Windows 7 to Windows 8 using the upgrade package (download version). I would like to install the Windows 7 OS on another PC, that aloud?

Thank you both for your quick responses. The Windows 7 operating system is a commercial version. Yes, as far as I understand. If I had to re - install the Windows at some point, I need the operating system Windows 7 first, before I can upgrade to Windows 8.

Well, that depends, if you were to format the drive, Yes, you will need to reinstall Windows 7 first then repeat the upgrade to Windows 8.

You can reinstall Windows 8 using the following method if:

    · Press the Windows key + i on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · In virtue remove all and reinstall Windows, click Start

Then follow instructions that will be provided on the screen to reinstall Windows on your PC.

It would also mean I could install the upgrade of Windows 8 on another machine if I wanted to and then just leave the other PC with operating system Windows 7 above.

    That is right.

Reason being, is that my colleague does not fit on Windows 8 so maybe in the future I re - install Windows 7 on my PC of colleagues and use the upgrade of Windows 8 (hoping that I can not download this again since the MS Store) on my Lap Top that I would use.

As long as the license of Windows 7 is re-installed, you are free to transfer the Windows 8 upgrade elsewhere. You can always reinstall it by returning to the reception of your e-mail when you made your purchase or:

Go to the order summary page, you can find your product key:

    https://www.mswos.com/

You can download it from there and use your product key to upgrade:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

Is also accepted, or is the upgrade license tied to the machine on which I originally upgraded Windows 8?

No, as long as the license of Windows 8 is removed from the machine, you can transfer it to another machine.

I bought a laptop with windows vista on it. I've upgraded to windows 7 ultimate, but the person who sells it to me has not advised that it was an exemplary dog. I don't have a vista disc. How can I update/install windows 8

The first thing you can do is run the Upgrade Advisor:

If you are able to run Windows 8, I suggest buy you this version of Windows 8, simply because if you decide to take a laptop or a PC, you can remove it from the old computer and install it on your new. In addition, it won't matter that your previous version, as you say, "doggy."
