Upgrade with the SSD, the recovery on the old HARD drive partition

Hi, I would like to upgrade my W530 with SSD. What should I do to have work Pre-boot recovery with recovery partition the disk of HARD now at this time while the system would be the new SSD? Is this possible? BTW, I am considering between mSATA and SSD 2.5 "for windows. Which should I choose? I have to admit mSATA is more convenient for me.

Thanks in advance!

> recovery partition? I don't want to move on SSD

You can skip it when you perform the cloning.

> What about pre-seed recovery? It will work even if I copy the recovery on the SSD partition?

The presence of a recovery partition valid on the active drive (which is the new SSD, in your case) is required for recovery on-site work. So, if this feature is important to you, you should go back to the first question above.

If you have not made your purchase, you should take a close look at the M4 Crucial mSATA SSD 128 GB. Just a suggestion.

  • Get the old hard drive to work on the new processor

I am a PC Tech company with problems on PC at home.

My Win 7 Home Premium Dell Studio T435/9000 dead.  It was a motherboard problem, I chose not to replace the CPU/Mo with a duplicate.  The hard disk MBR is good, I could read it and when I installed in an Optiplex 990 at work, it is initialized.

I had the chance to receive a new Dell T5610 with 2 CPUs of a parent.  It came with professional Win7 preinstalled on an SSD, UEFI boot on a GPT disk.  But all my apps are absent and even a rat-pack obsessives like me do not have all the CD and install the files for the various applications on the old hard drive.

I want to use my old hard drive on the new PC, then after that it's stable, migrate the old hard drive to the SS disc supplied with the PC.

First problem was to learn the differences between MBR and GPT.  After this was learning that Home Premium does not work on a PC with two separate processors.  I use Win7 professional for that.  With the help of this forum, I was able to do this by using the Optiplex 990.  I run Win7 Professional on the Optiplex 990.

I take the former home of hard disk go BIOS to legacy.  Old hard drive that boots on 990, does not start on T5610.

I try various advanced options, safe mode, low-resolution video, nothing works.  I get a BSOD is a hard drive error, STOP 040000007 B.

I try Startup Repair tool and get the following:

How can I get my old hard drive to work with the new processor.  Is it a question of Dell, a Win7 Office.  As the hard drive starts up successfully on another CPU, I believe that the hard drive is good.

Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks to you all.  But the solution was completely different.

Dell said the motherboard on the accuracy was so different from my old PC that unless I reinstalled Win7 Professional from scratch on the old hard drive, motherboard would not work with the old hard drive.

They have guaranteed that the old hard drive would work on a 8700 XPS.  After some problems, I managed to do the work.  Problem solved.

you want to install more hard drive. How can I move all of the data, os, games, music, etc.

    and have computer always starts.

    Hello

You cannot move by themselves programs

you need to reinstall it from the original media

read this about moving everything, including the operating system

or save your data and reinstall clean vista

There are different ways to do

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. that vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new hard drive

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

    Hello, everyone.

I have a laptop HP (pavilion dv7-1245dx) and the hard drive is dead. I had never gotten to burn my recovery disks, so I ordered new ones from HP. When I installed the new hard drive and popped in the disk to reinstall the operating system, it gave me the error message:

"This PC is not supported by the system recovery discs. You can continue to recover this system with these discs. »

    Error code: 0100-30 FC-3602-3603

The original hard drive was a Hitachi, 320 GB SATA

The new hard drive is a WD 500 GB SATA

Any assistance anyone can give would be great. :]

EDIT: Trying to recover a Vista operating system

For anyone who has the same problem, I found a solution. I cloned the original hard drive using the Clonezilla fallback option. After using Clonezilla to image on the new hard disk, the partition which held that most of the data of the laptop is not mountable, however the partition containing the restore partition was a perfect copy. I turned on the computer, hit escape to access the menu (for a list of options such as boot order, etc, which included an option for recovery), and then choose recovery option. While the recovery discs, I received from HP refused to work with the new hard drive, the Vista restored cloned recovery partition without flaw.

  • Satellite P750 PSAY1A: how to create the recovery Toshiba on the new HARD drive partition

    Hello

I have an old Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY1A-01Y022). I just upgraded my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB and am preparing to take my 500 GB HARD drive 1 TB. I had to order the disk online and wait to happen.

I always try to understand how to create the arrival of my new HARD drive Toshiba Recovery Partition. I do the same thing for an old book, I handled based on something similar to it's original factory State.

I have reflected on the recovery partition, but does not know how it was created. It is not NTFS. Does anyone have experience in the creation of a Toshiba Recovery on a new HARD drive Partition?

