upgrade windows xp to windows 7 pro, without disk

I have a computer with windows xp and it came with a license for Windows 7 Pro.   I never received the original disc with the purchase of the PC. At the time. I preferred to run XP instead of 7 who was ranked down at installation time.  This was bought from a company computer and installed, for me, a few years ago.  I'm no longer with this company.

I want to upgrade my PC to Windows 7 Pro license but must be able to download the installation.  All links on this forum lead to a broken link.  My computer is 32-bit.

How can I get my computer upgraded to this version?

Also, I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor's report and he says it works with Windows 7, but it also works for windows 7 Pro.

Please help as I want to get this upgrade as soon as possible.

The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Pro 32 bit to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I bought Windows 7 Pro (32 bit) a year ago and I got a disk, the disk of 32 bits, with my purchase. So my question is, how do I upgrade to a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Professional?

I heard that there is a chance that I could have someone (Microsoft) send me a 64-bit version because they key will work for each version, but it sounds too good to be true... is it? Also, if I can't do this, can I have a 'Windows 7 Professional Upgrade' (64-bit) and boot from the DVD drive and improve it like that or you can during the passage of XP or Vista?
I guess, the best/most simple/best way to upgrade Windows 7 Pro 32 to 64? Thank you!

Copies of the retail of Windows 7 include 32-bit and 64-bit discs.  If the copy you purchased only had a dvd then you didn't buy a copy retail, but a copy of the OEM System Builder.  OEM copies do not allow the buyer to two versions of the software.  You can buy a copy at retail to upgrade license (or copy of full license of Windows 7 Professional).  Anytime Upgrade does NOT change from 32-bit to 64-bit.  You must use the retail to change between architectures.

In the Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit 'Upgrade' disc is identical to the version of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit retail, or is there a difference?

Yes, all the professional retail DVDs are the same.  This is the product key that determines was looking for, it's a full license or upgrade license.  No matter what type of product key, it is, the installed software is exactly the same Windows 7 Professional.

"I heard that there is a chance that I could have someone (Microsoft) send me a 64-bit version because they key will work for both versions.

What you have heard only related to Vista.  Editions of Vista retail below Ultimate contained only a 32 bit dvd and buyers had to order a dvd 64 bit Microsoft for a $10 shipping and handling.  Which does not apply to Windows 7.  All editions of the retail of Windows 7 include the two DVD.  Since you did not purchase a commercial version, Microsoft refer to the OEM for support.  Since there was no OEM, you are out of luck.  That's why an end-user should not buy OEM software directly.

  • How do I upgrade to Windows 7 Pro without reinstalling the operating system?

I have a client who is moving from a workgroup to a domain based network.  About half of the computers are Windows 7 Home edition.  I need to upgrade to Pro so I can join the domain.  I was not able to find an easy way to do it since Anytime Upgrade no longer works on Windows 7.  The only time I did, I had to by a free license key and ended up having to completely reinstall the operating system.  So, how can I switch to Win 7 Pro without reinstallation of the operating system or go to Windows 8.

Unfortunately, your only option now would be to buy a full version or upgrade to Windows 7 professional retail license and use the product key with the Express Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Wizard. It is, it's expensive:

I upgraded a Pavilion P6 W10 Pro in September. Everything was going well until the motherboard and processor failed. When I replaced the hardware I am prompted to activate Windows - I have the product key for Windows 7 Home Prem OA office machine that does not work for W10 Pro. I don't know how W10 Pro ran six months and support MS insists I do decline to W10. Two questions.

1 how W10 differ from the W10 Pro?
    2. How is this W10 Pro could have been improved in Windows 7 Home Prem OA? Looks like a decoy on the BONE.

    Greetings,

The replacement of the mother/CPU card can be extra monkey wrench in this situation.

You cannot use a key of Win 7 Home on Win 10 Pro.

You will need to install Win 10 and then move on to Win 10 Pro. Win 10 going to Win 10 percent if you had an activated copy of win 10 Pro.

    1. other features such as BitLocker and domain join.

    2. I have no idea how you've gone from Win 7 Home win 10 Pro. Were you a BETA-Tester (Windows Insider program)? I upgraded from Win 7 to win 10 Pro, because I was a BETA-Tester,

I just did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro but ignored the input of the product key. Windows activated, but not right away.

  • Help! -Acer Aspire all-in-one touch screen after upgrade Windows 8 Pro

    Hi all!

This is a rather confusing questions and about * me off no end!  I know that some of you may have encountered this already and could have a potential solution?

I have an Acer Aspire all-in-one, AZ5101 (Aspire Z5101), with 4 GB of RAM, etc..

Since the Developer Preview of Windows 8 came out, I've been running Windows 8 perfectly.  I completely uninstalled (each time itself) and run the following:

    Windows 8 Developer Preview, 64-bit

Windows 8 Preview of consumer, 64-bit

    Windows 8 Preview, 64-bit version

In any case, on this PC worked perfectly - y INCLUSIVE of the TOUCH SCREEN.  I never had a problem.

So far so good.  Then, they finally released updates Windows 8 Pro official licensed by download.  I bought the upgrade and downloaded.  Just like in * ALL * other cases, upgrade, I chose "keep nothing" of the old system (I never really got all the important data on here), and do the upgrade itself.

After the upgrade was complete, and ALL Windows 8 Pro updates have been applied by Windows update, I have a system where the screen is clear and precise, everything works, and all devices in Device Manager, show the Greens well, it works fine - NO ERRORS.  HOWEVER - NO CONTACT!  No touch no screen function at all.  The screen now has this time as a standard monitor.

I tried the driver Idéacom - no luck.  Anyone know (please? LOL) how to get the touch screen to work again?  Thank you very much!  I really appreciate any help you can give.  Microsoft technical support had NO idea and no reply emails from Acer! Laughing out loud

    Thanks again,

    Mike

  • Upgrade Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro - media

I searched and read a lot of information on this site and others, and still have an unanswered question: can I use an OEM Dell DVD reinstall to update my Dell computer running Windows XP Pro to Windows 7? My Vostro meets the hardware requirements for running Windows 7 32 bit and I understand the installation process of Windows 7 Pro (custom installation required), but I bought a Dell OEM Windows 7 DVD brand keyed COA and product from an online retailer, and when it arrived it is a "reinstallation DVD. This media will work?

"As far as I know it's still legal to sell OEM disks and modes of real action grouped, although Congress prohibited the sale of certificates of authenticity by themselves a dozen years. Where they come from, I don't know, but maybe it's the excess stock of dealers who subsequently went bankrupt and subsequently had their liquid stocks. »

NO Dell (or another BRAND OEM) COA, which is what we are talking about.  You will never find a COA Dell sold "legitimately" (which was the issue at hand).

"No, it's not illegal in all countries; for example, Germany allows licenses to be transferred between machines OEM, and recently, the European Court ruled that software licenses can be transferred even if the software publisher conditions forbid it. »

OK, but it's not what we're talking about or the other.  Using a Dell Windows 7 DVD of 'upgrade' a license for XP system, it's what we talk about, which is NOT OK, as far as I know, in ANY country.

Now I'm hoping to improve my memory a little, but 32 bits can not handle.

I have a friend with the 64-bit upgrade media, but before I go through all the problems of backup, reformatting and reinstalling, I want to know if my key is still valid. I've read that at least some versions of windows 7 keys will work for 32 and 64.

Otherwise, I just maybe upgrade to Windows 8 at the start of the promotional operation...

As long as it is a disc of Windows 7 Professional Retail, Yes, you can use it with the product key that you used to install Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.
