Hi Philofduluth and thanks for posting.

There is not a free upgrade for Media Center 2005. If this is something you would like to do, I contact your OEM manufacturer and ask if there is a software upgrade, they can provide you.

If you have all the updates that are available for your system go to http://update.microsoft.com . Here, you can see all the latest reviews and optional updates that may be available to you and make install.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

  • Upgrade Advisor omitted Windows 7 Professional

    Hello-

I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on a computer in Windows Vista Home Professional 32 - bit and the results noted the following:

(check mark)  Upgrade Options available: you can switch to 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate.

Question: why Windows 7 Professional is specifically omitted?  It is my favorite upgrade such that I can use the XP mode at the cheapest price upgrade.

    Thank you!

You can use an upgrade license to upgrade Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro, but it requires a Custom Installation.  Unfortunately, an In-Place-Upgrade HP Vista to Windows 7 Pro is not supported.

What you can do to maintain a path in place upgrade to Windows 7 Pro, this is to do an in-place-upgrade to Vista HP for Windows 7 HP, then upgrade Express Windows 7 HP Professional.  The cost is almost the same (a few dollars more).

The problem is a design with Vista Business error that caused a loss of functionality problem when switching from HP company.  Many VHP features are not in business, as the Media Center.  That fact goes VHP 7Pro a problem too.  Microsoft has corrected the error in Windows 7 by ensuring that there is no loss of functionality, and an in-place-upgrade is only supported when 7CV to 7Pro.

  • Try to upgrade Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to professional, but I can't access the site to upgrade. How to pass?

I just bought a new computer running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium with an upgrade to windows 7 Pro. I have the PIN # for the upgrade, but I can't get the site to come www.windows7.com/get key. How to pass?

If your PIN does not work, try the following:
    1. check that the PIN has been entered correctly. PIN code is not case sensitive and is alpha-numeric.
    2. make sure that the PIN has not already been used to obtain a product key. A PIN can be used only once to get a product key. If the PIN has been used, you can connect to your account with your Windows Live ID (if you have it when the PIN has been entered) to access your product key or you can check your email for the confirmation e-mail, that you have received when the PIN has been consumed to access your product key.

  • Upgrades students of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate edition

    Hello

I am a student of the University. I bought an upgrade of students student Windows 7 (64 bit) last year at the campus bookstore and used on my desk. I have a laptop that I would switch to win7 but noticed that these improvements are only allowed on a single computer at a time. While watching on the website of my campus, I saw that they also offered Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) for download free valid student ID information (via E-academy).  After all by filling and by accepting the agreement, that gave me access to a download and a product key for Win7 Prof. before installation, I reread the agreement (just-in-case) and saw do this:

«Licensor grants students the right to run one copy of the version number and language of software identified below which student has installed on the PC of the student by the rights granted to the students by the Institution under Campus subscription program.»

When he says "...". one copy the version number... "means collective product line of Windows 7 (as in home, professional, Ultimate etc.)? I violate the program making subscription? I saw the above agreement and am now very nervous about all this. Should I be? I did not violate anything? I do not have the Professional on the laptop and so was not used the product key.

Your OK, not to worry. You have separate editions (version number) and product keys if this isn't a problem.

  • New computer without OS. Have Win98 OEM, upgrade XP Home Edition, and upgrade Vista Home Premium software.

I entered the confusion there is trying to install the software above in the obviously logical order of about 18 months.

I was puzzled by the comment of the information for the purpose (I don't remember exactly) that Vista could not be installed because its ranking system is different from XP.

I "solved" the problem by buying the full version of Windows 7.

Is there a way I could have installed upgrading Vista - IE an upgrade of an upgrade?

I ask because I do the same thing again.

I don't know which comment you are referring to-XP and Vista can use the same file systems (FAT16, FAT32, NTFS).

Windows 98 won't probably install or run on a new computer.  Here's how you might have used the upgrade of Vista:

    1. Start from the family XP Edition upgrade disk.
    2. When the installation process asks you a qualifying version of Windows, insert the Windows 98 CD.
    3. Once the installation is complete, start Windows XP.
    4. Insert the Windows Vista upgrade disk and do the upgrade.