And the help is very appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,
    Dinesh

Recovery partition can be created when you use the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install recovery image. Before the partitions to boot OS install will be automatically created, recovery image copied on a recovery and then partition as last step recovery image installation starts.

A sort of migration of files from one to the other HARD disk is not solution.

Only for laptop with factory will work and the usable recovery partition.

  • HP Compaq Desktop Mod CQ511OF: W7, using the upgrade on the new hard drive disc

Hello everyone; The 5 years, 320 GB hard drive on my HP Compaq CQ5110F desktop model is tired and I would like to replace it with a hybrid drive SSD Seagate 1 TB. My concern is that this computer has been upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. The vignette, I placed on this computer that came with the disc to upgrade the readings; "Windows Vista HmPm - Win 7 HmPm UPG fill HP".  So my question is can I use the drive of W7 upgrade to install W7 on the new 1 TB hard drive, the 'system' will use the product code located on the sticker provided with the upgrade disk? The computer is supported up to 1 TB Seagate Backup Plus.  The computer is, bicoeur AMD 2.5 GHZ, 32 bit, 3 GB of ram. I would be happy to provide additional information. I appreciate all the comments really. Thank you very much for your help, Oscarmint

You cannot use an upgrade disc to install an OS on a new hard drive.

You could clone the old hard drive to the new hard drive using a program like Macrium reflect free

  • How to copy the recovery on the new HARD drive partition, HARD drive failed?

    Hallo,

I have a Compaq Mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

The HARD drive has failed and it is not repairable. However, it seems that the recovery partition is OK.

I want to buy a new HARD drive, install the driver on the netbook, and then use the tools/recovery partition to install windows 7 on a new PC.

So, the question is simple: how to copy the recovery for the new HARD drive partition?

    Hello s91066.

If your hard drive of your laptop doesn't have? If this is the case, what do you mean by the "recovery partition is ok? I doubt that this laptop has two hard disks, so if you are able to see this partition of your hard drive may still work.

You will need a set of recovery disks to restore the partitions on the new drive. If you can start Windows, which you can probably not with a dead hard drive, you can follow these steps if you can get into Windows.

If you are unable to boot into Windows, you need a set of disks. You can order it directly from HP. The number of the United States / Canada is 1-800-474-6836. If you are in another domain, you must visit HP's Support around the world to find contact information for your region.

I hope that is useful; have a great weekend!

  • Install Windows 7 upgrade on the new hard drive?

I have the Windows 7 upgrade version that I installed last September, but a few days ago my hard drive died.  How do we install the version 7 upgrade on the new hard drive without using a previous version of windows on it?

In order to install the Windows 7 upgrade version, you must have a system of eligible operating Windows installed and activated.  You cannot install a version upgrade of Windows 7 on a drive blank.  The installation procedure you do not insert a Windows disk in the drive for verification, eligible operating system must be installed.

If you do not have a qualification system of operating Windows installed with an activated genuine license, then you can not use the version upgrade of Windows 7 - you would need a license of Windows 7 "full version".

    In summary:

    1. a Windows operating system to eligible address must be installed.
    2. the Windows operating system to eligible address must have a genuine license (product key) and it must be enabled.
    3. to upgrade, boot on the eligible Windows desktop, insert the Windows 7 upgrade disc in the DVD player.
    4. when the menu appears, select custom (advanced option) to a clean install procedure.

You should be able to repair the installation, if your installation one fall. I suggest create you a System Image (backup) of your installation of Windows 7 after installation of Windows 7 in order to spare you the trouble if your computer one fall in the future.

You can work around this two ways, I would suggest that you create a System Image (backup) of your installation of Windows 7 after installation of Windows 7 in order to save you the trouble if your computer loses the system failure or instability. Since you are in possession of a valid license of Windows Vista for this computer, you can use the following method to do a clean install with upgrade support:

Releasing it's easy: with Windows | ActiveWin | Laptops | Microsoft MVP

Please help me to get my windows genuine 8 back so I could get additional updates downloaded.

    Hello Vishal,

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

If you purchased a computer with installed OEM Windows 8 on it, there could be a sticker on the Tower, or in the back (in the case of a laptop) with the product key to this topic. If there is no sticker, he can be preinstalled on your system BIOS.

  • replace the old hard drive with nine in Pavilion dv2019tu

Max Mamory is 2 GB. I'm sorry.

AMD model series versions has been reported to have difficulties even with hard drives of 500 GB. There has never been a logical explanation. Since it is SATA it must accept any drive SATA 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick. However, the reports were many and not lightly ignored. I can not find plug on the dv2019tu so if it has an Intel processor, I would say that you're good to go with a 1 TB SATA drive, as long as it is not thicker than 9.5 mm. Also pay attention to the connecting piece plastic on the old hard drive. It is necessary to connect the SATA ports on the drive to the motherboard. You have to use it again.

