  Provided the specifications of the computer meets Windows XP you can switch from 2000 to XP. If it does not meet the specifications, you may upgrade the computer first or get a new one which is more cheaper today.

  I'm sorry, but you will need a Windows 9 x / ME drive to provide during the XP installation from the XP disc is a version upgrade. There is no way around that. See if you can find a friend with an older operating system disk (not a recovery disk) to support qualification.   Try saving it in a an ISO Image... You can then put it on a flash or DVD later...

  Make sure that you try to download Win 8 and not earn 8.1...

  You will always have problems well... even if you manage to get the picture, it will take an existing operating system on the machine.

  How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

  There is no Vista free download legal available.

  Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

  Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