  • With the help of Windows Easy Transfer - need to transfer the old HARD drive to new computer - old HDD attached as external drive for the new usb port of the computer - help

New computer installed Windows 7 and gave me an option to use Windows easy transfer to transfer files, data, programs, etc. from my old computer.  All I have from the old computer's hard drive; a lightning strike fried either food or his mother by car.  I have attached the hard as a disk to the new computer using the usb cable provided with the external hard drive case.  It is recognized as drive E: on the new computer.

Trying to follow the instructions given by the Windows Easy Transfer software.  Get the software/folder from the old hard drive (drive E), but trying to run the software that I can't seem to do anything on the old disk.  When asked what is the former or the new computer - I respond to old, but no new file is created for the transfer.  When I answer again, a new file is created on the new computer (rather than the old HDD) and then he transferred again to new.  I can't create a file of whatever it is I want to transfer from the old HDD.

I can't use an easy transfer cable because the old computer does not only the hard drive.  I can't connect to a network for the same reason.  I only have the hard that I can attach to the new computer.  But I can't get the new computer to process the old hard drive separately for transfer purposes.  The only other option I can think of is to attach the old HDD to another computer, and then try to run the software in this way, but I don't want just the stuff on the old hard drive a copy to the other computer.

Can anyone help?  Suggest how to get the old hard drive files, data, transferred etc. to the new computer.  What are the steps?

    Thank you.

Do yourself a favor, with the old drive connected externally, in the browser, simply copy the data files to the location of Documents of the PC win7. You can not copy programs, they need to be reinstalled from media origonal. You can copy all the downloaded files instalation

You may need to take possession of your old documents folders - see win help to find out how

I watched an attempt all suggestions re. This and cannot locate my favorites and passwords on the old hard drive.
Hard drive is still connected to my computer, even if the PC had a mother brd, the CPU and the RAM upgrade: because of the upgrade failed to load window, if the Windows file is always available. New HARD drive with windows installed, install again. 11.0 ff. The following search suggestions, I find the new profile, but not that of the old drive. I can access my Mozilla folder in Program Files (x 86), but are now looking for appdata etc.
Yes, I know, it was really stupid to not save this kind of things before the installation of new equipment, but do not think that the material change was hose go my W7 install so bad. Thanks for any help in advance.

AppData is a hidden file, you need to enable hidden files and folders may be to find. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-see-hidden-files-in-windows/.

After finding the appdata folder, read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles and recovery of data from an old profile.

  • No access to users on the old hard drive

I have a weird problem, I can not access my /Desktop documents/photos/music on my old hard drive files and, basically, all that is in the / users.

I tried to change the permission settings but I can't make it work and sometimes it says I don't have permission to change, it's so weird because I can access other things which is just placed on the hard drive and not on / users. I just upgraded my computer and put this hard drive but I run my operating system on an SSD instead, I tried to plug the old hard drive but it does not work it restarts just when it starts to load windows.
It feels as if I have to hack my old hard drive in a way to make it possible to access.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    1. you receive an error message/code when you try to access the files on your old hard drive? If Yes, what is the full error message?

2 were there any hardware or software changes made on the computer before this problem?

Do the methods and check if it helps.

Initially, a virus using Microsoft Safety scanner scan and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: While running scan on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning try to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

    Method 2

Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists, if the question does not persist then perform the clean boot and check if the problem resolves.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed. Please click the below mentioned link.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 3

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

  • How can I move the old hard drive to new programs.

I tried to upgrade Windows 2000 Pro, XP Pro on my hard drive. XP would install, but would break to the BSOD with a STOP of the F4 code. BCupdate2 says that the startup code is up to date. NTDLR and boot.ini and NTDETECT.COM are present on the old hard drive. After 2 days of searching and trying different solutions, I bought a new hard drive and installed XP Pro top. System is now running. I want to make my programs from the old hard drive to the new hard disk as well as shortcuts, system settings, user accounts, and user data. I want the new HDD to resemble the old hard disk would look like had XP installed successfully. I have a utility provided with the hard drive, but it says it will take the BONES of the old drive and put it on the new drive that would make my non-operational system. Any help? The history of the old drive is 64 XP was installed originally, but some of my programs wouldn't not below so I installed Windows 2000 Pro. Which was great for several years, but the new versions of the software I use has stopped running less than 2000.

I'm sorry, but it is not possible to move programs from one operating system to another.  You must reinstall the programs.

Your data files must be in the Documents and Settings\ folder from the old hard drive and you can copy them to the folder on the Windows XP system.
